Puran poli is not dipped in kataachi amti. It's eaten with gulavni or milk. Katachi amti is eaten with rice. Your neighbor has shown you an incorrect way of eating Puran poli

Maharashtrian aahat tar katacha rassa nahi katachi amti mhantaat. Rassa fakt mutton chicken fish kinvha andyachya rassyala mhantat.
