Hey Tom , Thanks for treating me like a rock star when I bumped into you in L.A. for Willie’s 90th. You are a class act and it’s easy to see why people hire you for historic gigs like that. I had no idea you were going to be in the house band. It turned an epic event into one of the coolest experiences of my entire life. I forgot to thank you for making me such a better player and giving so many of us something to look forward to everyday during the pandemic. Thanks for everything bro

I played in 'bar bands' for 50 years, probably 25 with the same band. They had 1 rule before I got there, everybody gets a mic and everybody sings! They had a minimum of 2 songs, of your choice. That gives you a lot of respect for the cat that is playing and singing most of the time, and gives him/her a little break. Everybody had to learn harmony too! Some cats mics got turned up louder that others, but everybody participated!! Miss that a lot. 8( --gary

What's better a mediocre semi crappy band with a great singer or a great band with a crappy singer.

@@stringlocker IMHO, we were a very tight country/rock band in the 70's & 80's. We encouraged everyone to learn to sing. We never allowed a bad sound, and always helped when necessary. We also had a vocal coach that helped with harmony, and solos. We had quite a dedicated following to, they always encouraged the non-regular singers. I couldn't handle a 'crappy band', some singers are better than others. But we always encouraged and helped people to get better. That's what it's all about. Peace, --gary

When I was in bands it was who has the Coke and what key are we in.
"Don't it make my brown eyes blue" beautifully played Larry!
I love when you sing! Thank you Tom! ❤️
It's great to have you back!
I was watching clips of that show, sounded so epic! Great work!! What a legendary gathering ❤
Great stories, Tom! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the post Tom... appreciate all the time you take posting for us... have a great rest of the week! 👍
Love hearing you sing!❤❤❤
Nice Tommy! Thanks for sharing.
After watching as many videos of this concert as I could find on line this view of the scene was impossibly good. TY so much .. 🤜
Congrats on the long weekend out west w/ some of my favorite performers.
I was SO stoked to see you playing that gig. I deeply admire your work ethic!!
Damn I love you’re channel and so honored to hear you play, and share you’re musical adventures… you are the best! blessings ❤️
It was so great to see you on that stage! I hope there will be a decent release of the whole gig!
Have no idea how much I appreciate all you do Unco Larry... 😎💪 Thank you , thank you, thank you ..
Definitely keep it raw!! So pumped for the record! I think theres a real appetite for that kind of sound now. Hoping the best for you guys
Aye Tommy Boy! Thanks for the on-stage point of view the last couple of weeks, brother! You are a great musical inspiration to us all. Love to see it man!
Watched a bunch of those 90th birthday vids; you looked to be having a great time with Beck and it was a killer cover. I watched it multiple times before checking out the others. Can't wait to hear better mixes. This video is awesome. Thanks for continuing to make and share them.
cool as always. I kept seeing fan phone vids from the Willie tribute, and was amazed at how many guest artists they booked. Impressive body of songs everyone had to learn. That's a lot of hard work on short amount of time, for both band and production crew. I look forward to seeing and hearing the finished product.
Delightful to hear you sing! Please do it again sometime.
[Oh man was so lost without these regular uploads. Welcome back, Uncle.]
I love your voice man!!! Soulful a lil raspy I love it! Have a great day uncle Larry
