Praying for you and Jason let him know we miss him. Stay strong Leslie ❤
I hate open shelves! Our last home was a farmhouse style and open shelves made it look so cluttered and messy no matter how often i cleaned it. My husband would set mail on it, random things, anything i was holding as I walked by, i would naturally set it there and it made our home feel sloppy.

Yes, we had the same issue with an open shelving entertainment wall unit.😢 I need doors 😊

I am With you on the open Shelves!:). I like maybe a couple small ones here and there for decor but couldn’t handle it everywhere😊

It’s funny isn’t it the difference between people, I have just gotten open shelves in my front room and I love them it’s opened up the space so much more than the furniture I had before xx

You are the epitome of trendy 😂
I just do my own thing and I get so many compliments in my home just stick with what you love ❤
Great talk with us. I was almost agreeing with everything you said especially open shelfs. Not a fan at all. This was fun. Can we maybe do a mid year up date to see what made the cut and what didn’t. I think that would be fun. Thanks again. ❤️🥰❤️
I couldn't ever do what's trending because I don't care even a little what everyone else is doing this year😂 Like you said in the beginning, do what you love! I've always done that. And right now my house is definitely MAX (whatever that trend is called) and I need some serious decluttering!! 🤪
Oh Leslie you crack me up! Your personality is so cute and refreshing. I just love watching your videos. I’m right there with ya about open shelving and glass cabinet doors. It can lead to a feeling of clutter for the kitchen. Tapestry is something I’ve never done, however, when our son lived in Japan for several years, one of our Christmas presents was a beautiful Japanese Geisha woman with a beautiful umbrella surrounded by cherry blossoms. I took it to Michael’s and had it framed in this gorgeous walnut frame. Its gorgeous. It’s hung in a guest room. Thanks for sharing this years trends. Have a wonderful Sunday my friend. 😊❤
I agree about open shelving! Dust 😮and clutter! I agree the more and better designed cabinets the better!
Love, love, LOVE this video! I enjoy hearing about new trends. However, I married a widower many years ago, and chose to live in his house. It took quite a few years to “gently” change decor and colors, etc. to make it “our” home. In the winter of my life I love my oak kitchen cabinets (NO open shelves), our rocker recliners in front of the picture window where we sit each morning and have coffee and he watches traffic, and I watch the neighbors. Our home is decorated with my quilts and his end tables. We share 21 grands and greats and love them all. All wallpaper has been removed, rooms painted in colors we love, except the badly textured walls in my sewing room. I no longer watch the decorating shows, but I LOVE your videos!❤️🙏❤️
I agree on the open shelving since day one. It's a waste of storage space that could be used for other things and architectural design
I have wasted so much money on trends particularly in the area of accessories. Filling a home with items from Hobby Lobby, Target, etc. can just add to the clutter. I am slowly investing in classic pieces that will never go out of style. In my humble opinion, less is more.
I’ve lived with dark walls before and I’m not going back. I prefer a brighter and cleaner look in my home. I did pick up some brass pieces to add to my decor and I will say it gives a very warm and rich look to my space. Mixed it with some rattan and bamboo type stuff and I love it. $100 at Home Goods and my space feels so refreshed. I do love the branches too.

Sounds like my style and love the white for a clean bright and happy look😊dark colors give a feel of gloom and just feels dungeon like. I would someday like a library in my home with dark walls! Would love it, but just that one room😊
I like putting my toaster away because I dont use it that often. Hiding appliances is greay because it feels less cluttered
Thanks so much for sharing what's trending. I am a traditional girl, so I stick with that but enjoy seeing what's the latest.
I agree with getting rid of open shelving in the kitchen. I don’t see how you could keep the items on the shelf clean. I don’t like dusting that much.
I totally agree about open shelving, I've never been a fan!! Great video, thx!
Thank You!!! Open kitchen shelves are the worst!!!
I agree with you 💯 on open shelves and plaster hood vents. I don’t mind a couple open shelves in areas where you can’t fit a cabinet, but not in place of cabinetry. I prefer wood vent hoods, although I have seen a few plaster ones I’ve admired. The Merlot coming back is funny, I also had some of it, I particularly remember the Merlot drapes I had. At the time, I loved them. I can’t imagine them now. I’m not someone who can run out and change decor and or furniture every few years. I want my design to stand the test of time. Love your honesty and sense of humor!
My house is eclectic. If I like it I buy it.
I'm glad open shelves are going out. They are a waste of space. The other things I'd like to see going away are the ugly chairs without arms, sofas that are ultra deep where we short people can't even sit back, and anything farmhouse. Maximalism won't work for me; clutter drives me nuts.
