OMG, in like 2005 when i was 6 my Nan started to always watch this she never missed a episode and when I used to go to her house after school we used to always have to watch it at 5 i used to hate it, but its not that bad! My nan is 88 next year, and each day i love her and treasure her. This show along with Murder She Wrote and Diagnosis Murder WILL BE OUT SHOWS LOVE YOU GRAN"!!!

That’s because the show was made on the basis of a family that foster moving into a town to get away from the pressures of city living. The show focused on the foster system and the lives of the main town folk they interact with. Now it’s all “hot boys” and “sex, drugs and drama”. Gone are the days of the foster system and simple stories that have twists.

@@PokewoodTheater 😀👍....so true what you say BUT I never liked 1980s H&A because it was sooo boring. It became good for me from 1996 but the 2020s era is actually by far the best (apart from the music which doesn't match this level of quality.) I hope they bring back Angel, Chloe and Don Fisher (if he is still well enough to act.)

​@Honest Reviewer For me 1988 - 1996 was Home and Away at its best with the Fletcher/Ross era, couples such as Bobby & Frank, Shane & Angel, comedy characters Lance & Martin, Celia, Marilyn. Irene's early days, Alisa & Alf in the old diner. 1996 - 2000, it was pretty good although Pippa leaving the bay didnt feel right. I guess producers couldn't recast the character of Pippa for a third time after the departure of Vanessa Dowling in 1990 and Debra Lawrence in 1998. 2000 - 2003 started to decline in my opinion, the annoying characters took over Nick, Seb, those 'twins', Brodie, Dani, her parents aka the new Pippa & Tom - the list goes on. After 2003, I just watch the occasional episodes as I got sick of the daft storylines and some of the pretentious characters. Today's H&A is more of a crime series, its nothing at all like it was intended to be which was a character driven drama with some issue led storylines. All soap operas have been destroyed over the past 15 to 20 years from sensational storylines and unrealistic characters.

They were always there for each other though. Like Irene housed numerous foster kids. And Alf helped out in a crisis of one sort or another. And people were nice you know in spite of everything..

Agree that this era was really good and that did go a bit downhill in the late 2000s ...so stopped watching until recently. Honestly, the latest 2020s era is THE BEST and they ve really raised the game (apart from the music which is a let down and no where near as good as this.) Give it go...highly recommended!

It was one of the nicer soap operas if you were from Ireland or the Uk because it was a little piece of sunshine and it took you away for a while from real life and our Anglo Saxon melancholy weather and the storylines could be engaging and people seemed to care about each other in the show for a while…

This song surround me and brings me back my childhood

This is my favorite H&A theme version by a long way and reminds me of how great this era for the show was (a long time ago now) but the 2020's show era is THE BEST even if that theme doesn't match this quality. Perhaps bring back the Robertson brothers??

Noah was a character who was around in the early 00s. He was married (I think) to Hayley, but was killed by Sarah Lewis when she held a bunch of residents hostage.

Fun fact this full version was never used in the show. Listen to the 2000 and 2004 theme. They use the recap theme and add the lyrics. This was recorded separatly.

The girl with Fisher is Gypsy, the 2 guys between Irene and Hayley are Will and Mitch, the 2 next to Noah are Shauna and Jude. Hope that helped.

i live in australia and it's not what home and away and neighbours make it out to be, it also depends on what part your from.

Well. They stripped that and I've never felt less emotion. But it's got a 90s beat and you can dance to it.

Ok can I just say I left Australia unfortunately back in 1997 and the last theme tune I heard was the 1995 version. These new ones are actually shocking! What is up with that disastrous fake percussion! Those “drums” are insane 😅 Why oh why did you change it from the 1990s classic!

on the original full Karen Boddington & Mark Williiams version, including the opening titles version between 1988-1993ish, the line 'Home and Away, with you each day' was sung, my question is why has the Robertson Brothers removed that line from their version?
