Oh my god Elizabeth, you’re such a nerd 😂 and that is definitely one of the reasons I love the charismatic voice 💛
I'm so glad they finally have a song that Jenny and her harp get to really be noticed.
I agree with you on the Classical Violin - it can be placed ANYWHERE and it just ADDS AWESOME!
I think we can assume that Elizabeth was a bit excited by this, can't wait ❤️.

She is such a metalhead! 🤘
So much delightful infectious joy in this video. Melissa Bonny is such a terrific singer/songwriter, but her stage presence and presentation is out of this world and just keeps getting better. She was so deliciously sinister, exactly as called for by the material, and so elegant and expressive. For another cover, without Dark Side of the Moon, check the first Ad Infintum album "Chapter I: Majesty" which has a cover of "This is Halloween" from "The Nightmare Before Christmas" - the way she plays with her voice, changes characters and is almost voice acting through it. It is am *incredible* track, with so much imagination and agility.
I love how hype you are for metal, how the awesomeness hits you in waves! That is just Christmas to me!
Jenny is the Evil Harpist I love it. Seriously with every song TDSOTM gets better, so happy that Napalm encouraged them to do it. It is not like Morten (Amaranth), Melissa (Ad Infinitum, Hans (Feuerschwanz) and Jenny (Feuerschwanz and her Video production company) don't have enough to do with their main bands. All this basically started as a silly bet and now we get that :P
While the opening is indeed the Harry Potter theme, the lyrics are actually from a scene in the Shakespeare play Macbeth. In the scene three witches are dancing around a pot filled with bubbling water, and the witches add ingredients to the pot, naming each one as they put it in. You mentioned the layering giving the sense of a demon coming from the spell. This is quite fitting because in this scene Hecate, the Greek goddess of magic, casts a spell on Macbeth, helping the witches tell his future and manipulate him.

Classical instruments and metal go together really well. Not just the violin, but the piano as well - as beautifully demonstrated by Lovebites in their Swan Song (with Chopin intro) ;)

Delightful reaction, Elizabeth. I love the layering of Melissa's vocals here. She does that in Ad Infinitum as well, to great effect.
cool, this time you introduced someone to me that I never heard before, thanks for the intro!
One of the very best uses of classical elements in metal yet! The Dark Side of the Moon just keeps getting better. So, Elizabeth, when are you going to dust off your classical voice and do a duet with an extreme vocalist on a classical piece? Something witchy, phantasmagoric or undeadish...
Love love love it. Harry Potter is very near and dear to my heart and this is just perfection on its rendition! Keep the great vids flowing
There are some metal bands that use or have used violin, such as Ne Obliviscaris, My Dying Bride, and Korpiklaani (folk rather than classical). There are others who use things like cello (Darkestrah) or horns (Sear Bliss) as part of their signature sound.

