KZreadOHANA! Howzit everybody! Mahalo once again for your patience and understanding with my "Drive Thru" reaction videos! Trust me....I have SOOOOO much to say, but I've got soooo much videos piling up as well ahaha! If this is your first time coming to my page, this is only a series of videos that I already know the artist, so I already know what they can bring to the table, it's just other videos that people have suggested that I really want to see and react to. I in NO WAY want to make this look like I'm discrediting the featured artist...trust me...I can talk...check my other videos =) Sorry the first part of the video I just had to explain myself. I hate not having people understand why I do the things I do and then have to read negative comments when they don't understand....anyways, I know a lot of you have been supportive and patient and I don't know if I'll ever get my list down hahaha....I'll try! HOME FREE: you guys are AMAZING and FUN to watch!!!! Oh my goodness! The harmonizing that you guys do are impeccable! Not to mention Adam with his nature sounds and incredible beats! Worth watching and listening to again Mahalo KZreadOhana & Home Fry Ohana for hanging out with me again today! Bruddah Home Fry =)

The Jaw Harp is not Adam Rupp, it's Adam Chance who goes by "Chance"!

The Jew's harp (or jaw harp) is Adam Chance, and Rob does the phonetic beat, which are recorded on their (new equipment for them this past year) looper. They use the looper for this one and for Castle on the Hill. When they do them live, they demonstrate as they set up the first loops, then they continue the loops throughout the songs. That way they can get in all the special effects that you hear in the studio recordings. It's all introduced by Tim, and he also explains that HIS part is not looped...he just has to sing. LOL Also when live, Austin adds a second "harmonica," in full harmony, at 6:42. When he finishes, lowers the mic stand, and turns back to singing, the crowd goes wild! In case anyone wants to see how that part plays out: kzread.info/dash/bejne/eZagr8l9pdDbqto.htmlm29s or kzread.info/dash/bejne/n6N6tqOBmL3MiLA.htmlm22s A little perk...here's where they filmed this: facebook.com/oakhollowfarm.net/ Chance posted about it on Facebook after an interview about it. He's from Alabama. :-)

I already mentioned this on another reaction video but the sound Chance was making was a dead-on emulation of a jaw harp (also called a juice harp or even Jew's harp in less enlightened days). It's was a popular instrument in 20th century country and bluegrass music. They only cost about 10 bucks and are easy to learn. By the way, Home Free was dressed in period clothes to match the 1937 rural Mississippi setting of the movie "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" which featured this 100+ year old song several times, bringing it back from obscurity to win a Grammy.

My first though was also didgeridoo and then I realized it was mouth harp (Jaw harp). And, I thought it was Adam Rupp but actually it was Adam Chance doing it. And Adam Rupp's harmonica? Insane.

I love you even more now. As said by someone else, your videos are better than 99% of the other reaction videos out there. You don't talk through the entire video and you really pay attention to it. You don't continually pause or skip through the video and disrupt the flow. You are always positive, genuine and spread love to everyone like we are family. And you love Home Free as much as we do. We couldn't ask for anything more! You probably have found this out already, but Adam "Chance" does the Jew's/ Jaw harp and Adam Rupp does the harmonica....just so you don't get the two Adam's confused. Also, they all can do some sort of sound effect and they seem to be showing more of it now since they started using the looper in a few of their songs. Thank you for responding to this new video so fast. We love you!!!

Thanks for telling a little bit of your story. I understand about taking care of your mother, my mother has dementia and it's been a long road with her, but family always comes first. I appreciate your videos personally because you have been so good at connecting with us and reading comments and rapidly reacting to the videos, and you do it well, better than other reactors do. I mean this video just came out yesterday and you are the first reactor to do it and really you should make a buck or two out of it because you have a talent for reacting. Home Free for me is a group that heals my heart, their harmonies and talent stand out and I enjoy watching you find them and enjoy them also. Please do go see a concert of theirs when they come back to your area, and they will, they do shows in CA often.I've seen them do this live and the sounds they make are incredible! Adam does the harmonica sound, no harmonica there, and it sounds just the same. My jaw was on the floor watching him for real.

Don't know if anyone else said this, but it's actually Chance who is doing the "jew harp" sound. When they do this live they use a looper and Chance lays down the "jew harp", Rob lays down the vamp, and Adam lays down his groove so then he can do the other layering parts with the harmonica. From what I've heard the jew-harp sound hurts Chance's throat.

