Viewed from a critical perspective, Pilate tried to free Jesus. The idea of bringing Barrabas was still an effort to free Jesus. Recall also that when the people saw him move to free Jesus, they started to insinuate that he is not a friend of Caesar. He had to save his and his job.He even washed his hands off the matter. If we have to blame anyone, that should be the Chief Priests. The whole thing was their script. The church should have had them in the creed, though. 😂 Good job, as always, Fr. Emmanuel.

I was sincerely touched spiritually and emotionally by this homily. The message therein is huge and implicating. Before I join in condemning Pilate's judgement, I understand that I should first of all stripe myself of Pilate's mentality whenever I have the obligation or the opportunity to judge. I beg for forgiveness from God for anytime I played the Pilate in the past and promise to be conscious over a possible repeat in the future.