What a wonderful review, what an outstanding video and performance!! Simply superb visuals, stunning vocals, and the musicianship was out of this world. Not simply because it was Harry Potter, but because the performers are quite talented!! What a joy this was to behold! Without you, Elizabeth, I would never ever have encountered them. Thank you for the introduction, I will be seeing a lot of Hans and his friends!
Such a special analysis, here ,you are so excited and inspired ,so infectious ,always makes me smile ,to see you so [extra] enthused by a piece of music ,thanks for always being so positive ,and energetic ,it lifts me ,HAPPY XMAS ,TO YOU AND ALL YOUR BEAUTIFUL FAMILY.
Elizabeth, you never cease to amaze me with your passion and enthusiasm reacting and trying out new stuff! When I first found your channel some time ago, well, let's just say I was... skeptical. I never would have believed such a HIGHLY educated and trained professional opera singer would become an actual metalhead. Yet here you are. Color me wrong! LOL On a personal note, I was raised listening to a fair amount of opera/operatic vocals; my mom was *addicted* to Mario Lanza. But it was never even close to a preferred style for me. Now? Though still not my primary go-to genre, my appreciation for it & what it takes has skyrocketed...thanks to you. I find myself willingly seeking out opera performances on YT when I hear of them (not just yours! 😉) There are a handful.of other opera singers that do reactions I'm subscribed to as well; and it's always fun cross-checking what they say with what you say. LOL
Always love a great metal version of my fave music/songs. Love your enthusiasm for the music.
I didn’t know I needed a Metal version of this. Great reaction and interesting facts Your joy and excitement are coming through the screen and I am all for it
So amazing, the HP theme, the song and your reactions.
Wow this has tons of energy and the violin and harp were gorgeous. Thanks Elizabeth for such a generous analysis, your passion and nerdiness are so wonderful, who else would argue about the presence of an augmented fourth? I think the connection between metal and classical is definitely strong. You already know about Ne Obliviscaris for metal with violin, Fleshgod Apocalypse and Carach Angren are amazing for metal with full symphony orchestra, and Eard play atmospheric black metal and feature the Celtic Harp. All amazing artists worthy of checking out.
I loved her voice she would put a spell on me. Elizabeth I love how you feel the music not only hear it. I felt for so long like I was alone they heard every not and felt it in my soul, I see how it touches you. Great job love the hat. Peace
Let's give Elizabeth a prop to play with for Every one of her videos. Elizabeth, during the duet solo I actually wept a lil bit. Its crazy what certain notes can do...the same thing happens when I hear o mio babbino Caro.
WOW !!! Thought I'd see what this reaction was about. Never heard of Dark Side Of The Moon. I DO NOW. Awesome. And So Was Your Reaction. 😁👍❤
I’ve been watching your reactions for a while now and I love them all!! In this one when you talked about classical instruments being used in heavy metal music it reminded me of a group called Apocalyptica and specifically their song “ I Don’t Care”. It’s from 2008 but I think you’ll enjoy it.
You're seriously getting into metal and I LOVE THAT!!!
It’s equally entertaining to watch Elizabeth as it is to watch the performance.

As a huge Harry Potter fan, I didn’t know this existed…thanks for sharing!!! So exciting!!! HP mixed with metal. Just wow. Two of my favorite things.
Elizabeth --- great reaction video of a very well performed version of Harry Potter Theme. I think you forgot to give praise to the incredible drum playing in that song. That drummer, I don't know his name and don't recognize him, is absolutley hammering that kit with some high speed timing and crazy fast rolls and fills. He deserves some recognition.
Very cool sound. Loved it
I would love to get your reaction/analysis of "Master the Hurricane" by Visions of Atlantis.
I'm sure you might already be working on an analysis Elizabeth, but Apocalyptica have released a song last week with Simone Simons of Epica on vocals called Rise Again and it is fantastic!

