As a soap business owner, bubbles don’t clean its just pretty to look at. Your recipe will clean I make it and use it. A lot of people think the more bubbles the better clean you get. It’s not true. This is a great recipe that is why its good for HE washers because of the low suds but yet it cleans.

Would that also apply to car detailing n washing? Most detailers swear that it's the suds that you need to clean the cars surface

FYI. You can make your own washing soda. Spread baking soda on a shallow sided cooking sheet. Place in a 200° oven, stirring occasionally. When it turns gray, it will have converted to washing soda

We make our laundry soap. Our towels were getting grungier and not absorbing water. Then, I saw a video on why. It takes dish soap to hit the grease buildup. So, I tried adding an 1/8th cup , a couple big squirts on top of my mix and it worked.
1/2 batch recipe 7oz zote soap 2 table spoons of borax 4 table spoons of baking soda 4 table spoons of laundry booster/washing soda 2.5 gallons of water 5x 1/2 gallon mason jars Large load = 1/2 cup

I just got a five gallon bucket with lid from the bakery at Sam's club. Sometimes they are $2.50, sometimes free. I thought it would be easier to make the half size soap and store in one container.
2024....just made this...looove the smell of Zote...blessings and thanks from Puerto Rico
I do a homemade liquid detergent that uses washing soda, baking soda, castile soap and essential oils (do not have to use) plus water. Makes 2 gals. No grating needed. I agree with you. So much cheaper plus better for us & environment.

Kathleen how do you make your liquid version?
@sandi0821
Жыл бұрын
Question Kathleen…. I’ve never made any kind of cleaning item homemade, my main reason for looking into. This is my son’s extreme, eczema, and no matter what we use, even though if it says, all free, or clear, seems to still give some sort of discomfort to my son. So I was willing to try this the other thing I’m asking is how well does this dilute? My scrubs for work are black and I’ve been noticing that no matter what brand I buy all It all hammer, game, tied, you name it I always get like a liquid white residue, and I even use an extra rinse cycle so I’m just afraid if this doesn’t dilute all the way and break down and it’s gonna leave a residue? I’d appreciate any response. Thank you.

I love this recipe, and am making again for the 4th time today. My very 1st batch didn't turn out right, it was still very watery and grainy, I used it anyway because it still worked but left a little residue from the soda I think. The 2nd batch I made, I accidentally boiled over the igredients but was able to stir it down. The boiling is the magic that turns it into a gel like laundry soap, it's perfect. Just thought I would add a tip.
I buy the shaved Zote so I don’t have to shred! 😊
Hi I just made this recipe yesterday and used the laundry soap today and wow my clothes have never been this soft :) I am definitely going to be making it again thank you so much for sharing your recipe 😊
That's rt!! Good for you!! I just started after fighting for my life at 38 yrs old I was paying 5* the price for POISON "SOAP" thank you you helped me this will be my first time God bless you!! 🙌💪❤️🙏
So much easier to use and store withou liquid. I air dry the bar soap (zote/fels naptha) then cut into chunks and place in food processor with baking soda and whiz until it's a fine powder. The powder combination dissolves easily in the wash. I made 5 gallons 5 years ago and still have not run out. Love, love, love it.

Zote is usually at Walmart. Fels Naptha is sometimes at our other local grocery stores, was constantly in stock before 2020. Zote smells like citronella oil in the pink bar, Fels Naptha used to be used as a bug repellant by the Amish too from what I have read.
I’m so impressed. Small amount of the additives. Definitely going to give this a try
I love watching your little girl do this with you because this is teaching lifelong lessons on how to make inexpensive, toxic free cleaning products❤
I've been buying tide pods for awhile(at Sam's club). It costs me over $27(with tax) for 108 of them(.26 each before tax). This is WAY cheaper, as there's only 2 of us, but we do a lot of laundry. Thank you
Thanks! Loved the simplicity.. will be using your recipe .. blessings 🥰
Thank you so much for sharing your experience on HM natural laundry soap. Very cost effective, clean, with no harmful chemicals. I'm going to try this.
Hello and Happy New year. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe. I was wonder how to make my own detergent free from chemicals, but you were the only person who shows the final result and how to break it. Thank you so much!!!!
Just made this waiting to see how it turns out.. hoping for the best! My daughters had so much fun with grating and touching the zote, mixing, pouring etc... teaching them about using natural products ❤
3rd time making this! I love not having to use toxic detergents for my family! ❤
I like the idea of storing the soap in mason jars. Typically I use empty food grade gallon containers but those contain eventually fail and start leaking. I’ve learned to regularly check for leaking containers but with the jar method my problem should be resolved. Thanks!

I have two jugs of detergent with the spicket. I am saving those then making this soap. I don’t know but imagine it smells good!
very good video!! I too have been doing the same thing with zote soap and borax for years. I prefer to add the borax into the bucket instead the stock pot. And also being very old fashion as I am, have an old baby high chair next to washer for the 5 gallon bucket to sit on. Fill the bucket just over half way adding water. Next day or so, mix up with my hand and add little more water. Works out great, keep a plastic cup in the bucket for scooping. A whole bucket for me cost about $3.00
Your sweatshirt looks clean and nice. Going to watch whole video. Tired of the high prices for water and who knows what.
Love it. Wow.. didn't realize we can make it.
Thank You for adding your powdered ingredients in the pot as well , works way better this way 😀
Very cool! I didn’t know it gels like that
This video is so underrated ... ❤ Keep up the good work 👍
I love making and using homemade laundry detergent!
I thought you end up with a concentrate (GElled form) and you pour in half the gel halfway up in the gallon jug, and then thrn gfill the rest with water and cap it and shake it to mix....1/2 cup per load. SHake jug before using. So many versions of this. I found that it was gentler on my clothes, but that it does a great job removing stains (If you have a bad stain, you can brush some of the gel into the stain and let it stand for a few minutes.
Thanks for sharing. This will be very useful to know.

