For those of you who heard my quick reference to Debi Pearl's book, I just wanted to let you know I deleted that section of my video. It was just a couple seconds, but I was able to delete it after a couple of you educated me on it.m. For those of you who don't necessarily do deep dives into the lives of the authors you're reading (like me) you might want to take a look at this article. rachelheldevans.com/blog/the-abusive-teachings-of-michael-and-debi-pearl?format=amp Very sad. I read one of her books ten years ago and clearly it made an impression on me. But, I in no way want my name associated with hers. What about you all? Do you research an author before reading a book, or just go off of recommendations? I'd love to hear. And thanks so much for being here. Let's keep learning together. 🧡

Thanks Megan for being so open to us and walking in humility. I think influencers have such responsibility for thousand a of souls, some people living in real life threatening danger looking up to you for advice. Katie, from Now that we’re a Family quoted a book that said your children shouldn’t hear you nag about their father, even if the dad’s destructing behaviour leads the kids down the path of pornography, kids can recover from it later, the utmost importance is respect towards your husband. 😮 I thought that teaching is toxic. I commented on it but never seen any change.

I'm sure hoping she didn't mean it that way. It's so hard being a content creator when you know what you mean, but have no idea of the way 30,000 people will hear it. I know I've "said" things in the past that I did not mean to come across the way they did. It's hard, but a good learning experience. I think what is amazing is that God's word, the Bible, doesn't change, no matter who's reading it and in what decade, century, or millenia. It's pretty amazing!

I typically go off recommendations and have an attitude like you have here. Take the good and bad and if you know better, do better. I do not like the Pearl's either but I read a book by them before their names were so well known. You are fine, honey. Anyone that has watched your videos for even a minute knows you will not stand for abuse.

Love the rolls and that you make coffee for teachers!! So sweet. On the cleaning convo, I think you hit the nail on the head that expectations need to be talked about, each persons likes/dislikes and irks, tag team chores, and do this all from the get-go! I think a marriage that has mutual respect and clear expectations will see the husband more involved in household duties. In my opinion, if two adults live in the house then two adults help take care of it. I don’t think it should be all on the wife or person staying home, but if it is, that requires a visit back to the drawing board to figure out what works. And if new terms are agreed to, but not met, maybe there’s a miscommunication issue. It reminds me of one of your other videos about marriage counseling and how sometimes you want to go to counseling even though nothing is “wrong.” Thats true- marriage counseling doesn’t need to happen only when something is wrong, but can be preventative. Help set expectations, how to argue, how to communicate, how to set boundaries, etc. I would encourage counseling to those newly married couples, and those having issues, too.

Your living together advice is perfect. I agree so much! I've been in seasons where I stressed to the point where I had a panic attack and my spouse didn't realize just how much I needed his help. I've also been in the season of him doing more than me bc of our schedules and there are times I do more. I actually enjoy cleaning but he is a better cook than me. So we just kind of take turns and figure out what we can both do to help and what is strictly our thing.

I really enjoyed this “chatty” video 😊 - the rolls look delish! - Love your points about the “unhelpful” husband situation, especially taking inventory of yourself first. Something I do that’s been helpful for me, is before I ask my husband to do something, I ask myself, “what has he already done today”. This helps me kinda gauge things, gain perspective, and gives me an opportunity to see all that he has already done (which develops gratitude). And sometimes I still ask for help but then I can say something like, “hey I know you had a long day at work but would you mind taking out the trash anytime tonight?” As you mention, communication is so key!! This is an arena that could always use growth I think, at least for my husband and I. - I’d love to see a vlog about how you pick/plan activities for your kiddos. It seems like they’re doing something fun 😊

The Siena Mattress looks comfortable. I love raspberry so the rolls looked yummy!! I was never a stay at home mother; we had 2 sons and my husband worked 7 days a week at our retail store. I mostly did the housework, laundry, etc. because my husband worked longer hours than I did. I never made it an issue because I just did it! I didn't mind but it was hard. You always inspire and have so much energy!! The kids are so cute. Thank you for taking us along again!

I used to get my feelings hurt by my husband all the time from him being honest with me until I realized that I would not want a man to sugar coat things or just tell me what I want to hear. He was never even mean about anything, just honest and I learned not to be so sensitive and now I love that I can always get an honest opinion from him.

A long=time elf fan here. I highly recommend their bronzers. They are very light and never look fake, and can really brighten you up if you're having a "pale" day, both physically and mentally. On the cooking front, I have a Josh too. It always hurts my feelings when he doesn't like my food. Sometimes he's right, but sometimes we just like different things. It's a work in progress.