I think it is actually the designers who love open shelving and push it on their clients. Most of my friends when they succumbed to the designer or tv shows, actually wound up later, ripping them out and replacing with cupboards. I love cupboards for all the reasons you mentioned, however, I love the look of a couple of cupboard doors replaced with glass inserts. Love, love love them. I like the traditional classic style of design and so I still use wallpaper, colors on my walls (no merlot but dark emerald green), and traditional furnishings . I am a grandma but I do not like clutter so I could never live like a Maxxxxx. (something); it is so discombobbled and unmatching, it would drive me crazy. Bottom line: I discovered that if you wait long enough, you'll be back in style ! Great job, Leslie. Grandma from Texas
Totally agree about open shelving. I like everything out of sight in the kitchen. A closed cupboard also keeps things cleaner. The Max designs make me shudder . I just think of all the dust and how it would be impossible to keep clean.
Hurray! I’ve never had open shelves & never will. 💜
Love your channel and just love the way you are so down to earth and for real😊 on here. I could honestly sit down and talk to you all day, wished we were neighbors 😊just have lots of in common. Thanks so much for being you and just for all the time you put on here and prayers for you and yours🙏❤️
I love the look of open shelves in someone else’s home. But they are the most impractical things ever! I would NEVER have them in my house-I need all the cabinet space I can get and even though I keep my cabinets quite neat, I am happy to be able to close the doors and hide what isn’t neat! And maximalism??? What the heck? I continue to minimalize and declutter. By the time I get ready to move in a few years to a retirement community, the move will be SO much easier. All that stuff makes me anxious! And the more stuff you have, the more you have to manage it. Not for me!
Love it when you condense all the trends down to a list for us. Thank you, that was very enjoyable.
I’ve always loved textiles of all kinds and am excited tapestries are making a comeback! However, those boucle chairs are creepy. I agree, they look dirty. Also, who wants to sit on a stuffed teddy bear? 😊
I agree 100 on the open shelving!!! It was a ridicupous non functional concept.
I love windows where upper cabinets would be, if I have open shelving is near stove and it's for spices, teas, and herbal I grow and process.
Most of us are not even fully aware of the extent to which our stuff is influencing our well-being. Having lots of filled surfaces and spaces can subconsciously stress you out. Decluttering your space is like decluttering your mind.
I love florals checks and stripes that has same coloring. My version of French country
Could not agree more with your honesty!! Thank you Leslie
I don't like open shelves either, never did. I like lots of storage space as I have a split level house and small kitchen.Don't think I would like arches every where also. Love the layout of your house and how you decorate ❤❤❤.
I LOVED the burgundy - merlot colors. I had it all over in my LR, DR, Kitchen in my house we built in 1995. My upholstered furniture was that. I still love that color, but now I prefer to decorate with pillows or throws on my graige furniture. Leslie, those open shelves in kitchens were just wrong when they started. That is just something else that needs to be constantly dusted. We all know that if you actually cook in your kitchen, the steams, the frying, are all going to put a film on stuff. Plus, like you said, you can't store as much stuff on open shelving. Thanks for your version of trends. I've watched several trend videos, but you added some things that were different. Have a good week.
Fun video, you made me laugh! I’m excited about some of the new trends, so this was super fun to watch! TFS! ❤
I like to keep my house neutral since I decorate with my handmade quilts and pillows and other decor for seasons/holidays ☺️
In the early 80's in our first home we had hessian wallpaper. I also has a purple bouclè coat. (Probably similar to a merlot colour). I would love a bouclè chair that colour. ☺️☺️
I'm with you with the open shelves don't like that look. No dark walls either or that real cluttered style.
I love cane detailing. My mother had many chairs that the seats had been caned by hand. Alas, it’s a lost art. One of her chairs, the seat was caned by a blind man!!
Hi, Leslie! I follow you but never comment. However, as always, I appreciate your honesty and realize it can be risky. Rarely I agree with decorators, but I agree with you on so many items! I usually can't go along with maximalism Maybe in a cottage with lots of history it would work. I'm with Rebecca Robeson on this one issue: "every wall doesn't need something on it! " Thanks again, for your honesty.
Love this video, especially when you weigh in with your personal opinion. Always so sunny!! Thanks Leslie!!
Thanks for another great video. I live in the deep south, Louisiana. We love our molding, like the homes in New Orleans and the Plantation homes and you want that molding to stand out so most people leave it white or an off white. We do paint our ceilings usually a lighter version of the wall color and our walls have the orange peel texture. I would never paint my room all the same color including the moldings and trim and I am glad the open shelving is out the door.
