Homemade China Cymbal. D I Y.

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This is the China Gong!! Homemade Effects Cymbal.
In This Video I tried something different and started off with a 22 inch 1/16 thick aluminum circle that I cut out of a sheet. Which I call my Cymbal blank.
It was really easy to do, I think anyone could do it if they try.

There's something satisfying about watching that metal getting hammered into a cymbal. I think you have good skills as a cymbal maker. If this were a sheet of B20 bronze it would be interesting.

it sounds like you used too thick of stock for the sound normally expected of a china cymbal, you probably want something more like 19 or 20 gauge stainless steel. the 14 gauge aluminum stock you used would probably be more appropriate for a flat ride or some very very dry hihats.

that being said, the shaping work is pretty impressive, very even looking tension and symmetrical profile.

I definitely agree, the material used was to thick and that played a big part in how it sounded. I have future videos coming up where I use actually cymbal blanks. Thanks for commenting, please consider subscribing if you're not already!