Hi Sam. I actually think the drive thru reaction video concept is a great idea. Especially for an artist you’re familiar with it makes sense that you wouldn’t have as much to say. And your face and eyes are so expressive that your reaction is being broadcast as you watch the video. It should keep your fans happy too because we get more videos so everyone wins. Thanks. Love your reactions.

You do a GREAT job! You are a wonderful reactor, but more than that, your personality lights up the world around you (and ours, while we watch). I don't think you have to worry in the least about your Drive Thru reactions...you do far better with those, than most reactors do with longer ones. I hope this never, ever gets to be a burden for you, and that you continue to enjoy yourself to the max. A year ago in May, my right hip broke itself (after many years of struggles as both hips had gotten worse and worse until I was basically bent over in sitting position, forward, when "standing." After having that emergency hip replacement surgery, I spent nearly a whole month in hospital. During that entire time, I got to spread the Home Free fever to many people, and meet a bunch of other Home Fries as well. Not only did I spend hours and hours listening to and watching their KZread videos, I also started watching reactors. I NEEDED all the input, during the hours when I couldn't sleep. Then in July 2017 my left hip was replaced (with only a few in-hospital days that time), which finally gave me the chance to [work hard and] even walk very nearly upright once again, most times anymore, without my walker (for the first time in about nine years), though I'm still progressing bit by bit, over a year later. I'm still listening to Home Free every day, and I watch reactors all the time as well, plus I'm finally back to making my own gaming videos pretty much full time as well. I totally understand that you may not have the time or the ability to respond at times. Sometimes, even though I try very hard to catch all of my comments (which are only a tiny fraction of what you get), KZread messes up and the notifications don't get to me. So I just try to catch up on those times when I can, but it's not always easy. At any rate...you are a blessing. I love the "sunshine" you bring into the room when you listen to the music you love, and your knowledge of music in general is a huge plus. Keep up the good "work," but more than anything, I hope you enjoy what you're doing as long as possible. Just a thought...you actually COULD try doing Patreon for this...I have a feeling you could have a very good success from that...but then it might become "work," so...yeah...just a thought...and let me know if you do...

Aloha Grams! First off, I hope and pray you are doing and feeling much better now! Secondly, I've had too much to deal with growing up as the only child so yeah, taking care of my mom and dad at a very young age WAS and still IS demanding of me let alone I have my own family too. My dad went home to be with the Lord on October 14, 2009 at age 89, 14 days short of turning 90. Here's the kicker of my story/testimony, I'm 62 years away from my dad and 35 years away from my mom. You were looking at a 3 generational family. I'm turning 37 this November 6, so you can do the math =) Anyhow, at age 13, I was pretty much forced (because I had no choice; no siblings) to grow up and take care of my parents. From memorizing SS#s to Medical Record #s to memorizing medications for both of them, having my name added to being health directives at age 15, then to understand medical terminology.....the list goes on. So yeah, having to take care of mom now, dealing with doctors and nurses is a breeze now, but it takes a toll on me physically, mentally, and emotionally so yeah....finding this opportunity to join the reactor's world was an outlet for me. So thank you for acknowledging that! Lastly, some others have mentioned Patreon to me, but like you said, I don't know how much work would go into maintaining that again. I'm already sleeping past midnight almost every night trying to edit my videos =/ but how could I pass for that? I'm only reacting? Then again, I never looked into it so yeah....I'll have to read up on it now that you mentioned it =) Okay....that's enough from me for tonight hahahaha....gotta finish up Amazing Grace with HF & PH before bed hahaha! Mahalo much like always, Bruddah Home Fry - Sam

