Such an overlooked culture here on KZread, wish more people made videos on the Hohokam and Anasazi or at least acknowledge their existence as a civilization. awesome video!

They are informative, accurate, unbiased (not overtly political), and concise and will make great supplemental resources to compliment my lesson plans.

According to Navajo elders the Anasazi were slavers, during the drought they lost their slaves and that ended their way of life so they disappeared. the Anasazi were an ancient people who lost their civilization to a cataclysm and used gambling to enslave the native tribes.They were only around for a few centuries.

This is way we don't call our ancestors "anasazi". The athabaskan nomadic navajos who migrated from the north into present southwest around 1300 have been telling false stories. My ancestors left chaco region in the 1200's and migrated to the Rio Grande area, to Hopi, to Zuni & Rio Puerco area (Acoma, Laguna).

@@scarletred1497 Oddly, the newer archeological findings from the late 90s supports what the Dine' elders have stated on the matter. A very dark chapter in any people's history, the evidence is very unpleasant, but it is indisputable.
Hohokam is the name that their descendants give them!
Ancestral puebloan is more acceptable than using anasazi.

Puebloans is a Spaniard word. Anasazi is a Navajo word.

@@Hualapai702 Correct. The word 'anasazi' means Ancient Enemy and Pueblo means village, way more acceptable than the navajo word.
Along with a famine, they also got distracted to death by mind control and people were disappearing and there were portals and demons came out. It was a punishment for being evil and mocking God and their gods. Some say the same thing is happening again in some parts of Asia.