thanks for sharing stories on the Willie gig! Always fun to watch "how the sausage is made" on big shows like that. Cheers!
appreciate the insight to the show. That's putting in work, and it is so amazing Don pulled all that together. You all busted ass and it showed, I can only imagine the curve balls with all those artists and songs. Thanks again for taking us along for the ride.
Love that singing!! 😘
What a very fun class today. I would have loved to caught this earlier so I could have had the chance at the charts....THANKS BUK!!!
Always happy to watch another upload from my guitar teacher. You always manage to brighten my day, you’re the best. I’ve been preaching the word, trying to get my guitar playing pals to watch your channel. The lessons are priceless.
Thanks Uncle Larry ! Learning a lot from you, Your chord voicing are awesome ! Well, everything you play is awesome, so glad you decided to do this.
I knew this first episode back from that incredible concert would be a good one, and you didn’t disappoint! How could any musician not be excited playing with all of those legends?! I am so happy for you. Those are great memories you will likely have forever! And I agree with you on Willie’s incredible lifetime body of work. I once went on his Spotify page to add some of his music to a playlist I was making, and I started scrolling through all of his recordings, and I had to be scrolling for 8-9 minutes to get through all of it … and I’m sure there is even more that isn’t on Spotify. I smile every time I watch him perform, because it’s as if his rhythm and his singing is a half a note, or even a whole note behind everyone else in the band, and then it’s like “the record skips”, and he’s caught up to them again. They basically just have yo ignore him and keep playing. I love it. Like his guitar, Trigger, it’s a part of who he is. I have been lucky to see him live. And if he comes around again while he’s still touring, I’ll ho and see him again, because he’s such an icon, and such a character! ❤️❤️ Anyway - thanks for sharing. I was dying to hear your tales. You looked like you were having fun. 😁
So real and so very good. Thanks, Buk
Welcome back home! “Don’t Make My Brown Eyes Blue” is a cool tune. Use to play that at gigs with my dad!
Loved seeing and hearing you at Willy's Birthday event. God bless you Uncle Larry.
Tom, you make the world a better place.
I was there on the live stream when you guys laid down a couple of the songs and I have to say even the feed on the stream yours and Guthrie’s (and wook and everyone else) had an AMAZING vibe so I can only imagine how it’ll turn out after the final mixes and mastering
Hey Tom, it is so good to see you home & relaxing for a few minutes with the windows open! More pretty days coming!!! Watching you at the Willie’s gigs was great & seeing all the Uncle Larry comments was pretty fwiggin’ funny!!! Thank you!!!
Making music is a full contact sport. Your stamina is super impressive, Tom. At the end of the day, it's a lot more than charting, learning, rehearsing, and performing. Thank you!
the simple fact that you were on stage with those people says it all. Tommy,,,, i love that you the fact that you are actually excited about it and at the same time not too cool for skool. Top man Tom. From your Bukovac cuz in Mississauga
I just want to thank Uncle Larry for these videos. I have learned so much and it has raised my enjoyment of guitar.
Thanks for all that you do, Tom. That riff you asked us to name is 'Don't it make my brown eyes blue '. Great playing as always!
Uncle Larry, glad to have you back. ✌🏼😎
So cool to see you and Audley chillin' over there. Love me some Cry of Love. God Bless you, Willie.

