Thank you so much to Home Free and Billy Gilman, as well as the amazing production team, who allowed me to portray this role to help spread awareness around such an important subject. As Mental Health Awareness Month comes to an end, I encourage everyone to reach out to their loved ones and tell them exactly how much they matter. For those who have already lost someone due to suicide, I mourn with you. May we do our best to live thoughtfully as they look down upon us. If anyone needs to talk, I am here for you.

I've never had a comment hit me quite like this. My mother is an angel, but I grew up with separated parents, barely knew my dad. I had a pretty great childhood (inside the home), but I had a large amount of mental turmoil. A lot of bullying at school, which is why now, I don't let people get close and people say I'm "scary". I built a wall and an image of "don't F with me". I have serious anxiety and anger issues (military PTSD certainly doesn't help, but that's another story). But I also had Billy's music to help me. I used to sing this one to myself at school. I'd listen to this album on my walkman while I lay down in bed at night with my eyes closed. Imagining what the world would be like if every kid took this song to heart. My heart hurts for what you had to endure and I pray for your healing. No child should ever have to go through that. Just know that you are loved.

The pain he had when he was alive doesn’t go away because our boys and I carry it with us now. Austin, a few months after his death I took my boys to your concert and it was great to see them smile. Watching this video I prayed for the kids of all ages who don't fit in, who at best are just lonely and at worst bullied. Who begin to wonder if the only way to end the pain is to end their life. At 14 I was one. But there is hope and His Name is Jesus. He stood up for those who were bullied and against those who took advantage of or bullied others. He layed down His life for all who would come to Him. These kids need to know He is there for them, that His arms are open for them.

I'm not a religious person, so I'm not going to tell you "God loves you". I hope I'll be far more practical. Please seek help from a medical professional. Like you, I battled depression. I finally found the courage to speak with my doctor about it. First, he didn't look at me like I was weird, or that there was something "wrong" with me. Second, he put me on medication that has helped me immensely. There are days when it's still a struggle, but it's better. He also referred me to a counselor who's been helping me as well. In addition, there are other things you can do to make yourself feel better. Somehow, find the energy to get up and get out and go for a walk. Somehow, find the energy to get up and put on some make-up and put on some clothes you really like. Best of all, I get two new friends--two little puppies. I have to take care of them now. I have to get up and take them outside to go potty, I have to take them for a walk, I have to train them, I have to feed them and make sure they have water. They depend on me and I can't let them down. Getting an pet may not be right for everyone, but it has helped me a lot. Having a hairy little puppy sitting on your lap and reaching up to lick your face can really help some people. And I hope that when groups like Home Free (that have such a huge following) tackle this issue, it will help people who need it to seek help and for those not suffering from depression to recognize that a person who is depressed isn't "crazy", "mentally ill", or of lesser intellectual capacity.

I've been taking medicine for depression for many years. It's not a cure-all, obviously, but it does help. Life has been difficult since I lost my job due to the pandemic. Most of the time, I just don't want to get out of bed in the morning. I haven't been suicidal, though, since I was a teenager, and I know that things have been a lot worse. Just know you don't have it the worst in life, just as I don't.

Claudia siebert that's one statement that I wish could be true but I really don't think will happen. I can totally relate with Thomas Cole because I too have been there and struggle with PTSD on a daily basis. While I don't think those scars ever heal but we just try and find ways to help get through the struggles. I've known people who take to the bottle and pills and whatever drugs they find helps with their demons. The VA for me has done more damage than good with my PTSD with all the meds they would throw at me and the rushed therapy sessions you don't ever seem to get to the root what caused the PTSD in the first place.

Thank you so much for doing this song. So timely. As a mom and teacher, it really hits home. Years ago, on a whim, I had my 6th graders swap journals with a partner. A boy came to me just before school let out, showing me what a girl wrote in his. She wanted to kill herself. I went to our social worker. That night, the girl tried but they caught her in time...because of that boy. He heard her voice.

I have the exact same reaction. As a sixteen year old I accompanied the first years (12 years old) on their school trip. Later on during the school year, one of the girls that had been in the little group I had been responsible for, came to me and told me she was stealing her mum's sleeping tablets to eventually overdose on them. I told the vice principle who contacted her parents. I was happy she confided in me, but I was super scared as it was a heavy burden to carry. As far as I know, she never actually committed suicide.

I've never been a person who appreciated covers very much. My vocal coach always said to me that just singing a song isn't enough. If you're going to do a cover, you have to bring something to it. You have to make it your own. Home Free KNOWS how to make a cover like few others do. They take the most amazing songs and find a way to bring something fresh, new, and amazing to it each and every time. Absolutely gorgeous! And welcome Billy Gilman to the Home Fry family!! Well, it was Billy's song 20 or so years ago... So this technically isn't a cover... just a new rendition by the same artist with added collaborators. But you are right, cover songs can be very, for lack of better terms, lacking. However, most if not all of Home Free's covers are always fresh and some are even better than the OG.

Thank you so much to Billy Gilman and Home Free or this song and message! I lost my daughter to suicide so I understand how important it is to get the message out there that there is help and love and compassion out there for all of us. My daughter chose a very permanent solution for a very temporary problem, I had no idea that she was at such a low point in her life. She wasn't alone and had a whole family who loved her dearly but in spite of that she still felt alone. Please if you feel like you can't go on please seek out help and just try that before ending your life, it might just change you life for the better. There really is many people out there who do care a whole lot so just know that you are never alone. ♥

This hit me hard. I was that boy in the video at one point in my life (lots of years ago). I went right to the brink. It was only because of a single person that I am here today. I was so grateful for that person and they don't even know they did that for me. Just the fact that they took the time to want to get to know me is all it took. I felt so alone that I couldn't see any of my family and friends around me who did love me. It took a complete stranger to open my eyes. Understand that you can make a person's day/week/month/year/life if people would just take the time to say hi or even smile at someone they don't know. Thank you Home Free and Billy Gilman for bringing this song to another level.

Thank you Home Free for making this song and video with him. Awesome song and Awesome job!! Love It. Judge NOT least thee be judged. There is only one God and we cannot fathom his ways. Please people, stop making life harder on each other, we all have the same goals. Enjoy life, stop worrying about what you think other people are doing wrong and just work on making life better, for ALL of us. Wish I could "Like" this video a million times. Billy, I know your voice has changed and you are probably sick of singing this song, but your tone is so much more mature and beautiful now and this version of the song is beautiful and will touch the hearts and souls of so many. As others have said, I would love to have Billy sing more songs with Home Free.

For those of you who "thumbs downed" this, What is wrong with you? This was such a beautiful, eye opening song. So beautifully done. I loved it. On another note, when my son was young, he would listen to Billy Gilman over and over. I asked him, you must really love this song. He replied, "Mom, this kid can scat!" 🎤❤

I lost a very good friend to suicide. I often ask myself if there was something I "missed" or something I could have done to prevent her death. I still haven't found the answer. We love you and miss you, Kim.
