I'm so thankful for finding these videos. It's going to be so much help to be able to go back and look at them.

Good. Go back and look at them about 100 thousand times and watch all the ads. 😂. Good luck on your build. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. If you are located close by I would be glad to help if you need it.
Each video gets me fired up ready for season.

Hey Jack, would you mind describing how you trace the cardboard to match the curvature of the sides so well? Do you use something to offset your pen/ sharpie so you can slide it down the side wall as you are marking the cardboard?
@JackArmstrong-jackdaddycustoms

It usually takes at least two or three passes. The first one gets it close by eyeballing it and then you can hold it off by making a fist and riding down the wall if that makes sense.
Awesome build. I will be going back to refer to your videos and yes I let the ads play. Just wondering if you didn’t mind sharing how you ordered the bottom and sides bent. Looks like it was creased to. Thanks for posting.

Thank you! I just told frank at pierce aluminum how I wanted the profile to be. He bent them to what I told him I wanted. I didn’t give him exact measurements but you basically have 96 inches to work with. So generally speaking you can get 56 inch bottom with 20 inch sides. The profile and bend locations are up to you. If you get strakes in the bottom that would make it a little less of course as well.
Looks fantastic, I’m think of building my own from scratch now, only pieces I’m having a hard time sourcing is the gunnels, what kind of gunnels did you use for your project?
@JackArmstrong-jackdaddycustoms
Жыл бұрын
I bought gunnels from the aluminum supplier. He had all types of boat gunnel extrusions. BUT, I have seen many people cut a slit in aluminum pipe and slide it over the edge to form a gunnel. It’s a process but not as hard as it looks.
I can see a FULL duck strap laid on the front deck and the Armstrong boys headed for a pancake breakfast already.

Did you have any issues using the spool gun vs say a tig set up. If someone was going to modify an existing boat adding steps and framing, welding seams. Is the spool gun the right choice vs a tig set?
@JackArmstrong-jackdaddycustoms
Жыл бұрын
i would have rather used a tig for some of it, but i didn't have one at my shop... the spool gun is more than sufficient and is definitely quicker... with enough practice and a good machine, you can get the spool gun to look almost as good as tig... just don't have quite the control all the time...
Awesome job! Reaching out from Utah. Been thinking about building one myself. Might be hard to find a company to bend the hull around here? Thanks for the videos!

boat came out great can you price me one 14ft long with a small center console wanna use it to run my crab traps out of it don't like messing up my bay boat that I got lol I live on ms gulf coast like 10k range if possible what size outboard would you recommend for it 25hp?
@JackArmstrong-jackdaddycustoms

Appreciate it. I’m not building them for sale right now, but maybe one day. This was more of a one-off personal deal. I think you could be in a good boat that size in that price range. There’s a bunch of quality boat builders in south Louisiana that could set you up. It’s part of their culture over there. You could probably even go with a bigger motor than 25 too.
What size pipe did you put in the bow of the boat

Hey man, I'm looking at doing a floating deck. Just wondering is that 1x2" tubing up front? And if so after having it for a while would you do the same again or go bigger?
@jfitzikner9

@JackArmstrong-jackdaddycustoms

It is 1x2 tubing and it’s 1/8” and it’s plenty. I would do the same thing again. Aluminum is light so don’t be afraid to over build it. If you think you need more braces, put more braces. Lol. Let me know if you have any more questions.
