    Well, look what the algorithm offered up. In case you read comments from older videos, you should have at least one off-sight cold-storage drive, one on-sight, and a couple of warm-storage drives, and the working drive where nothing is stored. VOE. ;)

    for rocks you should make sure the space between the rebars is smaller than at the sprocket from te rebar to the shafts otherwiese the rocks will stick between the rebar and the shaft and block the movment from the whole chain.

    I liked (not "looked"... edited) watching you create this most handy device. My pasture is filled with river rock & our gophers & voles keep pushing them to the surface. I've only got a few undamaged windows left. Lol. It would have been more enjoyable for me without the music or maybe just set at a lower volume, because I struggled to hear & understand you many times throughout the video... just my opinion. Your implement definitely turned out beautiful. Very nice skills & finish work! I hope you're enjoying easier potato pickins.

    Great build, just one observation, you mounted the chain tensioner on the wrong side of the chain should be on the slack side of the chain if that makes sense.

    I have rocks & broken red bricks (1000's) to dig out of my soil (somebody dumped in here, years ago). Have to get them OUT, and you've helped greatly with this vid !!! It will receive on-going use, for sure, .... Many years ago, this area allowed "offloading" of broken concrete, bricks, mortar, etc. etc ... It's a mess for all my neighbors, too. Great work & solid engineering...only thing missing is a "hopper" at rear to catch the rocks, etc. ....easy to build that part, especially if it's rigged to manually dump the rocks...

    I like everything about it except for your rebar use. Fine for rocks, but would add to damage on potatoes. A good digger actually has rubber over the steel chain to minimize damage. You could probably work something out without too much trouble though. If you do it over, use smooth steel stock instead of rebar.

    Excellent video, Darn which I could have seen the beginning. You will have to build another one and record it. Also you could as a add-on, coulters on each side in the front to slice through vines if you use it with sweet potatoes. What angle and internal width did you use? What is the brand and ratio for the hydraulic motor?

    Like the build but just wondering if it wouldn’t be easier to control the depth of digging if you use a flexible top link(chain works). This way your three point will lower only the front of the machine without pushing on the wheels but still allowing you to lift the whole thing in the air when needed. Just going by how large potato diggers work.

  • @dsfarmns2823

    @dsfarmns2823

    If I did it like you said it would go into the ground like a excavator bucket and it would change the angle of the conveyor that the potatoes would roll back and it would no longer sift the ground. The top link is holding the vertical position of the entire attachment and thus prevents unwanted angle changes which a chain would change due to flexibility

    @@dsfarmns2823 ironic that comment comes from “The Do it Guy” 😂 There are numerous inexpensive Chinese IGBT welders on the market now so that is t a huge cost. There are even fairly cheap mini lathes if you can’t find one used. Honestly though, that machine could be built without a lathe. You can learn all the skills needed from KZread and practice.
