Here's how I made a jig for boring/drilling out holes for adding a knob to doors.
An easier way is to just buy a "full package kit' for around 11-12 bucks at a local store. However, I just like doing stuff like this, and didn't want to buy something for one time use. So, ended up making it for fun.
