That older lady there at the 5:40-6:05 range. Yep, that's her spot on the exit ramp at I-17 and Cactus in Phoenix. She's there pretty much every morning when I exit the freeway at 8:20AM or so.

@@H.Liddell Yes, it has gotten pretty bad. Basically, GCU continues to expand a few miles South. They are slowly forcing the vagrants to move North. Possibly the changes coming to MetroCenter might help. I work very in the Cactus/I-17 area, and we sold our building, so we're out of there. We receved a fairly solid offer, all things considered. I will say this... Ever since that helicopter and bank robber shootout a few months ago, the police presence has increased materially. That has helped out quite a bit.

Ya I've lived in this neighborhood (Metro/North Mountain area) for 37 yrs. My whole life, I've watched it go from a fairly decent place to live with good neighbors to where I can't let my kid ride his bike without absolute supervision nor can he take the trash out cuz the constant campers in my alley way. It's so bad. I'm moving at the end of the year finally but it's still sad to see what it's come to and I honestly don't see it getting better anytime soon.

My dogs deserve the best I can give them! Junkies on the street? Nah, I’ll pass. I’ve bought food for the homeless before, but I refuse to give any money to further feed their habits.

In most cases, it's their choice. There is social housing, there are social programs. But you can't force many to live there. They're better off on the streets...And don't forget, most of them are addicted...

You're just watching. There is a lot of social housing and social services in the country. But most of these people don't want to live there. They are used to living on the streets. And many of them are addicted and mentally ill.

I think it's one of the most difficult things to solve. You can give some of them some type of shelter but many won't take it. They prefer to be homeless and free over conforming to any type of rules that would come with being sheltered. Also, so many of them are drug addicted or mentally ill. I believe the ones who are homeless due to unfortunate circumstances would benefit from some sort of government shelter but I truly think people who are homeless purely due to financial difficulties are in the minority.

@@Earl_Richter Yes, it is a difficult problem. Perhaps we should ask ourselves what is it about our system that produces so many dysfunctional personalities. The suicide rate among the young is skyrocketing. It is the highest cause of death (after accidents) among those under 35.....absolutely shocking. What are we doing to make so many people addicted to drugs, food, alcohol, cell-phones, etc.? We seem to be intentionally creating a very unhealthy and depressed country. Perhaps there is no profit in having a sane and healthy society.
