RC Cars, 3D Printing, and Snowmobiling!
Our channel features 3 brothers and some friends sharing content primarily RC focused, but recently some 3D printing and occasionally some snowmobiling mixed in. Our goal is to provide videos that either provide you with some sort of entertainment or help you learn something. The original "3 Dudes" are Cole, Max, and Grant (brothers), but now a lot of our friends appear in videos quite frequently as well! This channel is meant for all ages of people, so sit back and relax with your family and watch our videos! Comments are much appreciated and we love hearing what you guys have to say or any questions you have and we'll try and respond as quickly as possible. The issue you had with the paint is a phenomenon called "orange peel" this happens when you have multiple layers on something curing at different rates and an uneven coat. Essentially the area that is thicker will have a lot more of the reducer of the paint in it and can affect the underlying layers as well. Just means slow down and allow for more time to dry between layers and get the coats more even. If you notice it only really happened in places where you put on a heavy layer of white at the start of that phase of painting.
Alright so I’ll disregard Traxxas’ claim of 15 minute dry time next time and wait a little longer between coats. Thanks for the advice!
can i put a more powerful engine in it?
You could definitely go up to a 4s capable system, but bigger than that and you’ll start running out of room.
FCX24 is a great performer, I love mine! I dig those low clouds over the mountain in the background, epic!

Maybe a slight bit of flexing, but really not noticeable when towing. For being multiple 3d printed pieces screwed together it’s about as good as it will get. Thanks for watching!

While I know this is an Upgrades video, I’m just curious if you may know what could cause my Rustler 4WD to stop popping wheelies!?! I’ve adjusted the shipper clutch and still no wheelies. Interesting you say that. Because both our 2wd and 4wd rustlers seem to have been less likely to pop wheelies as time has gone on. Honestly don’t know the answer to it. My only real guess would be the diff oil loosening up or slowly seeping out. It doesn’t seem to matter how tight the clutch is and even if we throw new tires on it still doesn’t pop wheelies like it didn’t out of the box. Sorry I don’t have a good answer for you. It’s one of the mysteries I’ve been trying to figure out as well! Let me know if you figure anything out. - Cole
@@3DudesRC I’m looking at the gear meshing currently. Not sure, but the truck makes a noise when rolling it forward or backward. I’m trying to determine if a spur gear is slipping, or what else may be going on. The Traxxas guy I spoke with tonight is puzzled by it. 😏😨

What a beautiful place to take our favorite mini crawlers, so glad you took these amazing FCX24s with ya! I've never been to Nevada nor do I live in the US, but I'd seen these rocky areas in photos, never knew those rock faces have such nice scale textures up close that your RCs look like full size vehicles in this video! Btw I had installed these same wheels on my Power Wagon, thanks to your past videos, they made my decision a lot easier in choosing a new set of aftermarket wheels. I paired them with Injora's sticky and soft Trail King tires. Cheers buddy, have an awesome weekend!🍻😉

Aren’t these just modified slashes?
They do share a lot of parts with the slash. But the chassis is completely different than the slash and obviously the body is quite different as well. Many of the other parts are interchangeable tho!

Great informative video bro! I once believed that softer inserts allow the tires to confirm better to rock surfaces and provide better grip. But that isn't always the case. Stiffer inserts allow the tires to keep the pressure (and grip) on much smaller contact patch, such as in akward off camber situation (where the tires ride over slanted surface or v-shaped ruts and only the edges are in contact). I might just give these silicone inserts a try, they seem to add the much needed sidewall stiffness as your video suggests😉👍

Has anybody tried installing a fan on top of the motor of the blast ? Traxxas sells a heat sink that would fit in front of the water cooling tubes, and I’d think that an additional fan would help reduce temps a little better.
I have not. Only concern would be how water would affect the fan.
Have you had any technical problems? I have the same printer i bought used and i keep getting an error which breaks my prints
No major issues like that. Couple random glitches here and there. Not sure what would be causing that.
@3DudesRC did you print anything like 6h+? Did you have problems with that?
@@vil100 I’d say I’ve done 40+ prints that were 6 hours or longer. No real issues other than occasional warping away from the bed.

Ended up buying a xl5 esc and Titian 12T combo. Reverse and 2s capable. That’s the system that should be stock imo.

Hi, I just recently got my FCX24 Power Wagon, and was looking at those nice Injora wheels of yours, do they rub on the stock plastic portal covers? I kinda want to keep my Power Wagon near to stock overall width running zero offset wheels and keep the scale look. Thanks in advance!

To me, its very annoying trying to learn how to take things apart and put them together properly only to see the video speed through that process so new guys cant learn a thing from it. Ill find a new video as this wasn’t for me, but dont get me wrong, its still a good video.
Sorry. Yea it wasn’t really meant to be a tutorial video(there are many much better done tutorials out there). It was meant to be a test for people considering the metal spur gear. I figured people considering metal had already stripped and replaced a couple plastic ones. Thanks for watching!

Stripped my first spur gear on its 10th battery. It may have been my fault for being on the throttle during a rollover, but im thinking about this gear.
I would replace it with another plastic one first just to make sure it wasn’t a fluke. If you keep stripping them, then definitely consider the metal one!

Lol am I the only one here trying to see how big this spur gear is because I wanted to use this as my DIY Arduino Steering Wheel project which requires a higher gear ratio so the potentiometer spins less and more precise 900-degree steering instead of 270? Kinda overkill to use a hobby grade precise gearing for this lmao