A suggestion that I would love to watch as a french-canadian who love your video. La Bohème - Charles Aznavour . His tremolo control is from another world. Crazy you'll see how awesome Aznavour was. Thank you for your videos it bring joy in my life. 🤘🤘
Strings in metal - Lyriel (who seem to be together no more, sadly) had a violinist and a cellist (the Laukamp siblings). Dalriada (_the_ Hungarian folk metal band) have also long used a lot of strings
Well, if you want violin, metal, harsh vocals and clean vocals... you should react to the new Ne Obliviscaris single: Equus. Just released a week ago. It has stunning visuals, too.
Great choice sounds incredible.
I like the fact that she coming to the dark side with us in metal music.
A bonus video? ☺ Your write up really has me piqued. Benn fun vids so far this week- this oughtta be a hoot. #letsgettoit! 🎄
I love this so much! Metal draws heavily from classical. Both the tamber and pitch. It isn't stupid people.
I will just summarise all my thoughts and feelings by saying YAAASSSS
After listening to this I've realized the battle of Hogwarts needs to be rewritten as a rock battle been Harry and Voldy
A lot of Classic music Phrases in Metal have been done by Accept back in the Eighties, such as in „Metal Heart“ and a Metal Version of „Pomp and Circumstance“
Melissa Bonny is amazing. The attractiveness of her voice is undisputed, but the work she puts in is certainly to be considered. lol I imagine it's a lot! The violinist and harpist are awesome! I also love the fact they agreed to this. I really love the arrangement. It's so fun and something I can certainly dance to! I feel the violin and cello are the most emotionally expressive of all the instruments. I love the cello! It's the instrument that has the thickest and most emotional sound to me. It's also the saddest. I love it!
Music that makes you feel is good music period regardless of genre \m/!!
Metal and classical music is simply genius and beautiful combined and i shuldnt work, but it does.
So fun to watch you geek out :D
I have a request, would you mind doing Glenn Hughes "Can't stop the flood" album version? You are going to LOVE THIS GUY. He's often refered to as the voice of rock..he's certainly one of the best I've ever heard. Thanks!!
In the past few days, Ne Obliviscaris also just released a new song and I think you'd love it
If you want more violin in metal, have a look at the band Imminence from Sweden. The vocalist also plays the violin. I recommend the performance of "Chasing Shadows" live at Brixton Academy 2022.
This is wicked good! It certainly cast a spell on me. Visuals are as good as the music.
While they are not a Metal band, the Dave Mathews Band has a kick-ass violinist by the name of Boyd Tinsley. Check him out on their earlier albums. Jefferson Starship (yeah, I know that's going way back in musical time) had Papa John Creech playing with them for a spell. Take a listen to the cut "John's Other". The Mahavishnu Orchestra (John McLaughlin et. al.) had Jerry Goodman on violin, followed by Jean-Luc Ponty in a second iteration. Just a few examples of violinists who have been playing rock/jazz fusion licks for quite some time now. Enjoy when you have a chance. Your weekly dives are one of the highlights of my KZread surfing. Thank you for your unbridled enthusiasm and infectious joy.
Ms. Zharoff. Came across your channel last week. Wowzers. I have come to enjoy many genre's of music over many decades. My sons also brought me along with Indy music. Now, I suspect this is probably inappropriate given the praise to the Hogwarts. I also suspect, with your thousands of comments this will probably not cross your path. But I digress...One of my all time favorite songs is the cover, "Ticket to Ride", by Karen Carpenter. Her voice is liquid gold and her rendition of this just makes me suck my breath in. If you have not heard it, just give it a listen. By the way, my major, long ago, was public speaking. You have an incredible presence and draw that is rare. I suspect your profession and travel has perfected that. Blessings on your talent!
Interesting side note about those first few lines, it's the song that Hogwarts choir sings in the beginning of Prisoner of Azkaban, John Williams composed it but the words were written by Shakespeare, it's taken from Machbet.
If you like violin in heavier rock / metal - I recommend Michał Jelonek, a Polish violinist playing mostly metal, he has solo albums (with singles like "BaRock" and "Funeral of Provincial Vampire") and some work with other bands, like Hunter.

So I've got an unusual recommendation for you: Casey Lee Williams. People will recognize her as the lead singer for every season of the animated series RWBY. She started doing the soundtracks 10 years ago when she was only 13 as her dad, Jeff Williams, is the composer and sometimes singer for all of the soundtracks. She had a surprisingly powerful voice for her age and now at (I believe) 23 she still sounds much the same but little more mature and experienced. She also has her own band, OK Goodnight. Due to her soundtrack work she's picked up a few different vocal styles from rock to jazz to pop to even opera. The song I would recommend most is Red Like Roses - Part II. It's a duet she sang with her mom, Sandy Casey (and composed by her dad) from the first soundtrack. It's fast paced, kinda frantic and I think you'd really be impressed. I know you're into gaming so maybe you're already familiar with her? If so she might make for a good interview as a lot of us have watched her grow up and mature as a performer.

"And you and I....") without loosing the calm somehow. Love it! 😳!!! I just had a thought! 🤔 I wonder if there is a live or studio performance of "1000 Words" from FFX.
