Hold It Together | Lyrics
She said are you OK
And I'm staring into space
It's making her nervous / ‘cause one thing is certain
I don’t have my head on straight
We're trying to get through each week
On two or three hours of sleep
I say to be patient / that we’re gonna make it
I have to admit that I’m struggling
They say take it slow but the
World keeps spinning / and that I don't control
And so there I go
Trying to act normal / so they won't know that
I’m just trying to hold my shit together / together darling
I’m just trying to hold my shit together / together darling
They say that they sympathize
I'm grateful they take the time
But bringing it up at this 6 year old’s birthday
It kinda fucks up my vibe
We end on an awkward note
I make the most awkward joke
Too dark to be funny / I shouldn't have come it’d be
Weird go to home and I'm struggling
They say take it slow but the
World keeps spinning / and that I don't control
And so there I go
Trying to act normal / so they won't know that
I’m just trying to hold my shit together / together darling
I’m just trying to hold my shit together / together darling
Oh I don’t know what else to try
Pretend I'm in control but I’m
Just trying to hold my shit together / together darling

This song has the most "Fort Minor" vibe out of any song on the entire album. This album is a fricken masterpiece. I hate that Mike gets slept on by most. Dude is more talented then 90% of artists making music today
@AlexandreTogeiro
6 жыл бұрын
Agreed! Except that he's probably more talented than 99% really - sings, raps, plays guitar, keyboard, produces, mixes. Where other artists need hitmakers to thrive, he just does his own thing, and that cannot be praised enough.
@omgpancakesyum
6 жыл бұрын
AlexandreTogeiro I hate how he is underrated and slept on. But that's how it is in hip-hop and any genre really. Real talent gets buried and the fakes (with ghostwriters and song/lyric buyers) get all the recognition and fame. There are SO many artists like Mike, who write, rap, sing, play all their own instruments and mix + master their own stuff and have so much talent but are stuck in the "underground" and it's a shame. When I play the artists I listen to, to my friends, and they love it and ask who it is, they always say they have never heard of anyone I listen too but that the music is amazing. It's such a shame and I hope one day that it changes.

I can totally relate to all of that, as a big fan of the band Rush. While crititcally acclaimed and being dubbed "the musician's favorite band" by some, they never truly hit mainstream. But the silver lining here is, who cares - at least with today's technology we can actually get to know the underground bands; imagine if they'd simply never saw any feedback to their craft. For the artists sake, obviously, I concur with you - it IS a shame and hopefully it'll change. It would be SUCH a buzz to see this song here have millions of views and likes. Thanks for replying, love reading actual good comments here.

I suffer from depression myself and music is the best therapy. A lot of the songs on Post Traumatic hit pretty close. Especially this one. So glad the full thing is out now. Always love Shinodas lyrics. This album has got some pretty heavy and honest shit on it and its so damned good.

I relate to this song on so many different levels than what this was probably written, but the feeling is similar. Especially when told to take your time, but the world keeps on spinning and that's something out of my control.

Absolutely true. We live in a difficult time, it's so hectic out there from what i have noticed, and world keeps changing so fast. As myself having troubles with my mind, it's very difficult to me to comprehend these things. I like how this song describes these matters on humoristic way, especially the "hold my sh#t together part".
This is me when I lost my lil bro to cancer. Being the eldest of all my siblings meant that I had to look ‘tough’ but deep inside, I was just trying to hold my shit together.

