Homemade TSX Type S Keeps Getting Better (J35 Swapped CL9!)

J Swapped CL9 TSX Keeps Getting Better: Displacement Up!
By Aaron Gaghagen and Brian Gillespie
Last time we got our homemade TSX Type S with a J32 engine swap running and it sounded sick. Breathing through two exhaust pipes straight out of the block, the J swap sounded like an old school hot rod. As cool as that was, we could not take it for a test drive because we had issues with the clutch. So we pulled the engine and transmission to try to diagnose the problem. While the engine was out we have two major developments that improve our TSX Type S build in a couple ways. Here's a few hints: race car, street car and J35.

    Not bad at all. Easiest to start with an 08-12 Accord Coupe V6 manual donor. This is the path I took to swap into my 2010 TSX race car. Pretty much drop the Accord subframe with the engine/trans installed and bolt it up to the TSX. Some pin swapping on the chassis harness and I kept the hydro power steering from the Accord (4 cylinder TSX is electric.) More detail on my ig hondarcb. Few videos on youtube also. youtube.com/@RyanBradfieldRacing?si=bxFAic29nTSj0Dt2

    I'm a little confused with 1/8th mile figures. I'm green to this for sure, but it seems like even stock 1/4 mile numbers would be lower than 10/11 seconds and the 1/4 mile is twice the distance. Appreciate some help detangling the confusion for me.

  • @VTECAcademy

    @VTECAcademy

    3 ай бұрын

    The last 1/8th mile goes by much quicker as you're accelerating from 70-80 miles per hour. Also on decent tires on an 1/8th mile track, these times would be lower.

This is a cool build, with how many people have raped the k24's out of most of the manual TSX cars, this might just be the way to go. You can probably find a super clean shell for pretty dirt cheap & J-swap it, hmm.....