Quite a few reactors do Patreon. One of the successful ones (who also does other things like having her own merchandise line, but I know that didn't come right away) is V Reacts. I'm not a patron, because the line of things she reacts to aren't what I care for, generally speaking, but she's a very nice lady, and does some great Home Free reactions. :-) Here's a link to her Patreon page. If you click her "become a patron" button (you don't have to follow through...it just takes you to the pledges page), you'll see that she has only two tiers: $1/month and $3/month. Most patreons have four or five tiers, and most of them are divided into two different ways: one for the monthly amount for EVERY video that is posted in a month, and one for a flat monthly amount. I have six patreons...all at $5 flat fees, once a month. I would love to be one of the biggies, but just can't do it these days. I still love to love on my favorite artists in at least that small way, though. Personally, I think you really have what it takes to perhaps go quite big with Patreon, but I also know how it is to try to get just the basics done at home when you are working, too, and you'd need a LOT of patrons in order to sustain what you do. I raised six children while also working, most years (I was also a single parent of four before I finally remarried, gained a stepson, and had one more baby at age 35). There were a few years when I ran my own business out of my own home, and loved it, but even that was taxing, because then the work NEVER stops...plus for two years, part of my home business was doing bookkeeping for other people, so I did have to travel out to get the work to do and then get it back to them...before all of the wonderful internet stuff where you can get all that kind of stuff digitally. At any rate...if you ever decide to try Patreon, let me know, because I believe I'd jump on that bandwagon. :-)

Thanks Sam!!!! Family first always! I love that you love HF as much as we do... definitely (as others have said below) check out the live version and you will get to see the parts being added to the looper... Chance doing the jaw harp, Rob doing the "da da doo" and Austin doing the "oooh.. oooh" in the back ground and then in the live ones you can see Austin and Adams "duet" on harmonicas! They never cease to amaze, surprise and thrill me with each new song they do... no matter how scaled down and simple or intricate like this one.. AWESOME!

Yay! You're the first to react to this new release! What a great way to start my day.....with an awesome reaction from you! The guys really outdid themselves on this one. This video was shot in southern Alabama....and it was pouring rain during the shoot! I think the rain adds even more to the video! Not so much fun for the guys, though! The sounds at the beginning and end are actually Chance. You should watch a live show of this video....even if you don't react to it! In the live show right before Tim sings, Austin actually harmonizes with Adam on the harmonica sounds! It's awesome! FYI ...you won't hear HF on your country radio station.....not one station gives them any air time! I think a HF marathon would be fantastic!

I just discovered you today. I'm a big Home Free fan. I just started this video and was sad to hear you may be getting some negative feedback. Please ignore. You do you! Do what makes you happy. Most of us know that these videos take time and work and know that you are not compensated for making them. Thank you for doing them and please, at your own pace, make more. It's a joy to see others enjoying Home Free especially for us that have been fans for so long. Your videos bring them new fans and we appreciate that and the respect that you show all artists. Again, thank you and Blessings fellow Home Fry. 😉

Sure you know this by now but that's not Adam, that's Chance doing the weird digeridoo sound. Said doing it actually hurt his throat.

Great reaction. You don't have to do a reaction but you should watch a live video of this. Austin also gets in on the harmonica sounds. I have a few live videos on my channel if you want to take a look. It's amazing to hear this live.

Incredible live!! Chance starts w/jawharp (1st time Adam used loop station to continue it thru the song), then he bboxes (& loops some of that, so he can "harmonica", in between).😊

I can't tell you how many Home Free fans were not country fans prior to hearing them--me included. I was strictly classic rock B4 HF. lol I think of them as a gateway to country music. They draw people into country who shied away from it.

Hey Sam, if you're really impressed by the harmonica, take time one day to do a search for the Grandfather of all male vocal groups, The Mills Brothers. They sung barbershop and popular songs for 50 years. They were the guys that originated the instrument sounds with their voices. Granted, they weren't as advanced as the groups today, but they're the first group to do it.

Bruddah Sam, you don’t worry about the negative comments! That’s what I like about your reactions! They’re genuine! I think it’s what your true ‘ohanas love about you! You are the only reaction KZreadr subscription I have on my account. Oh, the Didgeridoo sound is probably more of a Jews harp sound (done by Adam Chance) considering the song’s original source and time period and region. If you’ve ever seen the movie “The Big Lebowski” (or even if you haven’t. I hadn’t prior to seeing my first time watching the video), check out Home Free’s cover of “This Is How We Roll” originally sung by Florida Georgia Line and Luke Bryan. m.kzread.info/dash/bejne/c3x_qJSMmJbeirg.html It’s an entertaining one, to say the least. I didn’t get some of the things in the video until after I saw the movie, then I re-watched their video and had a few “Aha” moments. lol
