Home made Velomobile
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
This is my home made velomobile. It is constructed around a carbon fibre monocoque shell, moulded over a male plug. Front suspension is the same as Qest Velomobiel, rear suspension is a self made fork with a Risse Astro damper. Motor is a Golden Motor Smart Pie, controlled by a Cycle Analyst computer that also serve as a cycle computer, displaying a large amount of data. The velomobile is very stable and manouverable, front wheels are 20", rear wheel is 26". Front brake is Sturmey Archer 90mm drum brake, and rear brake is standard disk brake. I have incorporated a kind of "force doubler" to the front brake lever to get adequat braking power. Battery is a 48V - 15Ah LiFePO4 battery, enabling a range of about 200 km in a relatively flat terrain.
I have tried to obtain low drag in combination with good stability and a low turning radius. The emphasize is on practicality combined with high performance.

Looks one of the best home-built velomobiles I have seen in a while
Looks amazing. Thanks for showing your beautiful build. This should totally go on Grin Techonolgies Project Gallery
Seriously well done dude ;-) I have been commuting by mango velomobile for 2 years so I appreciate what you have built there. Quality workmanship for sure.
You are a legend! It's so beautifully made it is hard to believe it's home made! Congratulations!
I would like to see more details on construction and materials used but I don't understand why people give these videos a thumbs down. It's a great design.

This is 1st class quality craftsmanship. Excellent design and function. I would pay for this. Well done sir, well done.
Incredible that you can build something like that!
Amazing! I can see the how you made the fuselage but to make it and then fit the trike/etc inside...speechless. Well done!!

Its no longer a trike The velomobile have its drive train mounted to the hull and not a frame for weight savings
Beautifully designed, engineered and executed. Superb.
the cockpit is awesome! seems like some sort of plane controls here!
This is the best thing I've seen today.
That's some beautiful craftsmanship, well done.
You are quite talented! Nice work! I hope you're still on the road with it!
Wow, superb! Great work, I hope you have many years of enjoying this ride!
What a beatiful velomobile. You did a great job. Congratulations!
Beautiful workmanship and design!
Thank you for sharing and for including so much footage of you driving it. That's very helpful and most videos don't include it.
Respect!!! I wish I had such skill and patience. I’d love to work on such a project, too. 👏
What an awesome toy! Extremely well done and finished
lots, lots, lots of compliments. You have done an awesome job.
Well done Sir! A very professional and inspiring job.
You did such an amazing job! Although home made, it seems to be of professional quality!
This is excellent! I wish it was more in Depth I would love to know more!
Very nice! I've been looking at these lately and your construction technique fits some ideas I had. You kind of skimped on the details of the construction of the bicycle itself, but still very good for a short video. Thanks.
Beautiful velomobile and great work!
Amazing creation. Would love to see pics of what's under the hood, including the suspension.
Nice design, quality work! Congratulations!
Wow that machine looks so cool ,well done
Seriously cool machine dude! I feel so inspired right now...
Beautiful piece of work!
Hi! Very beautiful and efficient model! Really technical and so well equiped. Seems to be really jandy and stable, and very comfortable. Congratulations. 😉👍👌🤙
You're a hero. This is amazing!
Takk for at du delte denne utmerkede velomobiel. Vi setter alle pris på lidenskapen og arbeidet som går inn i et så ambisiøst prosjekt.
Thanks for the video showing this awesome velomobil!
Brilliant work 👍🏻 looks like great fun
Really nice work and I can tell from your workshop you are quite the hobbyist. Reading some of your replies the best was when you are answering the question "why build it if it cost more than commercially available?"and you answerd "because I can!". Yes 110% agree but invariably I end up regretting such decisions once I figure out how much time energy and expense haha. Would love to see this thing in the real would you let someone look at it if they made it to Norway? Cheers 👍
Marvellous, a well made and designed machine. And an excellent video too, the best I have seen on a Velo because of all the action shots, thanks. PS I want one....
Looks very professional!

