I apologize for the audio troubles! I used a new editing software this time around and while it sounded good on my end, I can see that you are all having difficulty hearing me. I do apologize and I see your comments! I am working to fix this for subsequent videos and unfortunately, I can’t fix it retroactively. Your feedback is appreciated! Have a beautiful day 😊.

One thing I have found with purchasing pillow covers, I’m not storing 20 pillows. I have six or eight and I change the covers and they’re always out. So I’m only storing the pillow covers which takes up a lot less space 👍🏻 Also, Amazon has a great selection of pillow covers in a variety of sizes.

  • @WereRen

Growing up my mom always got dish towels for each season, and I’ve started doing that now too, because they’re easy to store but a cute way to add something in the kitchen for the holiday. And she would buy fresh flowers that went with the season because they get discarded anyway. I’ve started to do these things too so i don’t feel fomo about seasonal decor!

This. We’d always have curtains, tablecloths, kitchen linens, bedding sets, etc. that matched each season/weather. Sometimes we’d switch them out for a change of pace out of season, but it’s a fairly inexpensive way to easily decorate your house. Plus, nearly all of these things have lasted 20+ years.

And choose books that resonate with YOU! I've been able to find so many awesome coffee table books based on nature and places I love to travel and they look awesome, cost almost nothing, and of course are second hand. I do have a small handful of coffee table books on interior design that I actually have read and enjoyed and to me those are worth it - but if I'm not interested in the contents of the book, I'm not buying it. I have books that I place around my home but they are not your typical “coffee table book.” They are books that I get anyway because I honestly love to read and they are about subjects that I am genuinely interested in. Many times you can pick up fantastic books at thrift stores for next to nothing. I never really understood the wooden bead thing but farmhouse is not really my style so maybe that is a farmhouse thing. Maybe try other florals, branches. There are so many interesting textures and colors & honestly the prices they’re asking for dried pampas grass is a bit insane. I go out in the garden or forever along the river. Just be safe and don’t cut things down that you shouldn’t. Check local ordinances. Call your HOA manager. Sometimes the landscaping at the end of a season is going to die anyway. Ask if you can cut some of the tall ornamental grasses at the end of the season. You can dry it for use. Remember that trends come and go because so many people jump on the bandwagon. Stay true to your own personal style and you will end up with a home/space that you love. ❤️

I know, right? For now, I think Amazon & Walmart have decent pillow inserts. And then there are sites like Zazzle where you can design your own pillow and then buy a version of it that is a zippered pillow case & an insert. I really wish that more stores sold separate pillow covers.

For seasonal decor I’m a big fan of a seasonal door wreath. They’re easy to store and can be enjoyed by not just you but your whole neighborhood as well. And especially since it’s a pandemic and people aren’t really visiting us in our homes, it makes sense to focus the impact on something actually visible to others. Plus wreaths are super easy to DIY and customize to your specific style. And inside maybe focus on a fresh seasonal grocery store bouquet to add some seasonality in something that you won’t have to store. Or if you have a garden or access to wild areas outside you can make floral arrangements for free.

I have a few small spaces in my home where I place seasonal decor. There’s a spot in my kitchen where I change out a small hanging plaque. In my dining room, I change out the runner on my table and a small display on my hutch. In my bathroom, I change out the flower arrangement on the wall, and a small shelf that’s just large enough for a small plant. In my daughter’s room, I change the small display on her shelf. Literally, every holiday fits in a small dresser in our guest room. If I see something that’s great and I love- I get it, so long as it can fit in one of those spaces. If it can’t, I let it go. No sense in cluttering up our space when it’s only out for a short time.

Great information! There definitely needs to be a part 2 and PLEASE add to the list of people who over accessorize!! They literally try to put every item they purchase on a table, bookshelf or on every wall in the house because it’s pretty or they got a good deal ! Some of things just don’t make sense! There are so many things to look at you - it starts to look like a flea market! If you love accessories like I do just switch them out from time to time instead of putting everything you purchased from HG on your table! There are so many influencers on YT that are guilty of this and people respond by saying “you have a great eye for decorating everything is so pretty “ PLEASE STOP ! They make the space look cluttered and junky! Try purchasing quality INTENTIONAL pieces! So we can get a better idea of what your style is and not look at ALL your great finds in one space!! It’s just my opinion!
