The first 15mins (the whole Marley part) is so perfect. Mappa actually extended just a few pages of the Manga into that whole sequence of despair. Even tho we knew it was coming, many people even on Eren’s side, actually seeing it is horrifying.

3:06 very important detail that is often not acknowledged ( because to be fair it's not explained): Ramzi and Eren don't speak the same language - they can't understand each other. That's why Ramzi asks Eren " Why are you crying" and not " What are you apologizing for?". In the original manga (in Japanese) this is also conveyed by using Katakana when Ramzi speaks with Eren (Katakana is the the writing system used in Japan for Foreign words). Why is that important? To me it just adds another layer to Eren's character. When Eren was speaking to Eldians through paths, as well as in other occasions, Eren said that he was doing this to save his people, which is true, but only with Ramzi, and only because they cant understand each other, he start monologuing, crying, expressing all its true feelings that bring with them a lot of guilt. Because the other reason why Eren is doing all that, is a childish reason " The reality of the world outside the walls was different from the world I dreamed of. Different from the world that was shown in Armin's book. When i learned humanity was alive outside the walls, I WAS DISAPPOINTED. I WANTED THIS. I WANTED TO WIPE EVERYTHING AWAY". Yes, as it's often pointed out by a lot of people, Eren is a monster. That doesn't make him a "bad character", to me he's no doubt one of the most incredibly written characters I've ever come through.

I think it's very important to note that Floch wasn't aiming for anyone, just the fuselage, and Jean and Hange did not treat him with malice or as an enemy in his final moments, but were there with him. There are no good guys or bad guys, there are just people doing what they think is the right thing to do. All three of them are extraordinary characters in a once in a lifetime story filled with extraordinary characters.

Attack on titan is the only anime where the opening songs consistently call to or reference/foreshadow future events. Two from this episode: Eren: The rumbling will not stop. I will keep moving forward (ore ga susumi tsuzukeru) Season 3 part 2 opening by Linked Horizon says at the end ”Susumi Tsuzukeru” but the visuals are the scouts moving forward until they find what’s in the basement. In hindsight, it’s quite tragic how the phrase has evolved, similarly to the phrase “give your hearts”, to something much more sinister. Another one is in season 4 part 1 opening. “children cling to their coins squeezing out their wisdom” I think that one is almost self explanatory, given the fate of the two brothers shown at the beginning of the episode. Absolute genius by all involved

Seeing as their direct impact is complete, I can futher espouse on an underappreciated parallel of Floch and Keith Shadis, two regular Joe's striving to matter in this world. We know from his backstory Shadis once sought greatness in love and his military career but gave up both and seemingly accept an unassuming station in life. While Floch claims to never have had such desire before, his experience being the last survivor of the Beast Titan's onslaught at the outskirts of Shiganshina instilled his sense of grand purpose within him. Notably he shifts his belief from Erwin to Eren as being the world's devil that exists to be Paradis's "savior". Continuing this thought into the closing moments of S4, we see the culmination of their journeys. Shadis is ultimately inspired to aid his former trainees and we witness him help our protagonists along in their journey, though not one character was aware of his presence nor will know of his sacrifice. As for Floch, he is gunned down, he fails in his attempt to thwart our protags, and we see Floch's body be trampled by his very dream unceremoniously and without any distinction from the carnage going on around him. But because Floch was the face of the government takeover, his efforts will forever be memorialized by the Jaegerists still around in Paradis.

The mind blowing thing is that in the lyrics of the song that played in Hange's scene, it says "We will fight until the hot wind takes our wings away". What a crazy foreshadowing!! Keep in mind that they didn't make it specifically for this episode. This song existed waaaay before. It was played in season 1 in the year 2013 !! And this episode was just released in 2023 No show can surpass Attack on Titan in the foreshadowing.

I can relate way to hard with Eren. Coming from a very small town in the middle of corn fields, I also had a certain expectation as I grew up. I was very disappointed with the reality I was "hidden" from. Just everything about the world, was dumber and stupider, yet more evil than I ever could imagine. I'm not religious not but I remember thinking that God was on to something with the whole flood bit. If I was 17 again and had these powers... yeah its not a good thing to give power to a kid with trauma lets just put it like that. I've changed, still am misanthropic but I'm not a nihilist. Given this story, and not the world at all where I think the chances for peace are way better... They will purge a race of people, the Eldians... many countries agree, and on the individual scale you can see that racism is abundant and not just for Eldians. We started this story with Eren, Mikasa and Armin. If they were my family, I would go to war, and I would push the button that deploys the bombs that destroys homes and roads and hospitals and anything else until the enemy gives up their agenda to wipe me and my family and my friends and country off the face of the earth. But again, the real world doesn't have such extreme ultimatums. So don't be a silly sally about me justifying mass genocide.

What's always bothered me about the Rumbling is how awful people think it is. Every time you see a reaction "This is horrible. How could Eren do this?" et cetera. I feel like we forget that the entirety of the first season was literally this but on the other side. Somehow, it's worse here because Eren is terrorizing the whole world, but in the beginning of the series, the world within the walls was the only world we knew. So what makes THIS any different from what was happening in the beginning?

The unique thing that I think they should have changed is the afterlife scene of Hange to after credits scene. They went from a sad to a wholesome scene and then a grief scene. If they had put after credits, we would feel more the tension and grief of the characters, seeing her happy afterlife breaks totally the feeling of loss of the amazing scene that we just saw.

I personally didn't see her death as sad or painful; it felt celebratory. Hanje, since she became the Commander, has been struggling with these questions: 'Was Erwin wrong in making me commander?' And most I.importantly 'Would my dead comrades be proud of me if they say my actions?'. But now at the end of her life, we see Hanji dying believing that what she is doing is right, which is that just because it seem hopeless today doesn't mean that one day things might change. Also, I personally think that their is no afterlife in AOT and what we say with Hanji in that last scene is what was going through her head in her last moments, which is that yes, they would have been proud of her. At least that's what she believes.

I hate that the show became such a typical anime and gave hanji a good ending when we lost more useful and important characters without this cringe after life scene which gave this show its place as a special and epic show. These two movies with all the Alliance is sooooo forced. Like how is everyone saying byeeee Annie😍😍😘😘😘 while she literally played yoyo and killed so many and froze her self rather than sharing info with them.
