Paul was already well known and famous and had put out quality albums in the '70s before he did Graceland. He had some troubles in the early '80s trying to get hits or do a good album. His 1982 album was a flop. However he had some momentum from reuniting with Art Garfunkel In 1981. Unfortunately they are volatile pair so the plans were scrapped for a reunion tour. Later they did a tour in 1993 but it went so bad that they end the tour early stating that both could not work with each other. Still Paul Simon's Graceland revitalize his career even though he had no more hits after 1986.
