Hobbywing 1080 ESC in Traxxas TRX4! The BEST ESC?

Today I install a Hobbywing 1080 ESC in my Traxxas TRX4! I also show how to make an adapter in order to run the Traxxas light kit. I picked this ESC up at a swap meet earlier this fall and have been extremely impressed with how well it performs! If you're looking for an upgraded ESC for any 10th scale crawler, this is my go to option.

Tie the wires together put the soldering needle under the wire, let it heat up and then touch the top of the wire with solder while tapping the solder needle so it melts together really nice.

I need a higher power iron, it doesn’t quite get hot enough to solder the bigger wires properly lol. I just haven’t wanted to spend the money on a new one because I really don’t solder all that much. Thanks for watching!

Great job There! Definitely one of the best brushed ESCs out there. I have several installed. Another good place to add a jst for the lights is to solder one on to the ESC with the battery lead when you change the plug. Keep up the great work. ✌🚙

Thanks! That's a good idea as well, not sure if my solder skills are quite there yet tho! Appreciate you watching.

Get yourself a tin of soldering flux. Dip each wire into the flux before heating it and then apply solder to each bare wire end. This is called tinning. Next just hold the pieces to be soldered together and apply heat. The solder will flow neatly together.

Thanks for the tips! I’ve tried using flux before but didn’t have much luck. Maybe I need to get a new batch. I also think I need a higher temp iron. I’m still very inexperienced in my soldering skills so I’ll take all the help I can get! Thanks for watching!

Yep traxxas transmitter still should work fine. I’d start by double checking the channels you have everything plugged into. Hope you get it figured out, let me know if I can help some more! Thanks for watching!

Atrocious soldering, shorting out the receiver and ESC's BEC with exposed wires, powering the light module from the receiver and not directly by the battery... C'mon dude...
