@@tedgrowney8981 lol that's like saying "NFL linemen are only in the game because they are strong and fast." Being a physical presence in professional sports is like 85% of the challenge. The average 6'6" NBA player is in the 99.9th percentile for height in America. You're discounting that Shaq's probably the strongest basketball player ever, and that doesn't come without a lot of hard work in the gym. The rule changes in 2004ish that made the NBA less physical meant Shaq's skill set was less valuable. He's probably the epitome of bully ball, which is a perfectly legitimate way to put points on the board.

I still remember to this day, I was playing NBA2K3 and I threw an inbound pass to Shaq right before the end of the quarter. There was only a couple seconds left so I take the full court shot and Shaq’s animation uses his whole body to throw the ball cross court, and what do you know, NOTHING BUT NET. That’s the only full court shot I’ve made in my whole 2K career and it’s by none other than the Big Diesel himself.

@@B3Band well the floor is kind of the biggest object on the screen at any point in time besides the players themselves so its safe to say the floor looking nice is a pretty big deal.

I remember 2K gave Shaq like 30 something in speed and quickness. Insane, Lakers Shaq was as fast as any forward in the NBA. From what I read, Shaq ran 3/4 of a court in 3.25 seconds as a rookie, which was the same speed as Chris Paul during his rookie season. Therefore, Orlando Shaq should have gotten 83 in speed and Lakers Shaq maybe 81 in speed and quickness. But it is not just Shaq so many freakish big men like Dwight Howard were given only 60 something in speed when Howard ran 3/4 court in 3.14 seconds, which should have given him an 89 speed.

@@jaithen29 I edit the rosters based on their actual speed and it really doesn't have any difference in the game because regardless how fast the big men are, guards in the NBA are generally a one level higher in athleticism, except few freaks like Dwight Howard. Plus, it makes the game more realistic because it makes big men explosive similiar to their actual selves in the game.

30 something speed should be reserved for guys who you have to wait for to get in a half court offense. That's pretty rare in the NBA tho. I remember Kareem in his last year was like that and the Lakers were okay with that because he could still shoot the sky hook with a high percentage.

Looney on the warriors is very slow in transition, fun fact though in highschool he was called like mini KD or some shit lol. There are some dudes who are genuinely slow in the sense of just they are almost a nonfactor in transition. But not as many as 2k would make you believe lol

NBA 2K originally came out for the Sega Dreamcast (Sega's last console); 2K2 was the first one to be released for something that wasn't the Dreamcast (it came out on the Dreamcast, PS2, Xbox OG, and Nintendo GameCube)

2K (the original) is so much fun because of its plethora of weird glitches. For example, when you play with the Pacers and it randomly says "DAVIS! DAVIS! DAVIS!" in a high voice.

This was hilarious 😂

I played the heck out my 2k2 with Shaq and Lakers. In 2k2 when Shaq would attempt a 3 and miss, the announcer would say "O'Neal misses the three, you don't want him taking that shot"

I remembered playing 2K5, I took Spurs and my friend Heats. I was trailing by 3 in last possession. I passed to Timmy (out of panic) and dude made a clutch 3 pointers to tie the game! My mate complained it's a cheat and refused to play the extra time. Well, the same shit did happened in real life a few years later. And it's against Shaq too!!!!!

Nba 2k was so good back then, before the game design model was a "pay to win" live service model. Which is similar to mobile live service model. Nothing wrong with the live service model as it allows the studio to increase their revenue through ugc core loop. But really takes the essence of a video game....

The defense was tougher on them older 2k's like real life back then lmao