Coming from experience (I had a “do it all myself” mentality with both of my pregnancies which actually led to complications); ask for the help! Your husband is more than likely overjoyed to help you, because you are growing life inside of you. Looking back, I know my husband would have helped more if I would have just asked. I don’t think men have the superpower that women do of being able to notice what needs done at any given moment. They need to be asked sometimes, just not patronizingly or passively (as Megan mentioned). Mine was always reminding me to rest, but I couldn’t let things go. Now I see I had control issues I needed to work on (and have since then). Blessings on your pregnancy!

Awww, that's tough. You can't get it all done for sure, so just pick what'smost important and work on those... ♡ Megan is right! Sleep and be rested... it helps so much with how things feel emotionally and your overall outlook to things going on... My 2nd pregnancy my husband was states away and I'm a high risk with weekly appointments the last 6wks and I had to mow, keep house, shop, had two days a week that I did house cleaning jobs with my friend to make ends meet and then had to move at 8mo pregnancy pretty much on my own. I took my 14-22wk old everywhere with me, to most all the appointments because I didn't have a babysitter really that I could keep asking and she became my special little sidekick an we bonded so much during that time and she an God really got me through some dreary days. My husband was allowed to come home for the birth and I literally went into labor 2days after he arrived home lol then he had to go back when she was one week old... it's been almost 4yrs ago now and I can see just how much that time grew me and made me into a better and more compassionant person. I needed a little help in that area (Not saying you do at all!!!). I'm currently pregnant with our answer to prayer... our double rainbow baby, our 3rd precious little girl, and I get my husband with me this time and I feel so SO grateful and blessed. I am higher risk this time at just 13weeks and have lots of appointments already and he has gone with me to almost all of them!! He doesn't work Fridays right now so works 12hr days the other days and due to just having one vehicle I schedule everything on Fridays which has made such great family times for us♡ I am very blessed to Him. He is very helpful minded and not everyone is trained in this area so some just dont realize, but I think just having a good open chat with your husband will do the trick so you can feel a bit more relaxed♡ Megan said some good stuff today!!♡♡

I have the most wonderful husband! It's just the two of us now. Our children are all grown and out of the house. He helps with everything except cleaning the bathroom. 🤣 I'll take it! If I cook, he helps wash the dishes and vice versa. He washes his own clothes most of the time. I wash mine and the linens/towels. If on wash day I see his clothes are still in his basket, I'll wash them! We enjoy serving one another. We're a team! He's my best friend and is brutally honest, always! Sometimes it's nice, sometimes it's a bitter pill to swallow but it's all in love. 🥰Josh reminds me of him! 😂 He's my rock, my champion and shoulder to cry on. We talk about anything and everything. God sure knew what he was doing when He chose my Sweetie for me! 😍

Hola, everyone! hehe. Ladies, it can be difficult at times, but we have to remember that men and women are different, so we're not going to be on the same page a lot of the time. Communication is key, but sometimes guys don't want to communicate. Sometimes men are very frustrating to live with, but they think _we're_ the difficult ones. When worse comes to worst, I have to remember that whatever I do, I am doing it unto the Lord. Stay focused on that.

I love that you experiment with coffee; it gave me the gumption to start making my own iced matcha! It sounds odd, but I make mine with milk, matcha powder, a splash of vanilla, spoon of honey, and for health benefits I add liquid chlorophyll, turmeric and ginger. Yum! It’s a great afternoon boost. And I totally agree with you on housework and husbands. My husband is also a hardworking carpenter; people don’t always realize it, but carpentry literally tears a persons body apart and is physically as well as mentally exhausting! I appreciate his work, and he appreciates mine. I do most of the housework and cooking, all of the homeschooling, the gardening/yard work that I can physically handle, and I don’t mind in the least. I am also teaching my kids to majorly pitch in. Like you said, it’s a balance. The wife may clean the shower (which is a yucky job) and the husband cleans the drains (which, I am so so grateful for. 🤢). It’s a team effort! You mention asking Josh to clean up his shaving mess; for me it was my husband leaving his toothbrush on the counter instead of in the cup. He had no idea that it bothered me and probably never even noticed that I was constantly wiping up the goop left behind. One day I asked him to put it in the cup, and it’s never been an issue since.

Megan the easiest way to make bread is to make it in your kitchen aid mixer with the dough hook. Your cookies might have been dry because of to much flour, you should get a scale and weigh your flour cause the way you do it adds a lot more flour in the cup.

