I'm 68 years old Living in my car. Had government housing 3 different times. I tried. Nothing but bed bugs, roaches and rats drugs killing kidnapping ex. And now the rents a so high I'm not giving anyone my whole check for rent can't even afford a coke or a Ramen soup so the people that do? They just sit in front of a TV waiting to die. I'll stay in my car. If I want coffee I can get it.if it's time to go fishing I can. If I don't get along with someone I can move. No bugs or rats no violence or drugs in my car no killing ex. I've a good peace of mind and contentment. Next month get a tent and camp for a while. I learn a long time ago material things don't make a person. And the world right now is run by spoiled rotten brats. I'll just hang at the fishing hole if I don't catch anything I'll cook prime rib on the grill. Sacrificing comfort for recreation and freedom good choice. My only wonder is what happens when I'm priced out homelessness

you definately have the right idea. However, cars DONT last forever. And they do break. So save a little too. Fishing is a great way to pass your time. get a metal detector and get a workout and dream about finding gold. (see your states laws first). A little metal detector and a fishing pole.. enjoy the LIFE your greatest assest. collect a little scrap wire copper and other valueable metals.. for one hotel stay a month or two. you can find lots of metals with a metal detector. some spots on the beach where people sit down are loaded with coins. collect coins and every six months cash out the change. your making the best of an otherwise bad situation. I bought my GMC truck with if we cant pay the rent someday, its a great living out of truck. a topper and a matress, and go explore america. kid you not when our lease expires i might go travel for 3 or 4 months before getting another place if were physically fit for it.

People are LINING UP to live in fre gov housing. They dont get that rent control, not paying rent, long eviction legal proceedings, evictions on your record is all going to push people into living in gov housing or storage units as small ma and pa landlords take their properties off line and illegals suck up other avail housing with gov subsidies

we were going to stay, but we're going to take the loss on the sale of the condo and go back to Chicago. It's cheaper there. But I'll be going to the suburbs.

Jose this video is epic, your coverage of the homeless is great and this couple were well spoken and intelligent. You getting hurt on the job is never a good thing but it shows your dedication to the work you do, it's easy to see how much your work means to you, and I thank you for your content and all the and care you put into it. I live in aone room apartment 625 a month I only get 900a month I pay 100 on car insurance 36on phone it took me three months to find this place to live and nothing else to fent no where here and can't afford anything higher I was homeless for 3months .

Survived through Ian in Cape Coral, right next to fort myers. Ian was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. There’s a weird calmness that comes over you when you realize you’re very close to death and having zero control of anything. Watching that water rise over the vehicles, over the mailboxes up the hill into the yard, and in the backyard it went up to the sea wall…and then another like five feet up over the wrought iron fence our neighbor has. It was wild. Shingles would explode against the house like bombs. I mean truly. Saw a house with about seven feet of a metal rod slammed through their ceiling straight into the house by their front door. Horrific storm. I slept outside for like a week and half. The entire time at night, I was awoken by helicopters flying over with cages, I’d assume rescuing out of pine island.

Im 67 , after six yrs off accidents and illnesses I would be homeless. A non profit charity that helps homeless vets has paid my rent since dec. Its not gonna go on forever tho. I only get 1200 a mo ss. Ive lived an awesome adventurous life . Nobody lives forever.

Yeah Ian messed us up, big time. Feels like plenty of us will never recover

They haven’t done anything to us until they realize that your there😢then you will get back to the camp gone charging up your property 😮and there will be a little sign hung up that reads like property I am Florida department of transportation and you have to leave and they will give you just 24 hours notice to relocate to somewhere else 😢they will be flying over by a helicopter and infrared and that how they noticed my area

You guys need to leave, I left that state when Andrew hit us, I was only making 9$ hr back then and left and moved to my sister making 65,000. I don’t regret it, we don’t have homeless where I live

Ft Myers is my home town as a teenager up til 2002 I left and moved up north but my heart goes out to all these ppl who have lost. Sometimes ppl need be reminded of it.If it wasn't for ppl like this couple there would be no accommodations for the snowbirds. Also the drive to ft Myers from Naples is at a stand still if traveled after 2 pm northbound

Great job and very informative! Do you know of a way to get help to that couple? It seems like they need a helping hand up to get back on their feet and not a handout. Do they have a go fund me or something of that nature? Thank you for doing this.

It happened so quickly i didnt even have a chance to react. i didnt even see it happen i just felt the pain. in order words, no time to react.

Ive witnessed the cops flogging the inside of their tents with fire extinguishers.

I get concern about what we are going to do my landlord selling the property where we live, he been very good landlord reading comments about people being homeless is very concerning I know there is some people worse off than others struggling can be hard I don't think I be ready for that time will tell.

They chose to live there. Anyone like me that has a home near the ocean, loves the ocean till they lose their homes.

Agencies only help n few and they are NOT those that need the help the most!!! Fema doesn’t help unlesss you fit a small criteria n Other programs won’t help if fema finds you ineligible for a Miriad of reasons

Naples is a city in Collier County my point is you have south trail, Iona Mcgregor, San Carlos, Bonita is not Fort Myers its Lee county. Just like Naples there are run down areas on Collier County as well my point is you keep saying Fort Myers

Me too home less since the hurricane NOONE agencies offer help it such a awful story it’s a scam the programs only help a few!!!
