Glad I watched this in my recommended.... David Cassidy was my childhood crush and have loved him ever since... went to see him locally in concert 10 years or so ago, wonderful!! I have watched a lot about him and his life, and this just confirmed the sadness of his childhood, which haunted him throughout his life... Sad that a father could not be supportive of and proud of, and happy for his son!! The anguish that caused David! Sad!! 😞

I think there is something about him that was off putting and affected his career trajectory. His acting style was more suited to stage than screen. His jealousy of Shirley and David was pathetic and resulted in some cruelty; no excuse for that. Horrible ending for anyone regardless. 🙁

Usualy people like this have had a bad childhood (still no excuse) and never learned to cope emotionally in so you end up with an emotionally immature person who doubled down by self medicating with alchohol. That on top of a personality disorder like narcississism would make him probably pretty hard to be around. Sad because Shirley seems like an amazing person who deserved better.

He did a Columbo episode which begins with him walking toward the camera, and in front of him is a barbeque grill with flames rising up. The image is that Jack Cassidy is walking through fire! Now, that's an old Hollywood trope. The 1932 Doctor Jekyll & Mister Hyde ends with Hyde viewed thru a fire. Still, from what this video said about him, I wonder if Cassidy requested the scene to be shot that way, and if his death was suicide, at least subconsciously.

Now I watched you , play a drunk on Columbo.. it was startlingly BRILLIANT! My favorite line, you do quote! “Ah there they are! The HOLY TRINITY! And the only thing missing is the heavenly glow, which I shall gladly make up for!” (Close enough!) Your method was perfect. I’m sorry to hear of your passing… 1 year after that devestating divorce!!!! All your sons.. taken ftom you.. and your wife! I get it… but the commentators in this world still smear hearts of GOLD!!! Booze, pills or tobacco, any one of these was going to lead to his death. The tobacco was quicker and probably easier on his family in the long run.

Correct. Murder By The Book (1971), Publish or Perish (1974), and Now You See Him (1976).

Omg, Joey Villa sounds just like Falk😂. Well, Shirley Jones was, and still is a doll. She did everything right. I think Jack was just a narcissistic fool, and quite immature. I, however, did love him on all of the Colombos. I do know that Jack used to throw his cigarettes on the floor of his house, LIT, and I think his death wasn’t because 14:45 of the psychic, but he was lured into believing the psychic. I feel bad for his kids, I’m sure they all suffered. I can’t believe.. he didn’t burn down the whole building. Wtf
