    8:35... yea, Im thinking he’s not a fan of heights. That one trail about a month ago they took the corvair on, he had Rudy drive the whole time was which was cliffy too.

    Came here to comment nearly the same thing. I can't remember I've ever even seen Matt flinch at some pretty sketchy rescues. This one must have been a pucker factor over 9000.

    Hence the reason that no one wanted to back the vehicles down the slope..lol FREAKIN SCARY!! I would have to say that, that is not a place someone would want to just go drive around at everyday..lol, as I bet most people do not go back there again!

    Capturing how steep a hill is on camera is near impossible. And yet, this looked STEEP, even on camera! I can only imagine how steep it was in person.

    Looking at the way they were walking and the car close to the top seemed almost 45 degrees which is crazy. Looking at the video made me nervous for them.

    Yeah, the pucker-factor on this one was at least a 7 out of 10 for Matt... 17 out of 10 for the average human.

    Outstanding recovery! I could see Matt's look of concern coming up that steep hill. That Morvair showed just how capable it is. An awesome build for sure!! Y'all work together like a well oiled machine 💯🇺🇸. I'm envious of the entire crew to have such an amazing job..

    The Jeep being rescued really can't cope with this terrain... which is why it got into trouble in the first place..... and Rudy is driving it.....and is attached by a long rope... Matt's not a really happy chappie in the Morrvair.... concerned about the steepness and the high gear ratio in the transfer case... plus the space for both vehicles to turn around at the top..... Perfectly rational emotions.........

    was up there last Feb. I saw that hill and I was like nope. I don't have front lockers, only rear lockers, and I'm not sure my truck has enough HP to make it up that. Cause if you don't make it, you are backing your way down. Turning around on that steep hill wasn't really an option.

    Lindsey's remarks are priceless! Aside from that I hope they charge these guys big dollars to rescue them. Just because you own / rent a 4-wheel drive doesn't mean you can go anywhere. The little brain in the back of your head says this might not be a good idea you might want to listen to it! If it's scared Matt that gives me an idea that those other guys didn't have a clue.

    I almost rolled my Jeep on something like this when I failed and tried backing down. Anyone with half a brain knows situations like this are scary as hell. Glad to see you guys being safe.

    I think this time Matt was wishing he had a heavy lift Helicopter for this recovery. It took everything Matt and Rudy had in them to complete this recovery successfully, total professionals in the midst of pure terror they stayed focused and got the job done. Excellent job MORR team.

    This is the scariest video I've watched of yours! I've been in similar situations and it definitely gets you puckered, white knuckled, and your heart beating out of your chest. Crazy how capable that Corvair is.

    I never thought to actually descend a mountain with the transmission in reverse. With an automatic it can just slip in the torque converter I guess, but if that gets you down a hill in one piece then it's worth the wear and tear. Thanks for sharing the video!

    I came to say this same thing! seen him do hairy stuff, but never had a look of fear in his eyes. Possibly, in part, due to driving the less familiar MORRVAIR instead of the banana?

    If the inclinometer was maxed out past 35 degrees they were on a 70%+ grade. Most military off road vehicle specs max out at 60%. That’s bleepin steep.

    Thanks for letting me live vicariously through your channel. Wow thats what you call a cliffhanger. Insane how steep those hills were. And WOW the views. I've been to Bryce and Zion. Those views from where you were are magnificent. Every bit as breathtaking as any place in Utah.

    So the first section of that road is a 400ft rise in ~500 ft, which is ~38.7°. The point where he got stuck to the top is a ~500 ft rise over 400ft run, which is ~51.3° angle. Source, utah geological survey maps for elevation and scaling. Then run rise over run for grade, then inverse tangent for percentage. Easily could tell how sketch it was due to Matt's face.

    Wasn't it the other way around, for example: 400 rise, 500run: 80% --> Angle= arctan(80/100) = 38,7° ? Anyway, thanks for your research! :)

    Another note, years ago I was in Marine SAR and have seen the look on faces when folks figured they were going to die. The look on Matts face was pretty damn close, he justifiably concerned.

    Amazing recovery! The new rig is unbelievable. Love the views, but I think I will stay at the bottom and keep watching the videos. Did the mountain riding once with an experienced driver and it is too much for me! Kudos to all of you that do it and share it for us flatlanders!

    The look on Matt's face at about 8:28 when he shifted into D to pull up that Jeep.... Man! That is one steep precarious hill there. So happy they made it out safely.

    I've never been in a rubber tired machine on that steep of a grade, but I've pipelined across several different mountains east of the Mississippi River that were stepper. You boys work well together. Always remember be thy brothers keeper.

    I noticed that too! At 6:30 you can see the horizon sloping down a ton, in the direction that would make the hill look LESS steep, and the hill still looked steep!

    I got my 4 seat Can Am stuck sideways on a nasty sidehill outside of Vegas about 6 months ago and this reminds me of it. I sent a photo to my dad and he was super confident we'd get it out easy. His XJ couldn't even make it up traction was so bad and he quickly realized the photo didnt do it justice. Took 3 UTVs with winches hooked up to each other to prevent being pulled down this huge wash. Been offroading all my life, but nature can humble you real quick. Great videos as always.

    You saw Rudy's concern before they even got up the hill when he said," I've been up to the radio tower's, but never the top of the hill" at that moment he knew he was going to be driving the recovered vehicle.

    Oh my God - what an unbelievably, amazingly gorgeous scenery!!!!! The rescue was absolutely breathtaking - and my jaw dropped even further when admiring the land the Jeep for stuck in. Lucky people who can live there every day!! 😍

    The way they are struggling to WALK up the hill, it looks like they are trying to climb a ladder. They got hooked up to the Jeep and started pulling and the 'Vair started to slide forward. Great video!

    I’ve been up to the towers a dozen times and have always eyed that road thinking, “I wonder how steep that climb is?. Well you’ve satisfied my curiosity. I’m happy with just going to the towers. Lol. Glad y’all are safe. Crazy good job!

    I've not seen a Corvair since the seventies, other than on this channel, I was well aware of it's set up back then, but had no idea regarding it's incredible suitability for this kind of purpose. That's one well designed piece of equipment Matt built.

    Matt I have seen you do lots of recoveries that I had my doubts on and you accomplished them but this one I was afraid for you and I saw the concern on your face but you did it and did it well. Great job guys. That was loose rock and it was steep. 👍👍👍❤️
