Honda ADV350 2022 Review - The New Adventure Scooter!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Announced at EICMA 2021, we got our first look at the crossover scooter that combines a bit of X-ADV with a splash of Forza 350, and if you’re in the Asian markets follows a similar recipe to the ADV150. The Honda ADV350 has that adventure style that we love in the X-ADV, but a smart streak recognisable from the Forza rang
Honda coined this scooter the ‘urban adventurer’ and jumping on the scoot that’s instantly apparent from a first ride, and first impressions can often be the most telling.
Weighing in at 186kg with steel tubular frame, a low centre of gravity (with 795mm seat) and a seriously provocative Showa suspension setup front and rear - 37mm USD forks with 125mm stroke, twin rear Showa shocks with twin remote reservoir and 130mm travel - it feels nicely setup for both nipping around city/town traffic and heading off on countryside blasts.
The single cylinder 330cc motor is liquid-cooled and smooth to work with. It doesn’t have the famed DCT transmission, instead opting for the just as capable (and lighter) automatic CVT belt final drive, and HSTC (Honda Selectable Torque Control) with dedicated button on the switchgear.
The motor really picks up at low rpm. giving you a nice boost of torque off the line - peaking at 31.5 Nm / 23.2 lb-ft at 5250 rpm. Peak power is found at 7500 rpm to the tune of 28.8 bhp. Doesn’t sound like much, but on this scooter it’s certainly enough to have some great fun.

    Great review. It's, in a word, a SUV scooter. It's an amazing product from Honda that is surfing the big wave caused by the xadv750 and cashing in the success. I absolutely love the scooter. I've been lucky enough (read: work like a maniac) to have two bike, and normally I get bored with scooters and end up buying a naked mid cc bike but miss the practicality of a mid size scooter. After a Forza 350, 2 xmax 300, 1 Burgman 200 (and 1 silver wing 400, majesty 400 etc) I went and did a test ride on a Adv350 and immediately felt that motorcycle vibe and the crossover feel to it. It has the practicality of the scooter with the feel of a motorcycle (you can see the front forks and the handlebars give her that sense of control you need and are used to). So, bye my beloved Ducati Monster and ordered a ADV350 (dark grey) on the spot. It a very good complement to my GSA1200! Amazing bike/scooter from Honda.

    Hi Alex. Great review & thanks for running through everything on this mid sized bike. I personally love this little ADV 350 & I'm saving for one as we speak. I agree with you also, for a mid range little adventure bike I think this is hard to beat atm, in fact you can't beat it. This scoot really does have all the spec you need, bucket loads of space with the top box also, great suspension & a good bit of power for a little 350 also. I've noticed that Akrapovic haven't bought out a nice dark grey exhaust for this scoot yet! Do you think they will in time? Not only will it look good, it'll also give it a little bit more power. Thanks.

    It's a nice journalistic angle but nobody ever will take this off road, just like the X ADV 750 and ADV 150 in Asian markets, its just a styling exercise. Still like it more than a Forza because of the better suspension.

  • @edxr250r

    @edxr250r

    I'd happily take it off road on sensible tracks at reasonable speeds - there are some great gravel tracks that lead around local reservoirs, it would be spot on for that and have space to store your sandwiches, flask and blanket for a pit stop while you're out. Obviously, it's not designed for serious off roading but slightly more suitable than a standard scooter. However, I doubt it jumps as well as the Honda C50 that I remember riding off road back in the '70's!

    The main competitor to the ADV is the sibling Honda Forza 350, the Forza has conventional tele-forks, the ADV the upside-down forks, I guess for 2023 the Forza will lose tele forks for upside-down. The Forza has an electrically powered windshield, it can be adjusted over a range of movement of 180mm by a handlebar button, the ADV is a manual windshield ( note to reviewer is the windshield variable in height or simply fully up / fully down )? The fuel consumption is poor, 18 miles/litre from the brochure, only 1 mile more than the 750 ADV , the scooters hardly better certain Honda cars such as the Jazz for mpg, especially the latest hybrid Jazz. Both the Forza and ADV are competitively priced at £5700, the Suzuki Burgman is an incredible £6999.

  • @podunkman2709

    @podunkman2709

    2 жыл бұрын

    Upside Down is more like marketing. Right-Side can be exactly same if wheel is small and travel distance is rather small. Both suspensions works in exactly same way - np pro, no cons in shock absorbing. The upper part of Forza suspension is bicycle type mount - this can have small impact on stiffness. Electric windscreen seems to be amazing fun but it is not. Why? Because quality is really bad. It makes terrible noise on bumps. Forza offers slightly better cover against wind. Both bikes are great as commuting bikes. I own ADV :-)

    @@Tim955w 80+ mpg is not too bad, but 100 to 110 mpg is what I think a modern scooter should be designed to achieve, note Honda know how to build 100 + mpg cars ( the 2000 - 2006 Insight) . My 2019 125 SuperCub returns 170 to 190 mpg, even my 1980 RD350LC would do 175 miles on 3 gallons on long touring trips. Honda are masters of fuel efficienct reliable cars, please apply the same to the scooters.

    @@cyclist3969 Yes i agree particularly when the Honda CB500 range can pretty much do the same MPG, i think the main reason they are only this good is the 186kg weight plus the auto CVT keeps the revs at around 5000 or more so the bike is kept in a good power / torque range. For the country rural riding that i am doing the bike is now averaging mid to high 80's, so in the ball park of other machines of similar weight and power. Best wishes.

    I sincerely hope this will be an absolute flop and Honda loses money on this project - just to prevent copy-cats. The SUV/Crossover plague in the automotive sector is already bad enough, we must prevent at all cost that this spreads to scooters. Do not buy this. Loudly shame everyone you see riding one of these.

    @@TheUrbanEpicure just stating this will be a best seller for them irrespective of what you or I think. Speaking to the dealers they have been inundated with pre-orders and waiting times are increasing by the day.