I painted my living room walls raven black. I live in a 60 ranch. We have so much light coming in a light-colored wall was like headlights straight to the eyes. Yes, like all colors it changes from a blue black to a dark dark grey black. We love it. It is a satin matte. Yes, it does show imperfections. My home was built in the 60's so we have imperfections. Take a chance, I did and love it. Thanks for your run down of the trends.
I never understood the open shelving trend. Really not surprised its on the way out. Great video!
I don't like open shelving either. I'm all about bringing nature indoors. I have a lot of houseplants and a sunroom. In dark areas of your home, you can add halo lights for a beautiful uplight effect. Brightens up a dreary winter. I love arches! Maximal decor makes me claustrophobic.
I agree about the open shelves. I never understood it. I need all the storage space I can get and no one needs to see my stuff
I'm so glad the open shelves in Kitchens is going. That's just a cost cutting move IMO. It would be constant work to keep the shelves looking nice and keep them from dust and what not.
I'm not much into nature decor. I am a fan of having some shelves in the kitchen for display, as well as closed cabinets and glass cabinets. My dream is to have a separate pantry JUST for my countertop appliances, and a butler's pantry for all of my fine china and serving pieces. Plus a big walk in food pantry. The house I grew up in had three pantries, a maid's pantry, a cook's pantry and a butler's pantry. At least that's what my mother called them. I think YOUR range hood is spectacular! My sister says "more is more" she loves maximalism. Arches are one my favorite elements of a home, particularly wide cased archways. I like colored walls and creamy trim. I lived in a house in Massachusetts that was built in 1860, and that one had colored trim and white walls - It was a very New England thing to do. My mom had a beautiful old Spanish home in 1999, and she decorated it very "old world" with lots of gilded mirrors, fringed furniture, and tapestries. It was very nice. We love decorating in my family. My fave style is French - has been for a vary long time, maybe 30-ish years. French county, Parisian, French cottage, French farmhouse, you name it. Of course merlot is back, because I just got rid of all of my deep reds in my house...
I am not a minimalist but too much “stuff” is not relaxing. I had dark Merlo in my house as well. Now all is light and airy. I feel it is much more relaxing and less depressing in the winter.
I also hate open shelves. That is one thing I won’t do.
Loving the idea of a navy blue living room with brass accents.
Another thing going away (as it should) is cool grays. Or all grays. You know like 50 shades of an elephant.😮
I don't think I would paint a room totally all the same color. Open shelves I'm to messy. Love the video. You are so honest.
Maximalism is crazy. I agree, it causes me stress.
Open shelving is for minimalists, so you either declutter or make sure you have an abundant number of lower cabinets to store things.
Great video, Leslie. It seems I’m at a place of wanting my home to be welcoming, cozy with a touch of casual elegance. Something like classy hygge.🥰
Great! My farmhouse is out lol I’m okay with that because It makes me happy.😃 But We do have an arched wall above our stairs leading to our basement. Its a brick wall behind it and Its my favorite .
You are my sister in all those opinions!! Some of that feels like a fusion of 50's and 70's which are now vintage (I AM NOT VINTAGE... I tell my Gen Z kids lol) Like those furry chairs, don't you feel like they are Jetsons space-inspired 1950's meets shag carpet vibes of the 70's?
I 100% agree with you about open shelving! I never understood that trend.
The "modern" chairs, as you called them, make me think of retro, like the 60s. I just can't. I also will not bring back cane. I could get on board with color drenching, but I think I would do it with a small bathroom.
Hi Leslie!Thank youfor reviewing decor trends with us! I too was never a fan of open shelves instead of extra cabinets!! You look beautiful, your hair, makeup!!!!!!Have a good week hon.😁🎉❤🙏❤
You are too cute! Thank you for sharing such great info and making it fun😊
I’m so heavy or I WAS so heavy into the farmhouse look….I still like some farmhouse decor…but I’m really going back to vintage…and mix it with my antique from yard sales…and my childhood. Painted wood work….nooooooo TY. The deep merlot or wine color…yes definitely…but in small doses.
I've seen a lot of thrifting for brass and polishing it up. I love it and it's worth the work.
You make me laugh! 😅I really enjoyed this tonight.
I found this video interesting. No open shelves for me. No all one color room. I'm a person that needs light. I live i a mid size condo so I feel my color scheme kind of has to flow in different shades of one color. Right or wrong it suits me😊. Tell Jason hello.