Audley’s among my favorites. His solos on Peace Pipe are epic.
Just watched the closer, "On The Road Again/Will The Circle Be Unbroken/I'll Fly Away", man oh man, brother the lineup on that stage is amazing! And somewhere back behind that wall of legends stands a man of many talents, a man too 'oft forgotten...Uncle Larry! What a trip brother! How fortunate you are to have been a part of it all.
Great episode Tom, thanks! Thanks for the behind the scenes stuff as well. Willie is a bad ass to say the least. So many songs. Might have been hard to get it down to 60. Beck as well! '(put your) hands on the wheel, let the golden age begin'. Nod to Willie perhaps? Thanks again!
Uncle Larry! Had a great weekend watching all the audience shot footage of the Willie Fest out there in Hollyweird... your guitar solo you played in that tune with Rodney Crowell and Emmylou Harris was absolutely awesome...had fun watching the comments with people asking questions like who's Larry?😂
20:24 "I hate everything".....me too but I watch all your vids...I get joy from each and every one of them. Thank you. Your playing is wonderful and soul stirring, your raves are very relatable. The reason I youtube. Cheers to you Tom. Please continue with this empire you are growing.
I dig the heck out of your vids Uncle Larry.
Look what the cat drug in!!! Wow, its great to see ya again. It's a waste land of nothingness without your videos and insight. It's like seeing an old friend. Thank you, Starship Trooper!!!!
Wow, Uncle Larry you live the best life, man. All that hard work has paid off, you deserve all the good stuff. Beck is one of my favorites ever. Glad he's as cool as he seems.
Hey. So thank you Uncle Larry cos I managed to get that exact chord without Google or any other shit just by ear. It took me about 3 min. .. you have to think a bit like jobim it’s that kind of chord. No matter about winning anything, the challenge and that I got it right has a put a big smile in my face.. thank you dud.. love your channel.
It’s not about hearing a specific instrument, it’s about how they all sound as one :) You have taught me so much, and laying back in the pocket and playing only the notes that add to the rest may be one of the most valuable. Thanks for your continued knowledge shares!!
Covid sucks. But it brought you to KZread and Im thankful for that.
I watch a lot of the 90th vids, great job, great vibs, Willie looked like he was having the time of his life, it was cool.
Hey Tom, Thanks for the awesome footage of the Willie gig! On a side note. Knowing your love for all things old. You have probably seen the Uncle Doug channel. However, if you have not. He is an incredibly talented WIZARD of complete refurbishing of older TUBE AMPS. Your voice sounds awesome!!!
❤do you know how loved you are Tom? So much. Sooo much. My mom used to sing that song to my son.❤
So glad to see you playin with Don and those cats...what a stellar gig so great,Willie is a treasure and worthy of the talent of you folks backing the names...real cool If you start cutting your own hair its a sign of trouble...hahaha. much love Tom. So glad to get your take on this gig ,once in a lifetime I'd say.
For me the coolest part about watching all the replays of the Willie 90th birthday vids is seeing Uncle Larry up there just being him - doing what's best for the song - and I think, man I know that guy! One of US made it! Kind of weird because clearly, I don't know Uncle Larry personally, but it feels nice to be proud of him and wish him all the success in life.
Hi Tom, a long time very much appreciative fan for all you share with us from Nova Scotia. I will say that chord is an Fm
You looked and sounded great at the Willie night and it's good to see you looking great and sounding great from home!
The multitude of various different postings from Willy's 90th are so fantastic! I was checking out Lyle Lovett... something went wrong at the end of his song. You chuckled, turned around and took a sip from your cup. ;-)
Larry, thank you. I sooo appreciate your honest, candid approach to sharing your musical guitar life to the cyber madness. Cheers.
Tom, All i can say is that you must really like playing the guitar. The passion you have for it is the reason you are such an impressive guitar player. Props to you! Thank you for sharing your time with us. Peace to you.
It's good to hear you thinking about Hoss. Billy Ray Reynolds was one of my best friends in the world who unfortunately passed away a few years back. BRR played rhythm and sang back up with Waylon for many years and was a great writer... Most notably during Good Hearted Woman era ~ Can't wait for the remixed download!
Hi tom! I know I'm late but the second you mentioned Sir Duke I knew you were going to talk about that Fmin7 with the Bb on the vocal melody, man that song gave a lot of work, anyways cheers and much love from Argentina!
Love you uncle larry...glad your trip out here in cali went well...your world class.
Sounds perfect…you and GT having some musical conversations👍🏼
Seeing the legends on stage was one thing but I was always just stoked to see you up there amongst ‘em. I don’t want you to puke so if you’re “tired of seeing legends” you better not go around mirrors.
And you said you couldn’t sing. You sing well. Plus, all those great artists and songs and who do they ask to play it? You Tom. And you should be very proud.
I was lucky to attend Saturday night's show and it was a thrill, what a party. An honor to witness you and the other ladies and gentlemen supporting Willie and friends. Willie is a national treasure as are you Uncle Larry, thanks for all that you do.

