    Thanks for taking the time to explain your set up. I assume this is in your house? Do you find the noise of impact an issue in the house with family members and potentially neighbours?

  • @PeterGoudie

    @PeterGoudie

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi Mark, yes it’s in the house. Fortunately being an old house the noise doesn’t travel far, so it’s not an issue for me. In a new build there would be more noise, I don’t think it would be an issue for neighbours, only for sleeping kids etc in your own house.

    Very interesting and I'm currently working out how to do sim golf in my garage. Regarding the screen, you mentioned here that you used a photography screen over archery nettting. I think on your more recent podcast with Handicap Golf you now have a dedicated golf impact screen. Has the new screen been worth the extra expense?

  • @PeterGoudie

    @PeterGoudie

    The photo screen is a good option when the budget is tight, but yes upgrading to the high quality impact screen has been worth it, it should last years just by the little wear so far. I bought it a little bigger than I needed so I can rotate and rehang it etc if the impact area ever gets worn

    I am looking to purchase my frame from the metal store also. Am I right in saying the diameter of the tubing you have is 26.9mm? Are you happy that it’s thick/strong enough given the width etc? My dimensions will be 250x250 and 50 deep

  • @PeterGoudie

    Hi, mine is 33.7 diameter which is enough for my large screen. It’s very heavy duty. 26.9 may also work but I’m unsure

    Hi Peter, thanks for sharing this knowledge! Massively useful to me as I have a conservatory that has almost exactly the same dimensions which I thought might be too small, but seems I'm in luck and can now turn this space into something useful/fun! Just a few of questions which I'm hoping you may be able to help with 1) Did you use basic galvanised steel pipe? 2) what are the 5 clamps you have at the top holding the screen (seem to clip nicely onto the tubing and different from the tarp clips you have on the side and where did you get these? 3) I believe the depth of this "cage" was 22cm (from your video with Handicap Golf), is that just due to the thickness of the mattress you have behind the screen? Also do you have this secured to the wall in anyway or is it stable enough to stand on it's own (even with the screen's hanging off the front)? Thanks for any help/advice Mark

  • @PeterGoudie

    @PeterGoudie

    3 ай бұрын

    I’m glad you’ve found a use for your space! 1) yeah just galvanised steel 2) they are called greenhouse clamps and I got them on Amazon 3) yes I needed to maximise use of the space so I went as close to the wall as possible but leaving enough space to fit the mattress in 4) the frame is screwed to the wall the mattresses just stand up behind the screen without needing fixed in place

    What is the distance from the front of your mat and the screen? Do you think it would be possible to rotate the mat so your target line is the middle of the screen and not offset?

  • @PeterGoudie

    @PeterGoudie

    Жыл бұрын

    The mat is just over 3 feet to the screen and I hit from about 5.5 feet. It’s best to have the mat at 90 degrees to the screen to keep everything square, rotating it would not work well I don’t think. To have the hitting area in the centre of the screen you need a much wider room

  • @PeterGoudie

    Thanks for that mate. My honest opinion is the skytrak is very good for the money, but the gc3 is totally worth the extra cost. The gc3 is pretty accurate for most shots but would occasionally show a shot that just wasn’t as I hit. If you want accuracy you can trust all the time, the gc3 is what you should go for

    How close does your driver come to the back wall? I have a room the exact same size (12x12). If the net is 6" from the wall, and I hit 5.5' from the net, my driver looks like it will hit my back wall. Really want to replicate your setup, but worried I won't be able to hit my driver. I'm 5'10.

    I honestly think a TV is better, in terms of visual clarity, than a screen. My TV (75inch LG OLED) was way less than the price of a 4k projector. Laser projectors are extortionately over priced; three thousand quid to replicate my (awesome) five hundred quid TV picture.

  • @PeterGoudie

    I agree a tv picture will be better but I think the overall experience is better hitting in a screen with a projected image. My 4K picture is really good and the projector was not overly expensive. Just my opinion though.
