That single boat can cause a lot of damage only the US boats are comparable, no other countries come near. The UK is the only country that has shared nuclear research program with the US. These really are the battleships of the 21st century. Carriers project power but these boats can destroy entire fleets. The UK's fleet may be small but it packs hell of a punch for its size. The next generation AUKUS attack boats capabilities will be terrifying.

I might be naïve but surely this is a pretty long breaking in period for a boat. I understand the complexity but lots of stuff is tricky in these times. So, I hope BAE systems have paid a penalty for such shoddy work. But I’m guessing no. The reason is almost certainly corruption. We have to use British Companies to build war ships so, BAE are in essence a monopoly and it is not wonder why the DOD is so wildly over planned budget each and every year.

I still don't get who the UK thinks they'll need to fight to buy such advanced systems. It's amazing such a small country can spend billions of pounds on ships and missiles of all types. I've seen a frigate escort an oil tanker in the Persian gulf, but if anything goes hot, nothing wouldn't be sunk in such a small area with supersonic and potentially hypersonic anti-ship missiles, so it's curious indeed.

@@MyScotty7, and what deterrent is there, when you are fighting Klingons (72 mansions with 72 virgins...which still sounds like hell to me, having to hear 72 times, "It has to go in WHERE!?") that want to die in glorious battle. Know you're enemy. MAD doesn't work, if one side doesn't care about their population or themselves. That's includes China. One general said publicly, if they lost 500 million people that was a price they were willing to pay. Deter that.