I lost my grandfather to cancer and I have tried my best to prepare... but no amount of preparation could have lessened the pain... the first time I heard the news, I laughed in disbelief... (I laugh when I get shocked), then it hit me and when the thought of it sunk in I started feeling numb, I can't feel my arms and legs, the tips of my fingers and toes, my body felt cold like my blood was no longer flowing in my veins, while my knees, ribs and spinal column felt so weak, I couldn't stand and it felt like I was going to fall into pieces, there was a feeling like there's a lump in my throat, I wanted to cry but there was no tears (at first)... my head and body felt so light, like even the slightest gust of wind would fly me into the sky like ashes of burned up paper, my heart felt like it was getting crumpled, I felt sick to my stomach like I was going to throw up... time eventually felt like it was slowing down and food didn't taste like anything, by this time nothing felt real anymore and everything was like a dream... a bad dream where I was falling into this deep void of dark nothingness and there was nothing to catch me or even fall on to, it was a bad dream that I couldn't wakeup from, it was so bad that I wanted to hit my head on the wall just to wakeup, I felt pressure in my head, I could feel my brain beating and my skull felt like it was going to crack open and I begged God to just make it stop. During the grieving process I would sometimes feel all of these feelings, sensations and emotions at once and the whole experience was basically just surreal /(-_-)\

I've been blasting this Post Traumatic stuff all over my timeline when it's released. I've always loved Linkin Park as a whole, but Mike has done some great solo stuff, and this is by far the best. As I said earlier, sometimes the best things come out of tragedies.
There are two types of people in this world 1. People who love Mike Shinoda. 2. People who don't know Mike Shinoda.
whoever brought it up at a 6 years old bday, is not feeling good right now.

I can listen to this thing on repeat the whole day... it is one of my most favourite songs from Post Traumatic. Maybe its probably because I feel it so much.. it literally describes my life
Mike these are all amazing! Youre amazing! Lets all keep the linkin park family strong❤
Lost my dad a few months ago.....this album came out of nowhere and every song covers exactly how I feel.....listening to this makes me sad, but to know that loss even though it's personal, has a lot of similarities between people....I'm sorry Mike that you're having to go through this....but God damn what a perfect amazing album to come from such a tragedy
Depression's everywhere and Mike Shinoda knows exactly everything about in the whole album.

Art Sedation well, as humans and as social creatures we care about people, I honestly feel like it's Mike's honesty and the effort and creativity he puts into his music, it pretty much proves that he's worth our time and with that we begin to see his hurts and relate to it in some way Making this connection between artist and listener a strong emotional connection
Love the fact you pour your feelings into this amazing music...respect and luv it Mike 👍👌❤
This album, Post Traumatic, is him sharing his grieving journey after Chester passed. The entire album kit comes with a coloring book. So you can just color as you listen. Mike's a genius.
This is definitely my favorite album ever. My god, this album is indescribable. Mike, you truly make miracles. You did what you thought was right with these songs, and I will never quit supporting your music. As for Linkin Park, I will respect your guy's decision either way and I hope many of the fan will too. Keep up the great work. We all love you ♡
Mike this whole album has given me a whole new reason to get my shit together emotionally and move forward. You'll never know how much your music helps all of us so much
This what made chester so great how he dug into his feelings deep inside to give songs so much meaning and makes you really feel it and now your doing it with this album you can truly feel the emotion and definitely making chester proud
Mike has way more talent than all out of the other dudes out there-it’s just that he’s doing what he wants to do. He needs more recognition because he really makes his own music. And he addresses his problems in his songs. He literally started writing songs the moment he got the strength to. I’m glad he managed to get through his troubles, and we all hope he will do better.
This entire album makes me hurt for Mike so bad. Chester's death still hurts me like hell, but he was literally in the thick of it. He knew Chester as a friend. I could never know how he feels, but oh my god I feel so terrible for him. I hope he knows how much his fans love him.
Today my artbook, t-shirt and the cd arrived. I am so happy! Thank you MS🤘🏼 This is one of the best album I know. Great music and art!
Thank you so much for these gifts mike, good luck and best wishes in your tour.
My favorite song from the Post Traumatic album, love you Mike, my idol!
Mike... You may never and likely won't see this. But you have been one of my biggest heros since childhood. For you to have had the year you have had and push out new music... Its absolutely inspiring. You will always be my hero man. Keep it up, I will keep listening!!
This just shows how one person is so important to everyone. Miss you a lot Chester. #posttraumatic ❤❤
Half the songs on this album have made me understand my mental state a little bit better, thank you for that Mike and I hope you're able to keep your shirt together. Love ya man
This one helps me heal too! I have seen and dealt with enough to write a book. One of the most honest songs that I've heard. Thanks for that!
This album is Mike's one of his best artistry difficult to choose Ur favourite song from #weareshinodasquad
There are days when I can totally relate to this song on so many levels. Thank you Mike for another relatable song.
Love everything about this - I really took time to listen to the music and appreciate how amazing it is and then replayed and listened carefully to the lyrics. Such a great song; bittersweet because no one wants Mike to feel this way but his emotion is perfectly conveyed.
Mike I still don't get how come you're not out there topping all the charts!!! I know you don't do it for fame, but out of pure passion and letting your flow out, but still! The most underrated artist I know. I'm listening to all your songs on loop, this one today
Every song of Mike is something to think about. It's so true for many people I guess. Every song song is so meaningful to me💗 LP forever👆
Just discovered this song from last night's concert. Thank you very much Mike! Last night literally the best day in 2019! Please comeback to indonesia soon. We love you mike! 🤘

