Holland Baroque - Einsamkeit Du Qual der Hertzen (live)

Музыка

Holland Baroque performs Einsamkeit Du Qual der Hertzen (Coupure), composed by Johann philipp Krieger (1649-1725).
Dorothee Mields - soprano, Marco Ambrosini - nyckelharpa, Tineke Steenbrink - haprsichord/ organ, Judith Steenbrink - violin, Filip Rekieć - violin, Lambert Colson - cornetto, Adam Woolf - trombone, Tomasz Pokrzywinski - cello, Michał Bąk - double bass, Christoph Sommer - theorbe, Emma Huijsser - harp, Matteo Rabolini - percussion.
Holland baroque loves to share the stage with free spirits in order to create a paradise for curious people.
The Italian Marco Ambrosini is such a curious person. He plays the ‘nyckelharpa’, a Swedish instrument with keys and strings which is mostly used in folk music. This versatile performer, with his feathery sound and picturesque improvisations, is the perfect musical dancing partner to the enchanting star soprano Dorothee Mields.

Exquisite performance, both from the ensemble and the wonderful soloist. That ground bass is so similar to the one Purcell used for the "Evening Hymn" and I'm sure Handel borrowed parts of it for some of his arias as it sounds so familiar! I guess it's a simple enough sequence and must have been used by many Baroque composers. But it's fascinating to hear Handel's debt to Krieger.
