Great video! Other notes: If you have an unfinished room, try to future-proof electric for any additions you plan to make down the road. Starting with a TV but want to move to a projector? Put an outlet at the potential projector location. Other things that I plan for are bigger amps, more power hungry projectors (240v), micro LED displays, strip lighting, etc. Once Sheetrock is up, putting in new circuits become much more challenging to add.

Very helpful video, that filled in some of the gaps in my knowledge about the electrical aspect of home theater. Have definitely run into ground loop hum on more than one occasion, and will keep all of this in mind down the road.

so glad we have 230v single phase 100amp domestics services in the UK, also we wire in 'ring circuits' so each power circuit has 230v x 32A = 7.3kWs available with multiple outlets, so cross phase or under power is never an issue.

Yes, very good advice. Providing one is not experiencing any sort of grounding issues. In my experience the biggest culprits for heightened noise floor (background signal noise) sometimes referred to as ambient sound of the room has to be unshielded cables. Unshielded cables act as antennas for attracting RF and the longer the cable the better the antenna. From someone who's changed his cables multiple times 😢

Good stuff and a key consideration when building a theater. Though, I don't think you mentioned subwoofers which are often the most power hungry component of the theater.

Keep in mind that the total amp draw on a breaker should not exceed 80% of the breakers rated amperage: for a 20 amp breaker the max would be 16 amps or 1,920 watts.

Great video what would be your advice or models for surge protectors that we need to use. Mostly in the case of Subwoofer and amplifiers where the amp requirements are higher than some of the standard surge protectors in wattbox

Just keep in mind that amplifiers and receivers are not toaster ovens and do not draw constant power (even at clipping) They require dividing watts listed on the back by 8 to get an accurate representation of power draw. In other words, if the back of your receiver or power amplifier lists 1000watts of power draw on the back of the device, the amount of power drawn from the wall at full blast (edge of clipping) is only 125 watts!

If you use mire than 7.5-10k watts in your home, you will need to go 3 phase and balance the load, otherwise the load from your house will draw-down the voltage to your neighbor’s houses.
