Sarah is extremely perceptive. Yes, they are covered in fire proof gel. And, yes, Till is certified in pyrotechnics. And, yes, it gets REALLY hot at a Rammstein concert. And, yes, they have to tone down the pyrotechnics in the US. At the concert I attended Flake (treadmill guy) was sent out crowdsurfing paddling a rubber boat. They are unique.

The sheer fact that Rammstein, a german band that almost exclusively performs their songs in german, gets to fill stadiums full of people singing their songs for them in France, the UK, the USA, etc is just so mind-boggling. Less than a century ago there was so much bad blood between those nations and look where we are now. Sure we have little jokes at the expenses of other nations but it's in good humor and while the internet has a few places that are really bad as a whole it just brought us more and more together as humans.

The lyrics actually are very clever (maybe not as clever as other Rammstein songs, but still) , it's just that most intricacies get lost in translation. Till (who writes pretty much all of the lyrics) is a brilliant lyricist, a true poet even. His lyrics are characterized by interwoven layers of metaphors, plays on words, double meanings and references to literature, culture and history, all while using a writing style that appears simplicistic on the surface (just like Rammstein's music in general: their standard musical structure is very simple, sometimes even repetitive, but underneath they touch on very deep subjects. To me, they are pure Opera) . Till's style is so unique that I would recognize his stuff anywhere^^

I've seen them 3 times (2 outdoors, 1 indoor), and they fire that at every concert. There are actually some wires that drags the flares above the Crowd and back again (I don't know the details more than that). The Fireproof gel, is what makes them look dirty because a mixure of the gel, sweat and residue gives them the dirty/bloody look. Till Lindemann (you pronounced it correct), used to be on a short list for the Olympics, but fell short., and as you can see he have kept himself in shape. I do believe Rammstein & Sabaton looks somewhat familiar, the way Joakim/Till roll's the R's. They banging on the knee (Till did it because at one point he dislocated his kneecap during a show and he "hammered it back, and have continued to do that. The reason Flake (keyboard guy), is on a treadmill is because he have so much energy he cannot stand still, and with their crazy amount of fireworks, he cannot run around randomly on the stage, so the solution is a treadmill.

They indeed have wires, I believe the gun just shoots some flairs and other pyros are fired shortly after giving it the effect of one bullet from the crowd's perspective. At the other end new pyros are shot back and yet another set of pyros fire when they 'arrive' back at the stage to make the big explosive effect... so it's fairly save

Rammstein has to be seen live, because they are a weapon there and the incredible crowd control is a trademark of them and no matter in which country they play, the audience sings in German like in Paris.🆒 The action with the fireworks did not even take place in a stadium but in a hall ( Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy ) and would be unthinkable in America due to their immense safety regulations. If they go on tour there, the fans miss out on a lot and will never get to see many effects ! By the way Til does this specific move, called "Til Hammer" cause he had dislocated his knee before a concert and repeatedly hit it in the backstage area to bring it back in. The other band members found this movement totally cool so that he he adopted it for the stage ! Apart from the fact that Til is a trained pyrotechnician, at Rammstein concerts a special stage worker is very close to the stage and is connected by a microphone to the person who controls the fire. He feels the temperature on his cheek and gives corresponding instructions whether you can still step it up a notch or the flames have to be reduced. Another pure madness with with the audience - kzread.info/dash/bejne/mHWVq6iOiM2aXZs.html At another concert Til greets his band members, who are carried back to the main stage in a rubber dinghy , with a "Welcome - Sign". A political statement for the refugees who have drowned by the thousands in the Mediterranean Sea. Please look at the live performance of "Ich will" - kzread.info/dash/bejne/g592stGAc7OrYJc.html - "Rock am Ring" is one of the biggest festival events in Germany. The Ring, which we say, is the legendary Formula 1 race track "Nürburgring"(The green hell), located in the middle of a central mountain of Germany, the "Volcano - Eifel". Rammstein was the Headliner and there are more than 85000 fans on the target line and I was right in the middle 😜 and not only the few thousand hardcore fans directly in front of the stage answer Til's questions, but actually the entire audience down to the last row and to have been there and to feel the concentrated energy of the audience was just indescribable ! At some point Ramstein discovered that you can make up with instant coffee. According to concentration, black to red spots appear, which looks like dirt or blood. Flake was hyper nervous all the time during an earlier tour. What did he forget ? That he was made up with lots of coffee in the evening during every concert - Maybe the reason why he needs a treadmill 😉 ? But without Flake Rammstein would never have been what they are. Again and again he is only moved into the nerd corner and underestimated enormously. What most people remember is only the treadmill he is running on while playing. Most of the Rammstein pieces are backed by a mostly inconspicuous but sometimes bombastically symphonic sound body combined with techno elements and so much more. It´s done so cleverly that it is hardly noticeable in the foreground. But if you take it out of the equation and mix it away at the mixer console, the rest sounds almost like any metal band. Together with the typical Rammstein monster guitar riffs the keyboards in the background fill up the entire sound, make things round, and not at least because of this Rammstein sound so unique ! Please check it out - kzread.info/dash/bejne/e557sLaqcbqbaKg.html - kzread.info/dash/bejne/nIasuZePqsjVYKQ.html (here you can see Til flying) Exactly this concert in Germany took place about 20 km from where I lived and you could still hear it over a hill in between and see the light show flickering in the distance. You could clearly experience the sound level at which Rammstein are traveling 💥🤯 This melodic sound together with the unbelieveble power that Rammstein brings over is also to be seen here - kzread.info/dash/bejne/h6Vok6imp5ipd6w.html Totally whacky. Richard Kruspe tells the story in an interview on the DVD "In Amerika" released in 2015. First the police arrested Paul Landers off the stage and then one by one, the sound became thinner and thinner as the other band members were arrestet and at some point he put his guitar down and turned himself to the cops. For Rammstein, who had come together in the former GDR, the left dictatorial eastern part of divided Germany, America was in their imagination the "land of unlimited possibilities" in which you can do pretty much anything. After a night in jail they know that it was a really stupid idea to perform anything like that in a big city in the "Bible Belt" - kzread.info/dash/bejne/ooaMzaaShLanmpc.html - 😱😉 In Germany, this kind of thing doesn't upset (almost) anyone anymore - we're a little more relaxed there. Rammstein pieces are pure energy and if one can keep his butt still while listening, you should see a doctor as soon as possible 🤣

