So glad to meet you all! I've had three oil changes and I'm at about 8500 miles. Who knows what the car future holds but whatever happens, I'll know that I gave my engine it's best chance at a long, repair-free life. How can you regret an oil change?

The manufacturer used to suggest the first oil change prior to the 1k mile mark. The argument has been made that with higher quality synthetic oil, it isn't required. The initial wear and tear on your new vehicle is the hardest regardless of what oil you're using. I just got 24 4Runner, and I intend on doing the first oil change at about 500 miles and probably again 1k miles after that. TO each their own. If people don't believe that the break in time on an engine is a real thing, than so be it. Cheers.

It's very important on a new vehicle to change the oil between 500 and 1000 miles because of the new engine break in their will be a few metal fragments in that oil due to new engine wear.