Great, will try it. Do you must store it in glass bottles?
Hello! I hope you’re doing well, what size pot did you use?
Have you ever added scent booster and if so did it thin out your detergent
Could this soap be used for hand, body or bath soap?
What does the laundry booster do? Is it necessary? I am allergic to something in standard laundry detergents (the "free and clear" ones are hypoallergenic but expensive), so I'm looking for a minimalist alternative.
Does the bar of soap choice matter ? Are you just selecting something that isnt harsh chemicals ? Would any natural soap work ?
Miss what to use instead of this bar soap ? In my country its not available. Thanks!
Does your soap separate from the water later on after it sits?
Do you need to keep in cold storage?
I made a batch, I do like it, but it doesn't cut grease as well as I like it too, so I added 5oz. of sodium hydroxide mixed with 12oz. of water to the batch after it cooled down.
Can you use this in cold water ???
Thankyou very much for sharing and explaining so well. And giving all the details. You give everything from ingredients , instructions and how to use. Thankyou God’s Blessing be with you
Ok so after you jar it does it form Bach up to jello consistency??
Hi! Thank you so much for easy to follow recipe. The only thing is that my towels don’t really smell clean? Do you have any suggestions? I tried to add more liquid soap but still didn’t help.
The next day the detergent was so think, it wouldn’t pour out of the reused laundry jug. Any ideas on how to this it? Boiling water perhaps?
Like it! Are it not too many bubbles?
Do you use this in a machine washer? I've heard that it is bad for the machines. I'd love to make some but dont want it to ruin my washer.
Prices are getting crazy high and this is very appealing to me. I'm going to try this when I need detergent. And you're good looking!
Can i add essential oils to make it smell moree?
So? The soap will turn like grums? I made detergent and I blend it after I noticed the grums, but came back, any suggestions?
Does it jell in the mason jars??
Hi I’m trying the recipe as we speak but I found that when adding the baking soda it foams up. Is that how it should be?
Is that 1 bar of zote grated or more ?
Hi. How do you get it out of the jar? Especially when it gets partially empty. Thank you.
Be careful as the borax has D rating with Ewg. I bought Molly suds with peppermint as it has an A rating and is super concentrated . I find most people use more than twice as much detergent as needed. Was using Dr Bronners castile soap but noticed it was leaving a layer of scum on my skin and laundry since my water is a bit hard. Im so happy will Molly’s suds.
Realy want to try this but washing soda isn't availble or i cannot find it in my country. Any substitutes possible?
This is very close to what I do. I use 1 cup borax and 1 cup booster. No baking soda. But definitely that full bar of Zote. that stuff is great.

@@Mandy_39 I don't put into mason jars so I can't answer that really. I make it in and store it in a 5-gallon bucket. I stir it up for a few seconds every time I need to take a dip with a measuring cup and pour into washing machine. It's not too thick.

@@Mandy_39 Lowes also sales 5 gallon buckets with a pour spout or you can install one in any container for $.25 at the hardware store. We used one we bought for our livestock. Walmart has pink & turqouise 5 gallon buckets with press seal lids. I keep mine in a party drink dispenser with a tiny quiche dish to catch the drips under the spout. It pours out the spout fine. If I get to the bottom and it seems too thick I had a cup of hot hot water to thin it out again. Works like a charm!

DOES THIS WORK IN COLD WATER?
How much zote do I use?
❤❤❤ can I use essential oils in this? If so how many drops?
How much water do you use?
Can you make less and if so by how much do you cut the amount of ingredients?
How come this separates water on bottom soap on top??
Do clothes have a strong smell after dried?
It's not mentioned, but are we to heat the mixture on the stove as we add the Ingredients to dissolve and thicken up? I noticed steam so on low medium heat? Simmer or boil? I really want to try this but want to make sure I'm doing it right.
Can you leave the detergent in the 5 gallon buckets or do you have to put it in jars . Also how much water did you put in the 5 gallon bucket to start off with before you added the solution in the bucket.
I’ve noticed while I leave my detergent to sit after mixing it will separate is this normal?
I'm making my 2nd batch today.
Is this homemade laundry detergent safe for septic tanks?
When you measure out 3/4 cup per load, is that 3/4 cup for small, 1 1/2 cup per medium, and 2 1/4 cup per large. Or is it 3/4 cup per machine load
Would making a concentrated version of this work? Like would we still be able to mix/breakup the solution after losing it sit overnight or is the dilution absolutely necessary? I'm guessing that by skipping the step of diluting the detergent with close to ~4.25 gallons or more of water will result in a super concentrated solution. The loads for that should only require ~1.5-2 tbsps each. The washer itself should be able to supply more than enough water, but this should let you store the detergent in less space and with a smaller scoop if it can work.
I have a few questions. Does this get separated and thick/gel like again in the jars like it did in the bucket originally? Have to shake etc? Also, I have a top loader with a pull out drawer for liquid. Do I put it in there or pour directly into the fry clothes? OR, should I wait til the water is added before putting detergent in? The HE washers use little water. Thanks. Hope that all made sense.
@MakeitMake
2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it does separate and I shake well before use. I put directly on clothes. 😊
Doesn’t it “re gel” itself inside the jars?
Do you have a recipe and instruction list I can print out?
