Exactly, Homelander thought of him as a loyal dog, keyword being dog. a bad owner can kick them around and abuse them and still expect the dog to think the world of them because in a lot of sad cases they do, because that person is all the dog knows. But in this case, A-Train found other people and realized that other packs needed him. Remember Homelander thinks of a very select group of people as being on his level.

@@bruhvenantI’ve been noticing that parallel a lot in this dynamic with homelander this season with her. It’s like homelander found in sage. Someone who was able to check him and be respected to whilst being honest but not so much with her lack of follow through in power to dictate over him like Stan did. Enough to get the best out of his plans and work with him and save herself with how she undermines him and generally has a high ego herself. But unfortunately especially with firecrackers presence on his ego satiating the narcissistic grief he feels over losing a train. She couldn’t actually get with her words anything but him to listen and respect her in need. But not enough to hide things from and manipulate/control him even for his own good when proven so with the stuff with anika

As they can both disrespect him and tell him about himself but just one has more of those two traits by a few factors than the other. One part of it being out of the others control since sage like with the doctors again. Is being punished by having to be punished by a bigger ego. The largest reason alot of intelligent people develop impostet syndrome is due to undervaluing their skill sets because they think others are like them. Her plans had zero fail safe contingencies and never factored the actors that were in the plan and thejr ability to splinter off. Death note does smart better, attack on titan does smart better. • @BlankEmporium

@@paveesfox375There's equally as much 'dumb' smart people as 'smart' smart people. Look at Edison, or Nikola. They were extremely intelligent, yet prone to stupid mistakes constantly. They were both extremely arrogant and egotistical. Furthermore, Death Note is not 'smart' smart it's 'dumb' smart. The characters there superhumanly intelligent. L has the combined intelligence of 3 full FBI labs combined. He stopped WW3 when he was 8. Light is more realistic, but even then he acts stupid. Like when he failed to control his emotions during the Lind. L. Tailor incident, or how he spared his girlfriend (I cannot remember her name right now for the life of me) despite her hindering his plans more than helping. Even after Rem died Light still kept her around, partially leading to his downfall. Then there's his underestimation of N. His entire handling of the Third Kira situation is a disaster. He failed to take into account the stupidity of his own followers, leading directly to his death. Even in death Light stupidly believed he could still win. Sister Sage is more realistic than them. She didn't stop WW3 before hitting puberty. She isn't a super genuis. She is a genuis. Her ability to manipulate others, get inside their head, and her foresight are admirable qualities. Moreso than Light's blind arrogance and overconfidence. I haven't watched AOT, but from what I heard Eren isn't exactly the brightest bulb in the shed. In fact no one there is especially intelligent, or clever. The series is driven by plot contrivance after plot contrivance. But that's only what I heard so I could be wrong. My point is that there are numerous forms of intellect. It also equally as many forms of stupidity. Humans are not machines. We are all unique to some extent and individualistic. Just because Sage doesn't fit your definition of 'smart' doesn't maker her stupid. It does, however, give away your core values and what you define as intelligent. I'm not judging, just stating a fact.

Not Ego Temporary Lobotomy: It is shown that Sage occasionally lobotomizes herself for recreational purposes, which seems to bring her to average or below average intelligence until her healing factor repairs her brain. This condition can also be caused by brain damage; and if severe enough, it may even cause Sage to speak out sentences that are near gibberish and ad lib. If one of the projects she is managing goes catastrophically wrong while she is lobotomized, she will be unable to correct it. This could be extremely disastrous if those taking orders are unaware of her condition, which she might not think to inform them of. This can be seen when Mothers Milk had shot her in the head during Tek Knight’s party, where Homelander had tried to get her help in manipulating and convincing the affluent guests to support their cause, Sage was unable to do so and left him hanging in the air to improvise, with Victoria ending up saving him in the end. Human Durability: Unlike her teammates in the Seven, Sage is only as durable as a normal human, leaving her vulnerable to conventional means of assassination, except for her head, which she regenerates. Psychological Mental Exhaustion: Since she lobotomizes herself to relax, it can be assumed she often finds her superhuman intelligence overwhelming.

0:29 - 0:33 when Firecracker mentions A-Train and his family have disappeared . It's a small but significant detail that shows you just how far A-Train's come and how he's no longer under the Seven , or Homelander's influence . He not only went against Homelander but went into hiding with his family to save them - a farcry from the man who killed his own girlfriend out of cowardice to stay in The Seven.