Megan - I LOVE what you do on your channel. Did you know that there is a definite rise in women turning to “traditional wives” to follow their advice. You as a “trad wife” are becoming very popular among millennials, Gen X and Z. Keep doing what you are doing!! Shine your Christian light into our needy world! You are the BEST!!! PS Loved the raspberry rolls!!!!

Yeast bread tip- I was taught that elastic is what I call the window pane test. So you knead knead and knead until your bread is less stickish. Then pull like a golf ball amount of dough off and pull it between your fingers little by little and if you can see light through the thin dough without the dough ripping… it’s been kneading enough 🥰 hope this helps!

A book that my God-Mother gave me for my wedding, "Fierce Woman, Power of a Soft Warrior" by Kimberly Wagner... and it's the best book I have EVER read!!!! So practical and from a lady who has been in the wrong and then allowed God to change her and her husband chimes in from the angle of the one being wronged and it's just SO good. It's helped me so much!!! ♡♡

"What my mother used to do"...I have many of these! I'm sharing this one I read elsewhere. I think it's funny. "I was taught to cut the end off of the roast before I put it in the oven. A friend observed me doing this and asked me why. I don't know...it's how my mom did it. So I asked her. She told me her mother taught her to do it that way, but had no idea why. So we asked grandma about it. Her response? Then roasting pan I have is too small so I have to make the roast smaller." 😂

Hi Meghan 😀 Cinnamon rolls taste like dessert because of the amount of sugar and cinnamon in the layers. Consider tripling the amount of sugar in the dough (my recipe calls for 3 Tblsp so I add 9 - 12 Tblsp) to make them taste more like dessert or a snack. Since raspberries aren't particularly sweet, I see why Josh feels it tastes more like bread 💛💛💛

Awwww loved the “Hola” at the end ☺️ I think she might have it confused with the Hawaiian word “Aloha” which is a greeting or farewell. In Spanish we have Hola=Hello and Adios=Good bye 👋 (Not trying to be overly critical, just sharing my primary language, I love your family, thank you for all you do and share.) ❤

You’re such a good little homemaker… good marriage advice…too. There’s a lot of things my husband helped with we kind of easily found our roles… with him being the one working outside the home and having his own business I did not expect him to cook, clean and do laundry but there’s many things around the place he did do.(I never change a lightbulb for example 🤦‍♀️). He’s also Mr. fixit … the list is endless. The rolls look delicious you’re so graceful with his critique… I wish I could laugh…in times like that. Curious though why you don’t use your mixer for your doughs? I never knead anything by hand so I was kind of surprised.

If you don’t mind me asking, where did you get that white sweater/cardigan?? It’s SO CUTE! ❤ I need one now! Lol If you like Orange rolls, like the Pillsbury brand, then you need to try Orange Marmalade in place of the raspberry filling and the same icing you used. They’re delicious and I constantly get asked for the recipe but it’s just a basic jelly roll recipe using Marmalade. If you can find homemade marmalade or make your own, it’s even better. The lady I buy from has a shop that sells an Amish brand from a local store in Appalachia, NC and it’s all I buy. It’s not as smooth as store bought and is more like pie filling than a jam/preserves. Also, My heart just melted when Miller was pointing so earnestly and saying “Ball”!! He’s too adorable. 🥰

May God keep blessing you and using you for His glory. Your channel really encourages me as a home maker of now 4 boys ( just had my 4th 4/14/23). Growing up in Miami and culturally your raised to become a working contributing citizen and have your children placed in day care at 3 months old. That's what I did with my 1st born even though dad became unemployed and cared for our son till a year old ( thank God). But once I was pregnant with my 2nd i was really convicted by the Lord and we took a leap in faith and I became a stay at home mom. Being I was not reared up for that I did horrible the first few years. But over the years the Lord has taught me and channel's like yours and "this mamá's house" really encourage and further confirm my job a home maker. ( p.s. Hawaii is the country where aloha means help and good bye🤭👍🤗. In Spanish hello is Hola (silent h) and God bye is (adios or hasta luego).

I could understand a husband helping if he gets a day off. Mine works 80 plus hours a week, no days off, so I don't expect any help with the household chores. We both work hard, though my own job is keeping a home and raising and schooling children.

I get our kids to fold their pants or shirts in half once and then roll them. It makes it very easy to see what they have in their drawer. It's not too daunting of a task that way, and they feel accomplished.
