    I bought this bike as my first bike and personnally I quite like that it lacks power : my father lost both is legs in a bike accident so I like it when I get over-confident and the bike tells me "no you don't", I find it reassuring. Also love the fuel and insurance costs : I live near Paris and it's legit cheaper than public transportation.

    I bought the 2022 version a couple of months ago as my very first bike after doing my CBT… I’m hoping once I get to grips with it to do my full licence (am old… so I can!) as a short lady rider it’s perfect for what I want right now… I still have so much to learn!! It’s a small bike but for me it’s still feels heavy!!!

    50mph going down country lanes on a 125 feels like your doing a ton . Honda have always built 125 ‘s that are good on the juice . My mate had a CG 125 Honda pushrod single back in the 1980 ‘s ,it had what Honda called a miser carb on it . He could get to the moon & back on a gallon of cheap 2 star juice & 65 mph on the clock . You can’t go wrong with small Honda ideal for commuting & general bimbling about . 👍

    I am a fan of small bikes, too. I have been thinking about getting a Suzuki VanVan 200 as they are still available in Thailand, although the local small Suzuki shop has lost its franchise and is now selling small Chinese bikes. You can go as fast as you need to on small displacement bikes if you're running round the lanes.

    I agree on all points although I would prefer wider mirrors and on rides through places like the Lake District, Northumberland and down the west coast of Cumberland (Cumbria until recently) into a strong headwind I am getting nearer 120-130mpg at roughly 48mph in 5th or 40mph in 4th. I am also 6 ft 2 and overweight!

  • @Bob-ts2tu

    i'm similar size/weight as you m8 and often ride similar roads getting the same (actual) mpg when i ride at that speed. no doubt the bike displayed mpg will show 140-150 though. I've just switched from E10 to E5 to see if it makes a difference, and early indications are that the MPG goes up a bit but is offset by the increased cost, however i 'feel' the bike runs a bit sweeter, but need more time to tell. @@Bob-ts2tu Not sure whether it is still the case but Esso E5 is supposed to be ethanol free according to their website. It seems to run more smoothly and better power response with E5 generally. Also personally I have found that fully synthetic oil (Lucas in this case) is much better than semi synthetic very noticeable mpg, smooth running, cooler (using a laser meter) and much better performance especially when it warms up, more power output.

  • @Bob-ts2tu

    @Bob-ts2tu

    @@user-zu8wc3sc4g thanks for that. I use fully synthetic too (but not lucas), as i've heard the same, and am using super unleaded from morrisons and sainsburys as they are close by. i'm thinking that if i get better mpg to offset the additional cost but with better performance then it makes sense to stick with E5, as i'm at least getting something 'extra' for the same money lol

  • @user-zu8wc3sc4g

    @user-zu8wc3sc4g

    @@Bob-ts2tu I think a few people have shown that the E10 can be a false economy, ethanol has a lower calorific value than petrol so you would inevitably use more for the same output of power. Then there is the added benefit of E5 or E0 in that the petrol absorbs less water from the air.

    Totally ignore the on-board mpg display, it varies wildly and the value shown is RUBBISH. Over 6000 miles since i've had mine i have documented every fillup, and it has over-estimated by 24mpg on average, (sometimes up to 50+mpg on some tankfulls). The only way is to properly calculate it by miles ridden / fuel used. Mine has actually averaged 138mpg over that time over all terrain and conditions (was more at one time), and recently when i've ridden a lot harder and pinned it for longer about 122mpg. I'm 19st and 6' tall so it's still pretty damn good economy, and 150mpg + IS well possible if you tootle around and ride steady keeping the ecometer light green as much as possible, which i did more in the earlier days of ownership, so dont take the manufacturer or display claims too seriously unless you weigh less than 10stone and ride at 30mph everywhere, and even then it will be wrong. @@o00scorpion00o we use UK MPGT in yorkshire :). My accurate calculation over the past year using (total miles / total fuel) over 8,000 miles gives a true figure of 134.16 mpg. the 'bike display' mpg gives an average of 159.03 mpg over the same period. I'm riding a bit faster and harder now than i did at the start, and the figures factors in that, as well as all terrain & weather conditions, although im not a big winter rider and don't commute, with each journey between 50-250 miles. These are still quite stunning figures when you think it carries a total weight of around quarter of a ton around (bike + rider) using a piston the size of a lemon lol, so i reckon if you take 25mpg off what the display says you will be somewhere near, but the true figure varies wildly from tankfull to tankfull. lastly to be as accurate with the actual miles ridden, i average what the bike odometer says and the miles in my beeline satnav, as i find the odometer is usually 5% higher than the satnav miles, which would give an increased mpg if used on it's own, but i wanted to check out the honda claims of 188mpg as properly as i could, not coz im a stat's geek, but thought it would be an interesting excercise. @@Mrfish2015 That's great to hear, as i read that people that are tall might find it uncomfy. I live in RS. I think i might buy this machine or similar, in near future. It is very economic. I do not travel long distances. Not more then 300km on average and thats trips, on daily basis no more then 60km. Not really fun of cars, you can say i am claustrophobic. 😂

    have you done a proper calculation of miles/fuel used over a long period time to claim this figure?, or are you taking the bike display as being correct? (which it is nowhere near), as my own experience is that if you weigh under 10stone and ride everywhere under 30mph on the flat with no wind, then something near that figure *may* be possible, but in the real world, sorry i dont believe it.

    @Bob-ts2tu I had a little bit of a miscalculation. I weigh roughly 8.5 stone and get an mpg of 160ish.
