    What's impressive about Firefly is not the current quality (inferior, when compared to its competitors), but the speed at which it's improving. Consider that Firefly is less than one year old, and we're already at model 3. I'm sure the next model will come out before the end of the summer.

I've noticed so much, that I have to back off a bit, lol (I've only reported less than 1% because of the rules not being very clear, but it is what it is). I get a bit too invasive with my observations I guess; I don't mean to. This is where the future is going, I guess; might as well try to understand where it's going and what it will eventually be. There's a huge differnce between a film where everything is AI generated, and a film created where some apects AI was used to assist (for ex. helping with CGI). The latter isn't actually all that new, and I don't the former will be a thing until we have AGI at the very least. Anyone trying to do it without AGI is making a huge mistake, it's like trying to build a house using way too many contractors and some of the materials needed don't even exist yet.

    I think if the shorts that were released using Sora are anything to go on, it should be possible to create a watchable film using AI this year. It won't be great and it'll probably be as entertaining for the actual plot as the weirdness but the biggest hurdles I see are shot length and the script. Sora is supposed to be able to generate clips up to a minute in length which would be more than enough but a lot of the shots shown are a lot shorter than that and it seems it might struggle to get over 20 seconds. AI scripts are also usually pretty bad but Claude can write some acceptable stories occasionally. Unless someone builds an agentic movie-making workflow which we might see from something like LTX, the user will still have to do some prompting but all of the pieces are coming together to make something that is at least a decent curiosity. It's not like all human-made movies make good use of your time, people choose to watch schlock all the time. Films made with human contributions by creators that have any level of ability will be better for the immediate future but people watch things like AI Family Guy, sometimes it's just fun to see what it'll do.

  • @crawfordscott3d
    @crawfordscott3d16 күн бұрын

    The 3d video thing will break the entire pipeline. Productions don't even start until camera angles are roughed out in storyboards. A cinematographer figures out the camera move with the director ahead of time . There's no way those things are going to be saved for post. It's a neat technology but it's not going to change the pipeline

A small step of it is using something similar though. The example of the dad and girl here.. I'm not even sure where the AI part was used. It seems like it could just be an iteration of gaussian splatting with multiple cameras synced up? Dunno, first time seeing it but it's pretty cool.

    It did get a lot of hate, it's also likely the reason you're aware of a horror movie with a 2 million dollar budget that got a limited release. The most likely outcome for any film is it gets lost in obscurity and no one ever sees it And it's very hard to get anyone to pay attention so if you've got their attention, you're doing better than most.

I remember the news story from a year ago about a boy who used ChatGPT's responses for his homework by copying them by hand. This was likely with an earlier model, as newer versions have been improved to detect plagiarism. Over time, as more people interact with AI, it will continue to learn and minimize plagiarism and misinformation, ultimately improving its responses to a more human-like level.

    Plagiarism is a serious issue, though I think teachers would be better off finding ways of including AI and teaching students about how to use it as part of your process rather than taking everything it says as gospel and copying and pasting it without vetting the information. Ultimately, most schools conduct tests with a minimal amount of tech available to you because Google has already been able to give you most of those answers for the last 25 years so gaps in the student's competence are going to come out anyway but not discouraging the use of AI on some level could be setting them up to fail. Existing AI plagiarism detection is not reliable and has led to a lot of bad false positives but hopefully it improves with time. I ultimately think whether the student has taken the time to learn the material will come out if you make any effort to control for things like that but we still should take plagiarism seriously as a matter of academic honesty.

    @@cyroxasph Could you bring your parents into the classroom? Also, my parents don't know all of the stuff google knows. There's a reason they don't let you use your laptop during an algebra test generally, because they want you to memorize the quadratic formula rather than just plugging in A, B, or C. Whether memorizing the quadratic formula has any practical use is up for debate but I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. I don't think plagiarism will ultimately improve a student's grade in most cases unless they studied enough to do well on the tests and were just too lazy to write the reports but I think plagiarism is bad simply because it's unethical to pass off someone else's exact words as your own. Most academic papers will have some level of reference and that will impact how much direct quotation you're doing but properly crediting references also allows for fact-checking which is something people need to do more of when using AI tools.

    @@cyroxasph To have an opinion I think after I'll have experience with something like the Meredith character form the film "Wifelike", I will be able to give a well balanced opinion. When will that happen? who know. But, where are all the 4K global shutter cameras while a smartphone from early 2016 have one? By the way- kzread.info/dash/bejne/Z2V6psRynrbOm6Q.html

    Many in Hollywood / legacy media are upset with this.

    @@curiousrefuge No one care. It is simply taking the power from the studios to the average people. Like with the cellphone that turned any kid into a reporter and show the world what really happened and not what the main stream media wanted you to see, so the AI is doing it now. The only problematic issue is that camera evidence won't be sufficient anymore because people with knowledge how to use this can frame anyone, so we will need to get back to old time where we need human witnesses. Also, The government will exploit it against it's citizens. The prior comment of "wifelike" is gone... Who delete it, and why?

    @@curiousrefuge Hi curiousrefuge, it's your channel, and it looks my comments are gone from this comments chain I had with cyroxasph. Any reason for that? Can someone delete my comments on purpose? And if do, why?
