I was buying 300 or five hundred foot rolls from a company in Minnesota but i can’t afford there’s any more. If you’re interested in saling just some plan safety fuse that’s around 23 second a foot or even 30 second a foot is even a little better and it doesn’t have to be water proof either. In terms of lacquer, I have found some model aircraft dope that is a mixture of acetone and Xylene. Would that work?
@noonespecific9463
3 жыл бұрын
Those are 2 nasty chemicals, I have no idea if it will or will not work to coat fuses. If you use it very good ventilation would be good, I once made myself fairly ill using Xylene and we were outside in a breezy environment. If I ever were to use that stuff again, I think I would invest in a really good respirator and put chemical filter cartridges on it. Some gloves that will not break down when they get the Xylene on them also, the stuff goes right through latex and mechanic type rubber gloves. The headache that stuff gave me is something I never want to experience again, it’s why I commented, if a few words of warning spares someone having to suffer the same thing it was well worth taking the time to write. Good luck!

Making some type of switcher that can insert a small patch of red or other colour at regular intervals would be a cool idea. Then you just need to have a mark added to the outside at the same time so many intervals later. You can then cut the fuse the desired distance from the mark. An additional central tube that extends into the bottom of the funnel that you push a paste slug (solvent) into at regular intervals might do the trick. Perhaps if the paste has a dye and a solvent included it would stain the fibres from the inside at exactly the correct place.

How small can you make the fuse diameter? I used to be able to get some great mini-visco that was about 0.060" (1.5mm). I suppose you'd have to reduce the number of linear threads and probably close the distance between the powder feed and outer wrap to keep the powder from slipping out between the threads on the way down. Also probably have to increase the wrap rate (or add more wrap thread spools). I just measured a piece and it's pitch is about 7 threads per cm. Excellent video BTW
@nuxschannel1433

I can make 1.5 mm 2mm or 3mm fuse you swap the fuse forming dies as they are threaded , and drop the number of main fuse body threads to suit the diameter the six outer counter wrap threads don't change in number or pitch , 1 turn in 8mm seems to work for all diameters . Glad you liked the video i am going to do a diy for the machine as soon as I've set my new workshop up .
