As a Niners fan I feel good going into this game but it's also just the sort of game that the Eagles can grind out to a win. Should be a great game between the two top teams in the division.

As a Niners fan I don’t feel good about this game at all. The 49ers are 1-2 in one score games this season, the Eagles are 7-1. Jalen Hurts has 10 TDs and 0 INTs while trailing this season, Brock Purdy has looked like a JV kid that got called up to varsity when the 49ers have been trailing this season. The 49ers can win but only if they get the lead and keep it, if it’s a close game or they’re trailing then I have no confidence that the make a wish kid at QB can bring them back, because in those situations Brock Purdy has played his worst football by far.

The Browns started PJ Walker at QB against the 49ers and they still won. So it’s hard to say they only lost because they were missing pieces when the teams that beat them were missing even bigger pieces. I also don’t care about other teams putting points up on the Eagles because they’re 10-1, so obviously that isn’t stopping them from winning. Clearly in 10 of their 11 games, they’ve put up more points than their opponents, I hope we can all agree on that at least.

This did not hold up well at all. How embarrassing is this going to be going into work on Monday.

Eagles’ secondary has only been fully healthy for two weeks, and two members of that secondary were midseason additions. It’s not as if Philly’s secondary has been the same 5 dudes all year who had the benefit of a full training camp. They’re also facing the elite of the elite in terms of QBs during their development period as a unit. It says a lot that they’ve generated turnovers when it matters and have done what it takes to close out games.

On the money man no one talks about all the injuries the eagles have went through all season being 10-1 in week 13 playing with literal udfas around the secondary but they talk about the niners being full healthy and dominante but with 2 injuries we saw what they looked like

People keep talking about the Eagles secondary based off box scores. If you actually watch them play, their defensive scheme is one of those Cover Two bend but don't break schemes with two deep safeties. They are content to give teams all the short and underneath and middle stuff to prevent the long gains.

Facts, it’s comfort food hearing everyone telling me why my team is going to lose, and not one saying why they’ll win.

If the 49ers beat the Eagles and the Cowboys the following Sunday beat the Eagles the 49ers take the number 1 seed. They both have scored 310 points total. The difference is the 49ers are +140 and the Eagles are +64. So this is why i think the 49ers with Brock Purdy are going to out score the Eagles 42 -14. And maybe the niners defense does to Jalen Hurts what the Eagles did the Brock Purdy last season in the Championship game.

The PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL PLAYERS who have been busting their collective asses since OTA's know full well what they're up against and what's at stake! Philly can lose and they'll still retain the no. 1 seed. The 49ers know that they need to run the table to have a chance at the no. 1 seed.

Agreed, but one thing a lot of analysts have failed to mention is the Eagles have found ways to win, but they've barely eeked out most of those wins against par to subpar teams that with their talent they should have blown out. Now, the past few weeks have been different, and from what I've seen, I can honestly say, the Bills, Cowboys and Chiefs seemed to have lost the game with their mistakes more so than the Eagles winning it. If one or two things didn't go wrong for those teams, we're having a very different conversation

As a Niner fan being -3 ok the road in Philadelphia in the rain is wild. Not saying I’m not confident we’ll win but to be favorites in this situation seems fishy.

This Eagles team reminds of the ‘22 Vikings team that was 9-0 in games by 3 points or less, and then lost immediately in the playoffs

I am sure, in a perfect world situation, like week 3, Shanahan would love Purdy to do a 4th quarter drive to win. Had that happened the losses may not have happened. It difficult going into a game like this hoping that if your opponent is leading your QB, who has not ever experienced and grown from a 4th quarter come from behind to win situation, can summon it up at this level of pressure. It will be a game to watch, for sure.

Actuall[y, in Shanahan's first year CJ Beathard threw the most passes for SF and the next year it was Nick Mullens. But since Purdy took over last year, the Niners are 16-4 - and one of those 16 wins was a game against the Raiders last year where the Niners trailed by 3 going into the 4th. (It also includes a playoff win that was tied after 3.) So with Purdy, the number is 1-3, not 1-31. And 1-3 maybe isn't so bad - especially when your average margin of victory in the wins is more than +17.5. They don't often find themselves down by 3 going into the 4th.