Wow you aint kidding.. Found the videos Norris posted. Song with Billy Strings sounded great. So many small amps Mic'd. Must of been wild to mix it. Thanks for posting on it.
It was cool seeing you and Audley jammin' at Willie's birthday bash! Thanks Uncle Larry. ✌💀👍🎸🎼🎵🎶⚡
And you said you couldn't sing. I had a blast listening to Willie's Bash. Much respect Uncle LArry...
Let Larry SING! sounds great as always
Uncle Larry on the short list of The A List….. impressive! and at the same time with genuine admiration speaks about how great the other musicians are 👍👏

Hey Uncle Larry, it was super cool to get a glimpse into such a momentous gig with so many legends! Curious what you thought of Billy Strings? He seems to be making waves in the music scene lately and I think it's cool that he's brining bluegrass to a new generation of listeners. Cheers!
So very Cool, Thankyou. Amazing Intro, WOW. Beautiful Silver Sparkle Gretsch, I have a stunning Gold Sparkle with Bigsby which is my favorite guitar (although least played for preservation reasons, crazy I know). Congrats on successful GIG, loved your performances. Cheers
Aloha, Tom! Thank you for taking us along on this amazing journey of yours. You're living a life that most of us dream about. Thank you for sharing this, and everything else you do, with us. Dude, you got to play with Keith Richards!! My hero! My buddy used to work for Tom Waits, and spent 2 days in the studio with Tom and Keith Richards. He said they had a blast and that Keith was the coolest cat. My pal gave me one of Keith's picks, which I treasure to this day. Sending love from Hawaii. Also, not sure if you saw my post a few videos back, but what's your favorite Twilight Zone episode? Oh, and will the Guthrie album be available on CD?
Great to hear you singing Uncle Larry 👌🏻
sure love this channel uncle larry......i was gettin kinda misty watchin you guys play star dust....Fm ? thanks again for the skoo
saw some of the videos of the big birthday bash.. Just amazing stuff!
Professor, it was very cool seeing Keith give you and the band your props. Doug 😎
I guessed the 6 or G, just from what I remembered? I'm a huge Willie fan, I would just treasure those notes!! I played the same Sunday evening gig, with a guy that sounded just like Willie, for 15 years, and I didn't miss too many! I miss that so much! It was 30 some years ago. Man I grew up playing Willie, Merle, Cash, all the bad ass country and country rock songs. I watched every scrap of video that got posted to YT over the weekend!! I'd have given my left one to take Uncle Larry's place in that gig!! 70% of my music hero's were on that stage!! I felt bad for Kristofferson, he looked kind of frail. Yoakam doing 'Me and Paul", what a classic awesome Willie tune!! UL is right, Willie is in the top 5 all time best!! What a great gig to have!! Thanks for the insight UL!! I got kind of emotional about that whole thing.... --gary
Uncle Larry!!!!! I just saw 2 of my favorite people onstage together!!!! Awesome to see you play with Mr. Lanios and Ms Harris on "The Maker" You must have at least a dozen stories to tell from you weekend with Willie and the gang!!!!!

What a classic tune! My goodness…both the ‘Teatro’ and the original ‘Acadie’ version are unbelievably great.
F minor 7 - Cheers to you, Uncle Larry. Happy to sit in your class.
I noticed the same thing about the guitars in the mix being low. All I could think was “don’t you know that Tom will self mix? Turn him up!” - can’t wait for the remix stream. Also really enjoyed watching the restraint and honoring those songs with simple notes and lines. Master level. 😎
We will miss you with Ann, but love that we have become fans of yours because of that in the last two years. The little blonde girl and I will continue to be faithful Homeskoolers. All the love Uncle Larry! 🤘🏻💜 Willie Nelson gig sounds amazing!
Hey Tom, you're the greatest man. Love your channel and the content. Suggestion for the band name with Gutherie.....The Nashvillians! Keep killing it man. Love your playing!!!
Crushing it as usual.
Can not believe that show......it is beyond words. What an experience! This does not come on often. You were very humble, but I am sure you had many wholly shiite moments. Well done with playing. Keith is the coolest, but Willie is surely right there. Sweet Gretsch! It offers so many levels of sound/genres. I have Stephen Stills Signature White Falcon
Tom you gotta sing more, we love it!!!
Tom, you basically led Kris Kristofferson's "Loving Her was Easier", you did a great job and your sense of timing and reading the stage was superb! And...you were up there with a legend! 😅
Tom - I would keep those charts for your kids --- someday that will be of value to them and able to live in the special moments you were a key part of. That was a truly historical event, and yes, Willie top 5 songwriter without question. (look forward to your and GT"s album)
If you and Guthrie captured the fun you had on the recording.....it's ready for release!
When I think of you and Guthrie playing together, I think of two words. Clear and True. Your sound and hearts are both. I look forward to listening to the new album.
Welcome back from the 90th Willie's party!!! That Beck tune... solid gold.
Dude you killed that! I wish you would have kept singing. I saw some vids from the crowd at Willies bday bash. I saw you playing acoustic when Dwight was singing. You looked like you were having a blast. I envy you sir.
