The convolutions are interesting . This is like a form of synth /seq/looper that just needs a couple of analogue oscillators to be an instrument of its own . Great Demo !!!

The real sauce is sending midi cc's to control different knobs, and some under the hood parameters. I love using Max For Live’s lfo tool. This pedal rewards constant knob tweaking.

At first I thought this was simply an upgraded Infinite Jets, but now I see that the only sound they really have in common is the glitch. I love the swell and blur on the Infinite Jets. This is bad news for my wallet as I now need Microcosm...

This looks interesting and I might give it a shot but after having owned the two previous hologram pedals I was disappointed in their sound quality and sold them

i think i like the infinite jets more still, but this is great.

@@samgord4669 Good question. I ended up selling the ZOIA and got a Microcosm ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. For me the ZOIA was too fiddly and didn't have enough CPU.

Sasha's Late Night Tales from 2016 is a decent listen if you haven't checked it out, it has a lot of ambient sketches like this.

@@GuitarGod666 The workflow isn't too bad once you get used to it. Plus the SD card lets you saves tons of patches so once you have a few ready to go it's quick. But remembering what each component does can be a little tricky, so it's good to keep some notes. I honestly haven't had too much time to put into it, but it's definitely a nice piece in my studio.

Think of this as the thing you use between a song or when you get stuck for ideas or want to immerse and bliss out for awhile and have it take you somewhere.. mine arrived yesterday and I just have had time to blaze through the presets (and honestly approaching each with the very question you lose). It sounds like it's from the future. You need at least one pedal that does that. For the real estate, there's an ocean of interesting possibilities, a looper and glorious reverb (that I cannot figure out how to use on its own yet). These blippity bloopity demos don't send me, either. But they do give me some idea of sonic character.

I hear glitches from times to times. Do is the pedal or just input clipping?

I read some negative comments on the sound quality on hologram pedals. How was your experience?

connect midi, set your DAW to send clock to it.

I am having trouble with this combonation. For some reason I cannot get the MF to send midi out to microcosm. Ive connected my bsp midi out to microcosm and it worked just fine but for some reason it won't work with microfreak. If someone could throw me a bone here I would appreciate it much as this is driving me up a wall haha.

Sounds awesome for post-rock type soundscapes. How well does it handle overdrive? I’m still not finding anything that dethrones the H9 max as best all-around pedal for cold shimmering glitched on through to beautiful experimental noise.

Wondering if you can get the same effects from the poly beebo/digit?

If I ran a small keyboard into the microcosm could I quickly loop an ambient drone to sing on top of? Does the microcosm have a looping feature ?

@@EarlyMist Its basically preference, but they are both granular, pitch shifting, reverb, echo, and delay effects. If you have the money and want something unique get the cosm. It has a few more features but you could get creative and throw some more effects on your chain if need be with the cystalizer. You definitely can get the same outcome with enough tweaking with something like soundtoys crystalizer. It was the first thing that came to my mind hearing it. Also its part of the effect rack for soundtoys. Try it out and judge for yourself.
