HOMEMADE antennas and GOOD coaxial cable

you can make a KILLER antenna out of an extension cord and a chunk of coaxial cable (keep the coax as short as you can, no coils, no loops)
STEP 1
cut the extension cord to the length (single leg) for the frequency you will be using. CUT IT LONG and adjust swr by shortening wire
STEP 2
attach coax to plug. CLIP OR SOLDER (must be a good connection, clean all parts)
STEP 3
attach to radio and tune antenna by adjusting length of wire (both side MUST be the same )

LMR 400 Flex is much much more flexible than regular. I recommend it. Also never buy coax from a truck stop, junk nothing but frustration.

Super informative, I learned some good stuff. I need to experiment more with my crappy roof antenna, Maybe make a new one out of an old 50' cord I have. Thanks for your time in what you do, it is appreciated.
