Honda 200x Race Trikes

Ойын-сауық

Lets throw you back to 1984 when ATC's were the thing to have! Travis and I have spent some time restoring these bikes and we're going to show you what's all been done. Both bikes have a rebuilt top and bottom end, front forks, neck bearings, chains, and many other parts. We plan to do some radar runs or ice drags, and some trail ridding. Literately straight up wheelie machines!

    Yeah it will run ether way, the circle is suppose to be up, that's what the book shows so I would just make sure its like that, and if you're off one tooth it can spit fuel/exhaust soot out the carb, mine was doing that when it was off. the backfiring is spark timing, it means its too advanced. instead of lining everything back up, you can just move the timing back a little and try again. There is suppose to be oil in the stator cover, not sure why but that's how they are. When my bikes are cold and I blip the throttle too fast, they will die, its ether too cold or there is not enough fuel, meaning your pilot jet might be clogged up. I never had one be too rich right of idle, but if the main jet is too rich it will be like it hits a rev limiter at a certain RPM, I leaned mine out and now it finally runs good. But now my kicker spring failed and the whole engine has to come apart, COMPLETLY APART! Down to the splitting the case and removing the crank, and trans. Hopefully this helps.

  • @Trikekid84

    @Trikekid84

    3 жыл бұрын

    I used the stock one, but you have to get rid of the adjustment knob and screw the cable all the way into the thumb throttle part. Hard to explain but you have to make the stock cable as short as possible on that end so I had to get rid of that screw pice. 32mm is huge! Probably have alot of top end pull.

    Cool bikes guys I'm in the process of building an 85 200x and I need an intake what was that intake you said you had on yours some sort of 30mm ebay one. I've heard some say on forums that an xr200 intake fits but then I seen reviews on new cheap ones and people say they don't fit a 200x apparently a guy cut his frame to make it fit 😂 but I definitely don't want to do that.

    @Trikekid84

    With doing it myself, and help from a guy I know, $400. crank was rebuilt for $75, piston and ring kit was $110, timing chain maybe $20, I re-used the valves, I had them re cut and seats re cut before this rebuild. Machine shop might charge $40 for that. Gasket kit was $36. New clutch parts were $60. Oil pump assembly $100, I'm probably forgetting something.

    The wire screws into the coil, and so does the spark plug cap. So it's just a regular pice of spark plug wire, (not part of the coil like on other thibgs) so you should he able to find on easily. Honda dealer, used coil on ebay or something will have one on, atv junk yard.

    Taller gearing, and a bigger carb will put more power to the top end. I feel like exhaust adds power on the whole curve but bigger carb and exhaust will help. Next thing I'm going to do is get a web stage 2 or something cam. Should add more top end but also more low end. Should also set my timing so it's dead on.

    check for air leaks by wiggling the carb up and down to see if the boot leaks, that's my problem right now with a bigger carb I had to cut my boot and zip tie it in two directions so it is more ridged. Can also spray gas around the intake and see if it idles up or down. If its not an air leak see how worn out the carb slide is, sometimes the idle screw will wear a dimple in the slide and it might not be able to go down all the way. if not that then make sure the throttle cable is returning all the way? If it starts easy its probably not an air leak.

  • @smokeybandit4910

    @smokeybandit4910

    @@Trikekid84 Well, it's 100% not an air leak. It was running fine and then all of the sudden it wouldn't start and when it did it would pop and snap and run pretty bad. It sounded exactly like a motor with the timing chain off a tooth. I tried to check if it was in time, lined up the cam gear but what am I supposed to see on the flywheel? Its also got pressure coming out the intake, it will blow a rag out and when I had the carb on it it would shoot gas out of it. The valves are adjusted perfect and it has 180 psi compression. It's exactly like the timing chain or valve train is off but I don't know how to fix it.

    @@smokeybandit4910 there are 2 Mark's on the flywheel, line up the T mark with the small hole in the stator cover, then look at the cam, the dot should be face up, and then you set the timing line up the flywheel to the F mark, which is about 10 degrees before the T (TDC) and then line up your cdi pulse rotor so the line on the black box lines up with the line on the mechanical advance thing. My friends 200x jumped one tooth and it had the same symptoms, wouldn't start. Before you even set cam timing re tighten your timing chain by removing the 10mm bolt from the adjuster, thread in a m3 bolt into the adjuster, pull up on it to tighten the chain when the 14mm bolt is loose, then re tighten it. There is a video on this by D Ray's garage.
