The photo they have here is not Buffalo Child, whose real name was Sylvester Clark Long and who was African American, not Native American.

The image used for Ed Flanders is William Daniels who is still alive as I meet Will last year.

The sad thing is the largest number of suicides is young men in their 20's! It must be drugs that is doing this to our young people! Sooo sad!!!

@EmtnlDmg99 Yes!!! Knowledge of God is basic, i.e. it is plumb obvious and people have direct knowledge of God through a Sense of the Divine. That is why there are no atheist societies in the history of the world. There are also the traditional arguments for God's existence. See William Lane Craig videos on the Cosmological argument for instance. Then we have science, free will, moral realism, the ability to recognize truth and even consciousness itself, all of which would be impossible if atheism and materialism were the case.

@@PaulSmith-qo4iz If atheism were the case, there would be no Logos or rationality in humans or any set natural law in nature. There would there would either just be random "noise" or patterns would spontaneously form and then collapse so that there would be no stable structure to reality for science to study and to mathematically model with consistency. But we do have science and scientific laws that we can verify. If the full-blown Darwinist paradigm were true, humans would have evolved simply to survive with no regard for the truth and especially higher truths such as we have in philosophy, the arts, mathematics, logic. See the Tedtalk by cognitive scientist Donald Hoffman on this point. As Descartes observed, why are we even thinking of infinity, eternity, perfection since these concepts are not found either in nature or in our own experience? Descartes' answer is that these concepts are innate, implanted by a Being who created us and also implanted an awareness of Divinity within us. Knowledge of God is basic knowledge and this basic knowledge must have originated from the Divine Source, otherwise we would not have even conceived of God or these divine attributes. You are correct that if there is no God, no Logos, then there is simply nihilism with no objective morality or justice. But then, following Descartes, how are we even aware of such objective moral standards that we do recognize and recognize and appeal to from early childhood? As Sharon Street points out correctly, if Darwinist materialism is true, then moral realism is false. But we implicitly or explicitly recognize moral realism to be the case as we all make moral judgements constantly and from a very early age. If materialism were true, then how are we even conscious? Materialism cannot account for consciousness at any level much less than the level that I refer to above. Consider here David Chalmers' "The Hard Problem" of consciousness for the materialist.

I loved Brad Davis in Midnight Express. I'd heard that he'd died but couldn't recall why. If you're familiar with Midnight Express, Davis is the lead character who experiences hell on Earth. I can't imagine a better actor for this role. It is evident that Davis had a long and successful career coming his way, and this happens. HIV strikes him, and apparently, according to his wife, he contracted it through a blood transfusion. Thanks for the life lessons then and the ones we have missed with you in them. RIP, Mr. Davis. Your fans miss you and think of you in Midnight Express all the time. Your legacy.

When people kill themselves they don't care about their family, friends and associates who are left behind. What about their children who really need their father's presence to be there for them. Very selfish indeed.

God abandoned them. They weren’t likely praying for acceptance. Likely trying to stop the crushing physical, mental or financial crisis they saw themselves stuck in.
