About your accent, for me it's very obvious but I'm swedish so I'm very familiar with the accent. But what is the most obvious for me is the way you pronounce the letter T sometimes, it sounds very "Swenglish" so that's what really gives it away

By the way. *You don't change your accent. It's a product of your environment.* When I was in Texas for 3 months and came back to California, all my friends told me I had an accent. So I changed my California accent on purpose? Of course not. Not only that, when you speak a language you slowly adapt your English to the way other people speak English. Same when I learned Spanish. I speak Spanish because so many people here speak the language, but where I live most Spanish speakers are from Mexico. So I have their accent. If I'd have gone to Spain I'd sound like them, or to Cuba, then I would sound Cuban.

I really do want to do an exchange year but I don’t want to miss out on opportunities back at home and in terms of subjects and things like, I am in Australia so we start school in February and finish in December. It makes things really difficult

Lauren M maybe you should see if your school does any trips. My school did a trip to Costa Rica for a few weeks for students who wanted to learn and who knew Spanish.

Wait until January and it is 75 F. I think you will like that climate then.

The food market hahaha. I am from Quebec (french Canada) and I did an exchange in Sweden two years ago already... I remember my first real day in Uppsala, I went to ICA and started crying because it was so different from our food market hahaha. Now I am laughing about it, but I think it's the only thing where it felt like a cultural shock

It's true, Sweden doesn't make you very happy when you're in highschool it's hard, yes there are like no rules and it's so chill but everyone is so to themselves it's hard to make friends, no wonder you're happier in USA

Wake up early one day and make is special for your friends ♥ Don't make a schedule, like okay guys on Monday mornings I will facetime you... you will get burnt out and maybe hate having a schedule for facetime and both parties will get burnt out on it. Best advice, keep in touch with your friends... but not systematic, but do because they love you. Also, your host family is private. Just say, "Hey my cousin is Pewdiepie ! ♥ " -- great video and Welcome to "Da" USA... so sorry you are in Arizona right now, so dang hot!

A big thing that people care about is that you are different. You likely won't have trouble because people will be curious about you and where you are from. This might be an issue because it's harder to judge the type of people you want to be friends with, but I can promise that almost everyone will want to at least try to be your friend.