You're forgetting Dallas they're only two behind the Eagles in the lost column (same as Niners & Detroit). Niners will be down one even if they win along with Dallas. Yep if Eagles win out even if they lose tomorrow they still have home field throughout I do not see anyone beating them after tomorrow. This game matters a lot more to the Niners but look at the Bills last week. They needed that game bad against the Eagles but they still managed to squander it away even though they had the Eagles by 10 going into the 4th quarter. That's the problem with Allen he's a choking dog when its on the line. But that is NOT the case with Hurts.

Eagles being an underdog in this spot should be no surprise. The NFL is all about spots, and because of that anyone can lose any game. The Eagles beat KC then played BUF on 6 days rest, that game went to OT and the defensive starters played 80+ snaps, The 49ers and Cowboys next week will both have 10 days rest before they play. Couple in the problems the Eagles have had on their backend plus the slow starts on offense... you get why they're underdogs. As an Eagles fan, I will admit that things have gone their way a bunch and if they don't clean it up it will definitely cost them in the long run.

This game for the 9ers has to be win from the beginning to the end, it’ll be a real battle down there at the Lincoln. Let down for other games the 4th quarter comeback. With Philly you cannot joke.

Lol, the idea that Shanahan would want Purdy to have to come from behind in the 4th to get the win is just silly. Shanahan wants to get out to a comfortable lead and run the ball in the second half and get starters off the field. A grinder is what gets players injured. Also, Rich can't really complain that the Eagles aren't favored if he's not sure if he favors them also.

It's not that Purdy is not capable of a comeback in the fourth quarter, we saw that he is against the browns if it wasn't for the kicker missing. It's that Shanahan himself is not capable of coaching a comeback in the fourth quarter.

Purdy already had a great drive to win the game vs the Browns, an elite defense, in the rain. Kicker just didn't make the kick.

a lot of people are focusing on the tangibles. Rest, home field advantage, injuries - yeah, that's all great, on paper. Both teams are coming into this game PISSED. Eagles love proving others wrong. Niners are out for blood. This energy reminds me of the 9ers/Cowboys in the 90's...when SF was favored, Cowboys would trounce on them. When Cowboys were favored, SF made them pay, IN Dallas. The intangibles is what I'm talking about...what will win out? It's Pride vs. Pride...and who has the biggest heart. All I've gotta say is it's going to be a great game with the #1 seed implications on the line.

While those were great games - it's more so the Cowboys, Chiefs, and Bills made stupid mistakes at crucial points in the game that lost it for their teams, and Hurts took advantage - otherwise, it's statistically unheard of to win a game when you're out played, and out gained by the losing team. None of those teams played four quarters of football IMHO

Over the last two seasons, the 49ers opponents are 6-21 the week after. Philadelphia has Dallas on the road after the 49ers, and the Eagles barely escaped at home. Plus Cowboys home games are a whole different level of "home field advantage". Seattle had them beat until it started raining yellow flags!

Eagles fan here... We love being the underdog as American knows. Bottom line the 49ers offensive line is 21st in the league. In pass block. If we slow down the run. And get ahead by 10 or more. you're right in a sense, but in spite of their subpar line, their running offense have always found ways to run all over even teams with great run stop defenses. If the 49er D plays their usual style, I don't think it'd be a blow out if their offense fails unless the Birds get a couple of Pick 6's. But I agree, it's going to be a great game, and there is going to be some freak outs and TV smashing at the end of it...but remember, it's the intangibles in football that make it any given Sunday, which makes it fun to watch. Your pride in your team is admirable, and rightfully so - great season...I just feel this game will come down to who makes the first and last mistake

yup 21st in the league, which is why Purdy should be MVP. Every other QB being considered has a top 10 Oline. Hurts has top. See how bad Hurts was when he got pressure the first 3 quarters against the bills? Only reason he started playing well is because he had time or he ran it. He is a damn good runner, just not so great passer. This is why a lot of people argue for AJ Brown to be MVP of Eagles. He goes up and gets that ball so much regardless of accuracy. Can you imagine Purdy with the Eagles Offensive Line, HOLY CRAP.