I am a plant killer, although I do fine with my pots outside.
I loved decorating with tapestries when I had high ceilings! Great video as usual Leslie ♥️
Maximalism, what? Omg, that can’t be a trend. It’s just organized hoarders. Lol. As for some of the others, some I like and some are just odd. I think I could get into the pretty tapistry trend.
What a fun and entertaining video 😆. I don’t follow trends, just do what I ❤️.
Enjoyed agree on the open shelving.
I agree about open shelving!!
I’m definitely with you on the open shelving.
I loved this video!
Leslie, I so enjoyed you bringing us up to date with the new trends for 2024. I decorate with what I love and my home is not per say stylish but comfortable and looks nice, I get compliments on my decorating style so I'll take that any day!!!. I like to refurbish items to look new that fit in my decor. I never liked the open shelving, it didn't seem functional. Happy New Year to you and Jason and I hope this is a good year for you both. Hugs!
I ENJOYED YOUR THOUGHTS AND IDEAS. THANK YOU
Thanks sweet gal 🙏🥰
That’s why I don’t follow trends. I do what I love.
Thanks for a fun video, Leslie!
Thank you for sharing the trends! Our home has closed cabinetry, arches & I’m somewhat of a maximalist! Lol! God bless!
I love your honesty
Never liked open shelves in the kitchen. You can never have enough storage space in a kitchen. Personally, I like light wall colors and white trim with pops of accent colors in rugs, pillows, blankets, wall decor, etc. No to boucle furniture, looks like it wouldn't wear well. I dislike clutter but like to have more than a stark look. To each his own.
I really loved this video ❤
Pretty much everything you mentioned, I steer away from. I must be an old soul. I love antiques and sticking to whites. I seem to keep my same theme through the years and that is country lol I live in the country and keep it the same in my home. It is just comfortable. I have went into family and friends homes and they have some very pretty homes decorated in some of the things you mentioned. I guess like you said if your happy with it stick with that. God bless yall
Thanks for the up date. Nice to see what is trending.❤
Thank you for showing us all the new trends. While I do like some of the new ideas, I am basically an updated traditional girl. My name is Bonnie Willoughby and I am fairly new on watching Utube. I do enjoy watching your videos. You have a very pleasant voice and a nice personality. I also think you have such a nice home. I hope you have a wonderful new year and look forward to seeing more of your videos.
Rock On! 😁
Loved this video Leslie Thanks!👏👏👏🙏
No no open shelves for me. Plastered hoods would catch all the grease and smoke from cooking. Too hard to clean. Finally my arches are in style. I have two arched mirrors and arched headboards in my bedrooms. I also have a large arched window in my living room. Lone Fox just hung a huge tapestry in his living room
Great vid. And your so funny 🤘🏻
Hi Leslie! You were so funny and cute today. I agree with all of your opinions on these trends. I just purchased several marble items for 50% off at At Home. I absolutely love Marble. This was a fun video. I am not going to change my decor. I like clean lines, crisp whites, etc. I’m trying to buy eloquent and classy. Thanks Leslie!
Great video! Thanks for the information ❤
Maximalism 😱 I undecorated my MIL’s home to sell it when she went into assisted care. Every wall had pictures and little shelves with porcelain dolls and plates and photos. Even over her door frames were decorated with memorabilia. She had stuffed animals and silk plants around her big tub. She had decor on every inch of every surface! She had a sun room that was a playroom for great grandchildren decorated with hundreds of Winnie the Pooh items! There was more than double the amount of furniture that should have been in each space. I took several people through the house and didn’t have anyone interested. Then after I undecorated and spiffed things up a bit, the first couple to come through put in a full price offer! I can’t go back to that style!
What a really fun & informative video. I decorate with what I love. I have never grown tired of deep colors like burgandy & forest green. I keep my background walls/floors natural, my base furniture pieces in my fav deep colors, and change up accent colors and pieces per season for example adding light greens and yellows in spring and summer. It works for me, but adding in a trend here and there is fun, too!
I'm with you on the maximalist. It is stressful. I overdidi a couple of vignettes for fall decor. I would wake up in the mornings stressed. I finally pared down the worst and relaxed a little bit.
A great video! I so appreciate your practical insight. 😊
Another big trend is decor pieces made of glass. Clear glass or color…glass on a book shelf, table or end table can make a room look higher end.
Love today's episode, and love your style. I agree with open shelves going away. Yay..❤❤❤
Love this Leslie . I love the branch idea you can even wrap it with led mini lights I love anything lit up lol ty for all you do pstttttt hi Jason 🌻🌻🌻
