She's like the most favourite actress and probably the only one who has no scandal or controversial stuff associated with her　(at least compared to the ones in her generation). Also, she and her husband both likes manga and anime lol. She even starred in Ranma live action as Tendo Akane and voiced Yoshino from Digimon Savers.

Also, especially for women in Japan, the main role held in highest regard is still to "be a wife," so they are generally expected to do less after marriage.

Holy fuck, I didn't expect to hear about Horikita Maki at all from here. I used to watch some of the dramas she acted in back in like.. 2006/7 and she was the only one I ever had a crush on when it comes to actor/actress crushes. @@doburu4835 well not really "just japanese". Even in the US, some people from Twitter got angry coz Adam Driver, the guy that played Kylo Ren, is not in a relationship with Rey/Daisy Ridley. Some people hated Adam Driver's wife I even heard news of people sending death threats or somethin. Same case with Keanu Reeves, when just a year ago, it was reported that he's in a relationship with somebody. Loads of people didn't like her. My point is this isn't just a Japanese thing, even in South Korea they have that.

It's not "famous people getting married," it's "women getting married." It's less of a big deal when it's a man, unless perhaps they're part of a male idol group (though I've never personally heard of any big deal of that, though it possible). It's because women aren't expected to do anything much after marriage, and women in general are expected to mostly be "good wives" and many girls accept that even with pride saying they aspire to be "good wives" rather than any career. Things may be slowly changing, but Japan is slower to change than other places.

If some celebrity gets married, I couldn't care less. They are merely strangers who are well known for their works. But when some streamer or content creator gets married, or gotten a partner or something else, I would be a little sad. It feels like your friend getting married. You know there won't be hanging out with them any more. Unless their partner also joins in and then suddenly you a new friend (Pew, MxR, etc...). In other cases, they just switch to something else (Frank). When recently, Norio/Tamaki got married, I found that I was pretty cool with, uh, they found someone they love. Because Tamaki isn't exactly a streamer, more like a host, so I don't even feel like I'm losing a friend. If Pekora or Senchou quits streaming, then that would not be a fun day, but I'll still be happy for them.

For Japan, it's less about a celebrity getting married than it is about a woman getting married. Even ordinary office ladies are mostly there to eventually marry some guy from the company and then retire. So for any woman to work is considered a temporary thing until she gets married, and because it is the end destination, they are generally expected to stop doing anything much after that. Of course, things may be slowly changing, like with Norio continuing to work as head of NoriPro, but Japan is generally slow to change in ordinary times.