"Keyboard guy" Flake Lorenz is the same age than the others. He often plays "the butt of the joke" in their live shows and videos, but he's an incredibly nice guy and talented musician who brings so much more to the music than is visible in the live shows.

Therefore you can buy after a show of Rammstein a T-Shirt written on it: I survived a Rammstein concert. Rammstein is the best live band on earth by fare. No band in the world can compete with Rammstein when it comes to showmanship and pyrotechnics. I'm nealry 60 and I saw them all. Stones, ACDC, Queen, Metallica, Kiss, Iron Maiden, Manson, Slipknot and so on. They are all poor prescholars compared to rammstein when it comes to showmanship and pyrotechnics. But also the lyrics are deep and Rammstein riffs are very famous. In many movies you can listen to Rammstein Soundtracks: Matrix, in different Resident Evil movies, Hellboy, Mortal Kombat, Lost Highway, Nymphomaniac, xXx - Triple X with Vin Diesel, So High, Lilja 4-ever , Possession and so on. A Rammstein concert ist a life time experience, you will never forget. Even Kiss members begged for ear plugs, during a indoor Rammstein concert backstage. The music and the explosions were way too loud for them

Now you have gained a LITTLE insight. And your wife is right again, probably more than she herself suspects. Flake stands out from the others and he is the comic relief character of the band. In addition, he is always the victim in the performances. The big guys on the little ones, so to speak. Watch "Mein Teil" (my part) live and "Ich tue dir weh" (I hurt you) live madison square garden. You two will notice what I mean by that. You will have a lot of fun and of course be amazed. 14:40 Don't worry, no child will put together such a big stage at home and then blow it up. 😁

In case of Rammstein, precise translations of the lyrics is hard work (and sometimes not possible in subtitles), because they are playing many times with double meanings of words or slightly modify common German expressions and symbolic language pictures to invert or change their meanings. That is even used in the very simple lyrics of "Du hast". The first three words are "Du hast mich" (you have me) which at that moment doesn't make any sense in German. But it sounds (intentionally) the same as "Du hasst mich" (you hate me). Later in the song, the first three words are extended to a full sentence: "Du hast mich gefragt und ich hab nichts gesagt." (You asked me and I did not answer.) And then, to show what he was asked, the chorus is a wedding vow: "Willst Du bis der Tod euch scheidet treu ihr sein für alle Tage?" (Do you want to be faithful to her for all days until death do us part?) This is answered first by a kind of female voice "Ja" (yes) and afterwards by Till's harsh voice "Nein!" (No!). These - plus a slightly obscene word play on the wedding vow, that I will not explain here - are the whole lyrics (repeated a few times).

They're coming over to the US, Can and Mex later this year. The show is bigger, the stage is massive the music is louder and the show has more fire than ever before. I've seen them twice last month. And it's beyond amazing! Try to get tickets for the Feuerzone (Gold Circle) and wear earplugs. It's louder than anything I've ever been to, including their previous concerts. Both concerts I attended were in open fields with 50,000+ people during every event. Sept/Oct is a good time to see them; the sunset is earlier so you'll enjoy the effects more. Oh, the Feuerzone gets hot, very hot from time to time! fwiw: there's not a single vid on YT that properly captures Till's voice. It's as if the phone's electronics cut in to prevent the damage to the microphone. They're better in real life.

Rammstein, to me, is like the musical embodiment of German expressionism. They have lots of horror imagery that they combine with techno and heavy metal. It's just very cool and unique. They also have a very wry sense of humor. I really enjoy the song "Amerika". It's so cheeky.

Since then, band has a specialized crew of pyrotechs designed and build stage props. They worked with Til on displaying the props safely. All members of Rammstein are covered in fire proof gel for their protection. Flake The Keyboardist participate stunts with Til like with the song called Mein Teil. Warning: this song can be offensive for Sarah. Mein Teil in German means "My Part or My **** I have to censored myself. Song is about cannibalism. Based on a famous criminal case occurred in Germany.
