hey! just wanted to say there is a thing as purple taro. I don’t know if they sell it everywhere but here in PR it’s yautia lila which translates to purple taro root. Just wanted to tell you in case you find it

you can also try putting the taro paste directly in a cup then adding milk or non dairy milk so that there's a difference in texture when you drink it - it's the way taro milk tea is usually made in asian countries

Hi! Here in Fiji we have a variety of taro which is naturally purple. We call it "uro ni vonu" which translates to fat of the turtle because of its particular variegated, mottled appearance but in a striking purple shade. I'm planning to start up a taro export company in 2024 marketing to China & Japan, and then North America. ☦️🕊☘️✡️🌅📖🌴🇫🇯✨🥥🐟🧡🗻👑

fyi taro is not purple, they only promote it in purple color so it would be pleasing, but the real color of taro is white to gray. If you want to try an authentic purple edible root (except for purple sweet potato) that has very deep purple color then you have to try Ube, it's way more tastier than taro so ube is much more suitable for desserts while taro is for savory dishes. Both are available in my country so I can attest to this. It's just that Ube is a bit more pricey than taro, maybe because taro is a lot easier to find than ube, you can actually see Taro plants everywhere here, but as much as how common ube flavor is, I still don't know what ube plants look like, i've seen the roots or the actual ube but i don't know how it's leaves look like 😂😂😂

Taro has a nutty taste that a lot of people like. Most people are aware of the difference and it is the taste that brings attraction more so than the purple color. There are also a lot of bakeries that sell Ube desserts so it is very well known.
