Nice build. I've tried making stuff from pallets. I found that under cyclic loads a lot less than this is going to see, the nails holding the pallet together work themselves loose. So you need to reinforce the pallet with screws. Also, you should add a foot brake. And probably a foot throttle too.

When you're done you can use a pallet Jack to haul it around or pick it up with a forklift

It sounds exactly like what I would expect a motorized pallet to sound like.

Personally, I like the 'rat rod' look. I think it would look a lot better with holes drilled in the red lever and other metal and bars, rust and corrosion, and a little more 'patina' to it. But still, definitely a great idea! :)

I agree and the chain doesn't have a tensioner adjuster too.

We used to make 2x6 x 5 ft wooden push carts,back in the 60s,your buddy pushed it with a broom handle! Great fun ,when he's pushing ,till it was your turn to push!

So many DIY projects involved that specific wood that you always see in pallets getting cleaned up and like putting the trash sections of warehouses.... like damn I done seen so much random wood that could theoretically be used from past jobs

i like the idea of the pallet frame, but I would mount foot pedals for the throttle and brake and give it a little more ground clearance by mounting it on motorcycle wheels.

Unfortunately he passed away back in 2017 and left me a bunch of inventory from when sold parts and methanol at our races. Thanks for the awesome video.

That is the coolest thing that I've ever seen......

Had one of these as a kid. But I didn't have a fancy steering wheel. Just put a rope at each wheel and steered it with the rope and foot assist. And brakes? LOL!!! Oh for the days of my yute.

A few steel banding straps around that pallet would make it all stay held together, well. ✅

Looks to me that he had to cut and shape various bits of metal… adapting and cutting parts to make them fit…. He didn’t just pull all the exact parts out and build it lol…. Jeeez, there’s always one 😂
