Growing up in Kenya,this was one of the most popular foreign family TV shows. It gave us a glimpse of Australian life in general. Loved it!

Ahhhhhhh!!! MEMORIES! MEMORIES! MEMORIES!! I know this song word for word. I would rush home from school and wait with bated breath just to sing along with the theme song. This era is the best era to have lived in......I thought life world always be like this.... world of love, romance, suspense, heartbreak, joy, sadness and then comes happiness. Sigh!!! I love it❤😊❤

I was born the same year this show started and started watching it after school when I was 15-19. Good memories! Australia clearly made the best soap opera!

I always picture myself on holiday at one of the holiday parks across the south of England whenever I listen to this song, it has such a great holiday feel to it in my opinion....

I love male and female duets... this is one of the best.

All of my children will tell you that this song was their lullaby as babies. For some reason in the middle of the night it was the only song that I could remember all of the words too and it always gave them comfort when I sang it and they always went to sleep. Now my kids are 17, 15, 13 & 11 years old and obviously they watch "Home & Away" with me but still think in their heads that it's their lullaby as the lyrics are relevant to them. #TrueStory

Sadly they didn't. Newer versions of this theme song replaced the previous versions over the years and a number of verses were gradually cut back over the years due to time restrictions on Seven Network.

I always preferred Neighbours when growing up but this has the best theme song 💛

Insanely good for an Aussie soap theme. I really liked H&A back in the 90s but the theme today definitely has that 80s/90s ballad duet feel about it. Thanks for uploading this.

I remember this when I used to come home from school in the late 80s

As a foreigner from the USA visiting Australia for the first time in 2008, I became addicted to this series. Have been a steady viewer for the past seven years and love my weekly visits with the characters of Summer Bay and the beautiful scenery.

Don't know how you make that out seeing that Home and Away didn't start in the UK until 1989

I’m so glad we had neighbours and home and away growing up. Something light hearted (sometimes heavy) and just something consistent for my brother and I to watch after school ❤ wish there was still something like this these days. Now it’s all KZread and Netflix - which I’m sure will also get old one day too x

I was never the biggest fan of Home And Away growing up, but since I'm currently recovering from COVID, the theme song has randomly popped in and out of my head at various points. I've given the song a few listens and I have to say, divorced from the fact that it's the theme for a soapie, this first rendition in particular is surprisingly beautiful.

Used to be a good show in the 80s and 90s - enjoyable for all the family. Now it is aimed at teens mainly. Bit of a shame. Previously, we watched it as kids, my parents watched it and my grandparents watched it.

I love the whole song, and loved watching Home and Away growing up, but I especially like the bit towards the end from 3:21 onwards, which was often used during the programme. So many happy memories.

I remember after starting school, my Aunt who just finished school introduced this show while my Grandparents were looking after me while Mum was working and Dad was in the Army. I was too young to follow it but seeing through older eyes it shows how complex the story was.

Do you know the backstory of Home and Away right where they filmed it they didn’t want to have a foster home and that really is touching because I used to be a foster child and it’s really sad 😢 After the Seven Network cancelled their soap opera Neighbours on 12 July 1985 due to low ratings, rival Network 10 picked it up and turned it into a success.[1] A couple of years later, Seven's head of drama, Alan Bateman, became desperate to get back into the soap market and began to work out how to launch another soap that was not a copy of Neighbours.[2] While on a trip to Kangaroo Point, New South Wales with his family, Bateman began talking to locals who were "up in arms" over the construction of a foster home for children from the city.

I used to watch this all the time, back in the late 80s I was in love with Nicole Dickson, who played Bobby.