loving the tracks. amazing album. Missing Chester on this day
One of the deepest song of the album. I love it! Proud of you Mike. Thank you! You are the best.
It is so unique that he makes an album about his grief. Mike, I believe you help a lots of us. And I hope it helps you as well.
This has got to be my favourite from the album; First song i put on when i get in the car, when i'm at the gym, on the way to work... the list goes on but the stories the same.
I don't know what to say, this is so... endearing and explosive at the same time, wow. You are awesome Mike.
Losing Chester was tough, but this album (and the tour) helped us move forward and heal. It came 2 years earlier than I really needed it, losing my father last year was and still is a very traumatic experience (especially since it was totally unexpected, and I was just 20, and my brother even younger). It's been 9 months and I'm still struggling so hard, especially with Covid being a danger for my mom. I'm just really scared. But among the few things that give me hope and help me cope, is this great album.
Still my favorite off the album something about it is just so damn good.
there's not a single word used in this song that I don't like, that doesn't get trough me. You're not an artist, mike, you'reTHE ARTIST. I love this album.
This year has been one of the worst and best years that I have had recently. Sometimes I feel like I am barely able to keep control of everything. One of the most important people in my life passed away due to cancer and my career had to be changed because of it. Now I am not one to complain or try to make others feel sorry for me, but it's been a shitty year. Having this song available to listen to has helped me tremendously and i cannot wait for some more of what Mike has in store for us. Keep going Mike..
Damn Mike. Outta all the soungs you just dropped this hits home the most. I feel you, brother. Keep it up
This song is so relatable, and really good Mike!
By far the best album this year!
Love every single song from post traumatic album😍 thank you mike
This album is sooo good! So proud of you Mike!
Fastest I've ever clicked on a video
The contrast between the lyrics and actual music in this song is amazing.
I stg i can hear chester singing in all of his songs. Mfg it's like he never left 😳 stay strong, mike!
Why can't we like a song a million times
*This genius is genius* / *Esse génio é foda!* COME ON MIKE, TOGETHER ALWAYS!
This song speaks to us all on diffrent levels.
your melody guides me trough life since LP, fort minor, soundtracks and now this... thank you for not giving up on those who likes your music :)
this album gives me a better understanding of what was Mike's contribution in Linkin Park's songs..im sure Chester and the others are very proud of him rn..as he holds it together
Howdy there! I have a panic disorder. You know what's great? Panic attacks. In public. This is my first time listening to this song, but my god do I relate.
ooooo so dope Mike...lots of love
These lyrics break my heart 💔 stay strong, Mike. We all care about you and want to see you get through this
The lyrics is so relatable... Beautiful and amazing album:)
It's scary how much I can relate to this.
I'm listening to the album and this is one of the best new tracks in my opinion, But every track is to good to choose
I am so happy to see you making music again! This album is so fantastic! Keep up the good work!
Why does every song that Mike writes hit directly in my heart and soul?