Very Impressed with your work - fantastic job, you should be very proud of your skill.
Nice! :) I'd like to see more of the front suspension and steering setup. It looks like it could benefit from an anti-roll bar. And/or active lean. ie: forward-back on the sticks to steer and left-right on the sticks to lean a bit...
Excellent work!! Thanks for sharing!
Amazing workmanship
Hat off. You did a lot of work
Beautiful. Similar to the appearance of the Avatar but, with a nice monocoque construction, suspension et al. I want one! Tri-Sled Avatar Velomobile
Lovely work!
Wow, great job!
Sounds awesome. Road legal too. Excellent work.
I'm realy a Fan of your nice Velo
That is seriously beautiful!
Oh my godness such a wonderful machine i love it bravo!!!!excellent job
Very nice work!
love the what I call organic engineering. well done fantastic job.
Good job ,looks like it handles nice.
Fantastic workmanship👈
On the ROAM tour all of the velomobiles with drum brakes, had to use drag chutes to help with the brakes in the Western US. Neither the 70 or 90mm drum brakes could hold on the grades out here. Two of the velomobiles had 6 in. disc brakes and had no trouble with the grades. The discs never warped and neither used even 50% of their brake pads, from Portland OR to Washington DC.
Amazing. Beautiful job.
Brilliant prototyping
Expert build!
Congratulations , Excelent job ... I want one like yours :)
Nice job better then most retail models
Very nice - well done
nice build hope you keep the original mold to make a negative that would make a finish copy.
Reodor Felgan slår til igjen! Godt stykke arbeide!
Great! Thank you for such interesting movie.
This is technically WAY in advance of any commercially made velomobile. It's a carbon-fibre MONOCOQUE. That means the shell is the structure. What does it weigh? As an aside, the Burrows Ratcatcher has a boot in the tail fairing. There might be space in the rear of bjfuruh's velomobile for a boot. splitting the load between front and rear will maintain weight balance
Great Work!! I would be buy one...😉
this thing is awsome ide use it to go to work EVERY DAY :oD
It is quite beautiful.
Well lmpressed keep going ☺
Do you have a website that shows details of the design and the build process? Excellent stuff man!

amazing, I love it!
Outstanding!
Good job.
Så flott! Gratulerer.
Very nice!
Great built! well done!!
That looks fantastic.... l could do with one of these !!!
Wow amazing work. And stylish :) Are you on any forum? I'd like to build something similar. Thanks for sharing!
I think there would definitely be a market for this product....It looks like velomobiles in the EU are > $12,000....Need to take the cost out and make it an E- bike. Cyclists here want to be able to cycle in inclement weather and are willing to pay. It would be good to have a little heater in the bike. Perhaps place a flywheel to have regenerative braking.
Very nice
nice work, i was thinking to grab a mango velomobile too, but they too expensive.. hopefully velomobile can become popular so they can be mass produce... guess the prices wont be that high if they r made in china lol.. for around $15k AUD for a velomobile almost = to a brand new 600cc bike or a car... but ur work is amazing. keep it up mate :)
Its amazing
Very cool.
So cool
This aerodynamic design is exactly how I would want to see velomobiles appear like; then all that has to be done is to make an identical shroud/fairing for a delta style recumbent tricycle, better off with a longer wheelbase to stabilize the center of gravity between the front wheel and pair of rear wheels. Depending on that configuration, a cargo trunk could be placed at the back between the two wheels, or more enticingly, placement of different kinds of motors could be left into consideration; there could be enough space for electric motors and a fuel cell that runs off of ethanol, a extremely small gas motor (Predator/Tillotson 212, both weighing just under 20kg), or a computerized flywheel system which spools up over a long period of time and can be used to accelerate the velomobile beyond the power of the cyclist. All three options could accelerwte such a lightweight vehicle to highway speeds, where potholes are far less likely to exist, and could substantially limit the impact energy in case of an accident by reinforcing the shell and allowing it to crumple around the frame instead of into it.
Absolutely SUPERB. I assume it wasn't your first attempt, nobody gets anything that good on their first try?

Kimdino1 nope! Some are crazy about perfection and overpassing customer's expectation for performances and usefullness! Coming soon with many models meant for different uses :) Nice work to everyone who makes velomobiles, we start from almost nothing as what was made long before was really not as light and as nice looking as what we can do nowaday!
This is so great! I would like to built something like this so I can commute dry in monsoon season. Any more detail or tip for someone trying to built velomobile for first time?

Make a plan! Think ahead! Go for it!
Hello ! what is the highspeed ever reached with it and do you intend to make more velomobiles ? By the way great job !
This is awesome! What cruising speed are you getting with this?
change hub motor controller to model witch has e-brake, to get more range ;) nice build :)
Wonderful job on this. It looks great. How much does this weigh? And any idea how much it might weigh without the electric drive bits? I have heard of other velomobiles with chrome-moly tube frames being in the range of 70lbs without electric power bits. So I am curious how much you figure this style of build (mostly carbon-fiber structure) might get down to.
dobra robota podoba mi sie
Hi there, this machine looks very well designed and practical. Your video is also very good, presenting all the relevant information. Only thing missing might be the size of the vehicle. How long is it, and how wide? (I would guess about 2,5 mtrs long and maybe 85cm wide?) Anyway, Nice work.
Looks great! Although I'd get brighter lights. Can I ask you, what was the cost of the build?
nice
2 years its amazing build im inspired to build one please send me a message if you can help with any tips or ideas!!!!
Look into dynamo bike hubs could fill your power needs heck you could get xm radio
top speed with and without electric assist. wieght with and with out shell. ....is that a computer from those electrical engineer from BC? Very nice.