Purdy is having a good season but he isn't even the best offense player on his own team. Jalen is our best player. And every qb needs a good oline to win consistently in the NFL. No matter who the QB is. Jalen will be the difference on Sunday.

if ? the Philly cheese defense is not the same as last year- 20th in the league in points allowed- 30th in the league in third downs allowed- 32and ( dead last ) in the league in covering tight ends- may have something to do with it- 500 plus yards to Bill in their own house in the rain

I think Niners get this one cause Philly is banged up and their OC is not consistent, so I understand the doubts, but eagles sure do love being underdogs. Hopefully they prove everyone wrong.

Think about this, Vegas wins 90% of the time, you would take those analytics any day and only pay out 10%. That's why fanduel, drafkings, etc. advertise more than Mcdonalds. That's why you see all those Hotels on the Vegas strip beautiful & luxurious. @@brohymn003

Yeah, itbis happening again. Because of the narrow margins, everyone wants Philly to break. I have heard some who don't like Philly, and say they will be 10-6. They want Philly to break. I really believe the defence on both teams will tell the tale. Both offenses are strong.

OR 20th in the league in points allowed- 30th in the league in third downs allowed- 32and ( dead last ) in the league in covering tight ends- may have something to do with it- 500 plus yards to Bill in their own house in the rain

Also did it a couple times last year and in playoffs. That narrative is lazy and more of a diss on Kyle than Purdy. Even when you look at it with Kyle though you have to realize how many of those games were during the rough years. Also funny whenever this stat is brought up its never compared against an average. That is because when looking at analytics the team losing going into the 4th quarter loses a very high percentage of the time. Just watch games with eyes.

The media has been pushing that the Eagles are underdogs. Realistically no one sees the Eagles as an underdogs. We're going to Philly to play a rough and tough game. No one my 49ers thinks that the Eagles are underdogs. We know they can beat us. They know we can beat them. We're going to play football. Bring it on.

It’s a betting line. But the Niners had a 10 day rest instead of a seven day rest, and they’re playing their very best football, while the Eagles are scuffling just a little. So if everything is even, the slight edge goes to the Niners. But who knows, it could go either way it’s gonna be a great game.

In my opinion, Its based off metrics… niners #1 offense #8 defense, eagles #4 offense #17 defense.. the metrics say the 9ers are the better team and the spread follows suit.

In terms of scoring points, both teams have scored 310 points in 11 games. The Eagles give up 22 ppg and the Niners give up 15ppg. So I would rate the offenses as even and the Niners defense as far superior. The Niners also come in with 10 days rest. If it rains I think that actually favors the Eagles, who have played in the rain the last two weeks in a row--and won. The Niners being welcomed by a cold Pennsylvania rain would be a welcome sight for Philly fans. But it's all about individual matchups so we will see how it plays out. The Niners are favored on merit. And they need this game to position themselves for the playoffs. The Eagles could afford to lose this game.

Niners opposing offenses rank 29th in the league. Only 3 teams have faced weaker offenses than the niners. I'm sure that helps their defensive stats. Eagles have faced the 6th toughest opposing offenses.

I think the opposing defenses that these teams have faced are 9th and 7th. Don't remember who had 9 and 7. Those were almost even though.

Browns still have a solid defense to this day. I know Cleveland can cause problems, but Purdy also didn't look very good in the rain. Supposed to rain on Sunday. We'll see if that means anything.

Seems like it's working out fine for the rest of the NFC.

Apparently the niners weren't favored by enough!

I mean the odds are based of what they think will win them money. The niners are coming off more rest and need the game more while the Eagles have been running a gauntlet of Phins, Chiefs, Bills in OT. This is about rest and health. But I absolutely hate giving them this fodder of being dogs. I hate it.

The line doesn’t pick the winner…the line reflects public sentiment. Public sentiment is a key indicator of how much money they can make if they adjust this spread one way or the other. Vegas isn’t saying they’re underdogs, they are saying that based on the sentiment of the betting public, they will have the highest probability of making the most money putting the spread where it is.

Wrong! The odds-makers in Vegas aren't stupid, and the line is not set after polling the public! The Sharp Money is what moves the line, not the public. The professional bettors are heavy on the 49ers!

Look up why the line is set where it's set. It doesn't work the way people seem to think it does. Also Vegas has millions upon millions on the line so it doesn't care about respect or pity points.

I'd say its a toss up and home field advantage puts the odds in Philly's favor.

So Oakland doesn't count as a 4th Q comeback for Purdy? And Purdy did all he could to put them in position in the browns game and the kicker missed. This argument he has never comeback is tiring.
