1 & 1/2 hours I was done. 28-pucks and the hole filled cutting board is now dart board style game for the grand kids.

Great info, I have swivel chair caps and I wondered how to replace the cap and found your channel. I may still replace the cap when I figure out how to do that. Your idea will definitely work now.

indeed, these will outlast anything you can buy. I'm so sick of cheaply made junk. We are all so use to it in today's world, that we don't even questioned it anymore. Thanks for the comment. Let me know how it works out for you.

@@PhilCrockett exactly I was disappointed many (okay decades) years back when wiper blades refills stopped being available. At the time, all I could think of is all the garbage that could have been prevented from landing in a landfill or that be was paid to be shipped overseas and was being dumped into the ocean. Planned obsolescence benefits business and in the long run not the consumer.

yes... they don't come around too often, but once in a while you can find them at a garage sale or second-hand store real cheap.

@@PhilCrockett I found one in the "free" box at a local thrift store, I stashed it well under books and stuff, when I came out to retrieve it, GONE! Don't let this happen to you guys, grab it and walk it back to the car; I'll bet it's been chopped up and is sitting under some guys patio furniture legs right now. ☺

You could trace around the feet and then cut them out using a bandsaw, coping saw, or a jig saw.

I'm curious as to why you used epoxy under the glides. Purchased glides just pop in and stay in, until worn down and I replace them. This seems to me that the new "glide" could wear down to be even with the metal, but since it's epoxied in place, how would you ever get it out to replace? Wouldn't some silicone caulk or such still hold, but let the glides be removeable later? BTW: I stumbled on your KZread channel via the glass cutting video. I searched for your channel (?), and found this video, too. I've already subscribed, because I like your great DIY thoughts, and explanations in your concise videos. I appreciate your conservation of time when we don't need to see you do the same thing 4 times over. Thanks!

HA! yes... I thought about caulking as well when I was doing this, but Epoxy really isn't that hard to break loose when binding plastic to metal. I would say go ahead and try caulking, if it works, the great.... if not, then try the epoxy. I just wanted to make sure these things didn't pop out. Since they are on a wood deck (in my situation), they are less likely to wear down. Plus.... the store bought ones are junk and usually hollow, and will eventually crack before 'wearing down'. @@PhilCrockett Miserable with these restrictions. Must wear a mask if you want service at any business. Beverly Hills already boarded up the high end shops. Financial murder of a nation. Only the sick should be quarantined. We have an immune system. Those immune compromised should stay at home. Not everyone! I'm growing my own garden and doing what I have to do. I know food prices are going to skyrocket. How about you? How are you doing? If you're in the US, I'm sure you got quarantine too.

Hi Phil, It was a struggle to remove the plastic glide from the old furniture as the glide was cut out like a donut and the center had metal that tightly gripped the glide. Was left with a middle piece that stuck out making it impossible to glue the new glide in place. I hammered the center into the metal tubular leg of the furniture and managed to wrangle it out with pliers. It had teeth around it that went in one way and prevent removal by pulling out. So basically had to demolish the metal "cap" on one foot that you show gluing the new glide into. Now I'm stuck. Do I completely remove the other 3 caps the same way? (1 is still functional, 2 others are cracked) I bought 4 small caps that slip on tightly over the end of the furniture legs but how to get the other metal feet off is my dilema now. Any suggestions?

Can u replicate the original design by created a ‘ring’.... maybe cut out a large center hole? If I were to make rings, I would first cut the center holes in various spots on the cutting board, then saw out the perimeter (the finished ring) by centering a larger hole saw over each smaller (center) hole. This way, you are working with a larger piece when sawing.

when i try to tap in the plastic replacements it is difficult for them to go in without cracking them. Any suggestions?

How do you replace them the second time of you've used epoxy to fasten them to furniture?

Haven't had to replace them yet. could drill them out with a forstner bit maybe.

That's a thought. Maybe use a glue that's not quite so permanent. Or I suppose of course you could just epoxy the new one on the bottom of the old one? That should work. Epoxy is pretty strong after all

I originally thought about using outdoor caulk. That might be a lot easier to take off

I have a glass table. Patio set but where it connect the table with the leg it broke because it's plastic not metal like the table and the leg and I don't know how to fix it😥😢

Gteat Hack! Only problem is by the time the guides wear out also the toes of the four legs that holds them in are all rusted up and wouldn't even be able to hold a new Glide if you try to press it in or glue it! 😢

a little sand paper can clean the rust out pretty good.

What size hole saw did you use for that furniture?

I don't remember. It's more about matching the saws up to what you have, since the sizes vary.
